Bus Éireann Women’s National League Preview

This weekend’s round of fixtures, throws up some mouthwatering games. A top of the table clash sees Raheny United and Peamount United come head to head.

Both teams on the back of impressive opening wins will be keen to keep the winning streak going. Megan Campbell has gone from strength to strength since stepping up to the senior women’s National side, but Campbell and her team mates will have their work cut out for them. Stephanie Roche has proved a handful for both Cork and Wexford with hat-tricks in both the opening games, while Aine O’Gorman’s pace and determination will be a cause for concern for Raheny.

Castlebar Celtic make the long road south to Cork Institute of Technology to face Cork Women’s FC. On the back of an impressive win against Shamrock Rovers last week, Celtic will be keen to stay in touch with the league leaders. Emma Mullin has been in goal scoring form, with a brace against both Wexford and Rovers, and will be keen to keep that form up. Cork Women’s FC got off to the worst possible start with a heavy defeat at the hands of Peamount and narrowly losing to Raheny last week. So the Leesiders will be looking to bounce back with a home win.

Wexford head to the capital for the second week in a row and will hoping that it’s not a repeat of last week’s demolition by Peamount. They face Shamrock Rovers, who they themselves are coming off the back of two heavy defeats. Both sides will be eager to get points on the board after this fixture which should give it an eagerly hard fought game.
