The Manchester United team to play Otelul Galati in Old Trafford at 7:45pm has been announced.
Alex Ferguson has rested many of the players that won at Everton over the weekend.
Man Utd team: De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Fabio,Valencia, Rooney, Anderson, Nani, Owen, Berbatov. Subs Fryers, Lindergaard, Evra, Park, Pogba, Hernandez, Welbeck
For the first time since their 6-1 defeat to Manchester City, Man Utd return to Old Trafford when they take on Otelul Galati in their Champions League Group C game on Wednesday night, kick off 7.45pm.
Victories over Aldershot and Everton have boosted Utd’s confidence, yet they will be keenly aware that Galati will be no pushovers when they come to Old Trafford. A narrow 2-0 win away from home saw Utd take the points when the sides last met, yet Utd were fortunate in some respects as Galati could and should have scored at least once during the 90 minutes.
Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson has a number of players missing from his squad, in a game Utd must win to keep the pressure on Group C rivals Benfica.
Captain Nemanja Vidic is suspended following his straight red card at the National Stadium while Chris Smalling (ankle), Darron Gibson (ankle) and Kiko Macheda (elbow) are injured. Ryan Giggs (hamstring), Tom Cleverley (foot) and Ashley Young (ankle) are also major doubts and are unlikely to be involved.
The away side also have a number of injury concerns. Ioan Filip (leg), Adrian Salageanu (knee) and Laurentiu Bus (ankle), as well as suspended defender Milan Perendija all look set to miss the game.
Speaking ahead of the game, Sir Alex is expecting a level of performance from his players, and expects no less than a win “We have to win on Wednesday, without doubt. We’re at home and I expect us to win and, if we do that, it’s in our hands when we play Benfica at home.”
While Galati proved a tough nut to crack in the first game, Man Utd should be able to brush aside the team from Romania. Still smarting from that Derby defeat, expect an improved performance from Utd in front of their home crowd. Man Utd to win with a few goals to spare.
