Emmanuel Frimpong is set for an extended period of time on the sidelines after Wolves confirmed that the midfielder has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The Ghanaian international has been on loan to Wolves from Arsenal since January and is set to return to the London club to start his rehabilitation.
A statement on Wolves’ official website read: “Emmanuel Frimpong is returning back to Arsenal after it was confirmed he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday’s Barclays Premier League game at QPR.”
The midfielder took to Twitter to thank the Wolves fans for all their best wishes. “Bad News is that I’m out for 6-9 months with my Knee Gd [sic] News is that I will therefore have all the time in my hands to be doin #frimmyfacts.
“I wanna thank all the Wolves fans for their support since I’ve been here and really Hope Wolves stay up this season.
“I also wanna ask you to pray for my cruciate injury as I will be taking all the punishment it deserves as he or she have been very naughty.”
