Annalise Murphy, the 21 years old Dublin student, today won both races on the penultimate day of the 2011 World Sailing Championships in Perth.
She has moved to fourth place overall. This was arguably Murphy’s finest ever performance , up against the world’s top Laser Radial competitors.
As she accurately said on her Facebook pages shortly after the second race: ”
“2 firsts on the final day of fleet racing! Can’t ask for much more than that!”
The Irish Sailing Association’s James O’Callaghan added: ”
“2 races, 2 firsts a perfect score for Annalise today. Back in the hunt for tomorrow’s Medal Race 🙂 ”
And so to tomorrow’s Medal race and albeit in fourth place as the race starts on Sunday, in her present outstanding form, Annalise remains very much in the hunt for another medal to add to that gained in Wemouth and Portland earlier this Summer.
Bouwmeester, Van Acker and Railey are all world class competitors so it is a huge task facing the young Dubliner tomorrow.
