Full-back Isa Nacewa was the star player for Leinster, scoring five penalties, as the Heineken Cup winners beat Scarlets in their RaboDirect Pro12 clash.
The Scarlets scored the games only try through Lee Williams, but the Irish side were always in control and deserved the points.
Leinster led 6-3 lead at halftime, with the fullback kicking their two penalties. Dan Newton was the Welsh sides only scorer in the opening period. Nacewa scored his first penalty to tie the match at 3-3 after 21 minutes. He scored his second just before the interval to leave his side in front 6-3.
Nacewa kicked a penalty right after the restart to extend his side’s lead to six points. Scarlets then scored the games only try when scrum-half Ruki Tipuna linked up with lock Aaron Shingler before Williams crossed over for the five points. Newton converted the extras.
However, Nacewa kicked penalties on 51 and 54 minutes to give Leinster back their advantage. They held this five point lead right to the death as the fullback led the way.
