Another exceptional performance from Kieran Behan in the Floor final at the North Greenwich Arena tonight saw him end the “London Prepares” Olympic test event in 4th position – and of course more importantly with a confirmed place in the 2012 Olympics , at the same venue later this year.
The final ended with GB’s Daniel Purvis and Chile’s Enrique Gonzalez sharing first place on 15.466 with Purvis taking gold on the strength of a better execution score.
Another Briton, Kristian Thomas in the bronze medal position with a score of 15.333
Behan, who scored 14.900 ,had at one point moved from sixth overnight to the bronze medal position but had to be content with fourth following the Chilean’s superb late showing. Kieran had also the second best execution score of the competition with 9.000, just behind Kristian Thomas (9.033).
Overall a great performance from the Croydon-based Behan which will give him and the Irish team great encouragement for the future. More from the North Greenwich Arena later.
