Carlos Tevez has quickly become public enemy number one in Manchester. The Argentine striker was once loved by both United and City fans but for different reasons, the fiery striker is now hated in the city.
Chants, songs, posters and t-shirts have been a feature of his time in Manchester but now things go one step further as a “Thrash your Tevez Shirt” skip will be available to fans.
Fans will now be given the chance to dump their Carlos Tevez shirts whether it be blue or red outside Old Trafford on Sunday ahead of the first Manchester Derby of the season. Bookmakers Betfair have launched the initiative named “Thrash you Tevez Shirt”
A giant skip will be placed outside Old Trafford on Sunday morning and fans will have the chance to get rid of their unwanted jerseys. All shirts will be sent to charities in Argentina or distributed to local authorities.
He might want to stay away from the Manchester area on Sunday as thousands of angry fans will show their anger at the striker by “chucking” their jerseys into the giant skip.
He was a United hero during his time at the club but angered fans when he choose to join local rivals City. Like at Old Trafford, the diminutive striker was a fan’s favourite until the infamous events in Munich a couple of weeks ago.
Betfair, who are betting partners of Manchester United have had a skip made up, one half blue and the other red, which you can see below. The image is a carbon copy of the famous “Welcome to Manchester” billboard which was put up when he joined City from United.
Over 76,000 fans will make the trip down Sir Matt Busby way on Sunday and will pass the giant skip. Time and time again Tevez has let the fans down,’ said Betfair spokesman Alex Bake.
‘What better way for fed up supporters to show they want rid of him for good than by dumping their shirts. ‘These two sets of supporters don’t often see eye to eye, but I’m sure they’ll all be pleased if he leaves Manchester in the January transfer window.’
