Northern Irish pair bid for Grand slam of Golf

Northern Irish pair Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke’s bid to become the first European’s to win the PGA Grand Slam of Golf gets underway in Bermuda tomorrow

The 36-hole event at the Port Royal golf course, the end of season tournament for the year’s major winners, will see the pair go head to head with the years other major winners South African Charl Schwartzel and American Keegan Bradley.

McIlroy, who finished last in the seven day seven city challenge event in China, has been installed as favourite to claim the event and in the process become the first European winner since Ian Woosam back in 1991.

However the US open winner will have to battle jetlag first if he is to claim a historic victory, with the social media regular tweeting that his “great Chinese adventure has ended” “Now mentally preparing myself for 20 hours in the air from Hong Kong to Bermuda!”

Nominated for 2011 Realex Web Awards
