Fairyhouse Premier Jump Racing Weekend

Fairyhouse Racecourse and Bar One Racing are delighted to announce the initial entries for the 3 Grade 1 races which form the centrepiece of the Fairyhouse Premier Jump racing Weekend on 3rd and 4th December.

The Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle has attracted 19 entries headed by last year’s winner and subsequent Cheltenham Champion hurdle winner Hurricane Fly. Willie Mullins has also entered Thousand Stars who was successful in the French Champion Hurdle on his last start, Mikael D’Haguenet, Mourad, top handicapper Final Approach and last year’s Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle winner Zaipour. Jessica Harrington’s Grade 1 winner Oscars Wells who was unlucky at Cheltenham will be bidding for further glory. The fast improving The Real Article will attempt to give Edward O’Grady his second winner in the race, while Colm Murphy is eyeing up this contest for his tough and consistent mare Voler La Vedette.

The Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase is dominated by horses owned by Michael O’Leary’s Gigginstown House Stud. Among their entries are Novice Chase winners Last Instalment, First Lieutenant, and Rivage D’or along with last year’s Cheltenham winner Sir des Champs. Tom Cooper will be aiming to bring the money back to Kerry with his Grade 3 chase winner Lucky William while Noel Meade will be bidding for another success in the race with Donna’s Palm. Paul Nolan will be bidding to win the race for the second time with Shinrock Paddy.

The Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle has once again attracted the cream of the novice horses in Ireland. Among the entries are last year’s Grade 1 Champion Bumper winner Lovethehigherlaw from Willie Mullins’ yard and the Group 3 flat winner Galileo’s Choice from the Dermot Weld stable. They could be joined by impressive hurdle winners Steps To Freedom from the Jessica Harrington yard, Miss Nomer and Mount Benbulben. Noel Meade looks to have a particularly strong team for this contest with hurdle winners Texas Jack, Dylan Ross, Sword of Destiny and Il Fenomeno leading his potential team.

Peter Roe, General Manager of Fairyhouse Racecourse, said “The Premier Jump Racing Weekend is promising to be the most informative jumps meeting this side of Christmas. I am delighted for Barney O’Hare and Bar One Racing with the quality of the entries for all 3 Grade 1 races. With 7 Graded races over the weekend and our great value packages it is a meeting not to be missed”.

Barney O’Hare, Bar One Racing added, “Bar One Racing is delighted to be associated with the Premier Jump Racing Weekend at Fairyhouse. There is a strong entry for our races and we are delighted with the quality of entries for all our races led by the current Champion Hurdler Hurricane Fly who won our race in 2010”.
