Hurricane Fly tops high class six for Irish Champion

Hurricane Fly will make his seasonal debut this Sunday at Leopardstown after he was declared, along with his stablemate Thousand Stars, for the BHP Irish Champion Hurdle.

In a small, but high class field, the Willie Mullins trained pair will be joined by Oscars Wells, Kalann, Voler La Vedette and Unaccompanied.

The declaration of Hurricane Fly means that the defending Champion Hurdler will step onto a racecourse in competitive action since he landed the Rabobank Champion Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival back in May. Despite this been his first race of the season, Hurricane Fly is expected to start a red hot favourite for the Grade 1 contest as he builds up towards the defence of his Champion Hurdle title at the Cheltenham festival in March.
