Newcastle are set to sign highly rated Inter Milan defender Davide Santon according to reports.
Alan Pardew has turned his attention to the 20 year old Italian after failing to agree a deal for PSV’s Eric Pieters. Santon can play on either side of the defence and would fill the gap left by Jose Enrique.
The young full back has been tipped to be a star but spent the second half of last season on loan at Cesena and Newcastle seemed to have agreed a £5 million price tag with the Italian giants. He is an attacking full back and having played for Italy 7 times already, he is a player with plenty of potential.
In other news from St. James Park, Newcastle are considering signing Czech goalkeeper Petr Bolek on a season loan.
The 27-year-old from Slovakian side FK Senica also has an offer from Leyton Orient but is wanted as cover for Tim Krul and Steve Harper.
Bolek will take part in a few training sessions with Newcastle before the club decide to pursue the move.
