Legendary Tyrone attacker Peter Canavan could be set for a sensational return to inter-county football, as the new manager of Fermanagh.
The Errigal Ciaran clubman recently finished a three-year stint with his local outfit, during which he led them to successive league titles. It is now believed that Canavan is ready to step up to the next level and try his hand at inter-county management.
Fermanagh had a controversial 2011 campaign, with many senior players refusing to line out for the county. Should a player of Canavan’s standing be unveiled as the new boss, it would be a huge boost for the game in that area of the country. Should Canavan be given the nod, he is expected to bring Fermanagh native Kieran Donnelly and former Tyrone County Board coaching officer Enda Kilpatrick with him as part of his back-room team.
