All Blacks scrum half Piri Weepu has admitted that he injured himself during the warm up of his sides 8-7 win against France in the Rugby World Cup last Sunday.
The 28-year-old was reported to have tweaked a groin muscle prior to kick-off , however he played through the pain until he was withdrawn at the 50th miute mark.
Weepu said “”I wasn’t ready to come off. I had a tweak of my groin before the game started and I guess the coaches were only looking out for what was best for the team.”
The scrum half missed two penalties and a conversion before been replaced as his side ended their 24 year wait for World Cup glory.
