Galaxy star won’t seek winter loan move

Robbie Keane has insisted that he will not follow the example of David Beckham and seek a winter loan move.

The former Spurs striker, who has returned to LA ahead of this weekend’s MLS Cup final against Houston Dynamo, has insisted that an extended break and not a return to Europe would be the best preparation for the Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2012 campaign.

The 31 year-old is also keen to avoid injury, a feat that bestowed Beckham, who missed the 2010 World Cup after he suffered an Achilles tendon injury while playing for Milan during the 2009-10 campaign, ahead of his first European Championship.

Speaking to the Telegraph Keane said: “I won’t be looking to come back to Europe on loan, no way. It’s not something I want to do.

“I will have a couple of months off during the close season and use that time to rest and recharge my batteries and I think it could work in my favour building up to the Euros.
