Dublin senior star Bernard Brogan scored 1-7 as St Oliver Plunkett’s booked their ticket to the Dublin SFC final at Parnell Park on Sunday.
Plunkett’s were cruising when they led Lucan Sarsfields 1-6 to 0-6 at half-time but fell apart in the second half and only just made it over the line.
Dermot Gallagher scored a great goal in the 46th minute and Lucan were unlucky then not to win a penalty with five minutes to go. However, the experience of the Brogan brothers and Jason Sherlock was enough to see Plunkett’s hold out and reach the decider.
Philly Ryan was the hero for St Brigid’s scoring the late goal that beat Ballymun 1-18 to 1-12 in the Dublin SFC semi-final at Parnell Park on Saturday.
Ballymun had looked in control scoring five from play in the first seven minutes, as Kevin Leahy impressed and Derek Byrne hit a great goal in injury-time to leave them 1-8 to 0-5 in front at the break.
However, Barry Cahill led Brigid’s turn around in the second period as they got right back into the game. James Burke pointed to tie the game and it was always likely to go down to the wire from there.
Dean Rock and Ken Darcy swapped frees and it was 1-10 to 0-13 at final whistle. Darcy and Andrews scored to move Brigid’s 0-16 to 1-12 ahead in extra-time.
Philly Ryan’s three pointer three minutes from the end finished the match and make certain that Brigid’s would be backin yet another county final.
