The Republic of Ireland Soccer Squad are not the only ones preparing to travel to a major International tournament this summer. The Mens Irish Volleyball Squad will be flying the flag at the CEV Small Nations Tournament in Luxembourg in May.
As part of the build up to this event the Nation’s best Volleyballers will be taking part in their annual training camp in University of Limerick (UL) this weekend.
Irish Head Coach, Laurent Cauet is anticipating a rewarding weekend; “Our visits to Limerick are always greatly anticipated by players and staff and as this will be our third year coming down to Limerick we like to use this weekend as a bench mark to see how the squad has developed over the years.”
Coach Cauet continued; “This weekend will be a very busy one for the players. On Saturday we will be based in UL where the players will be assessed both physically and psychologically.” They will conduct body fat tests under the guidance of Ennis based Richard Rocker of Pro Performance who will advise the players to ensure they are physically prepared for the demands of international competition.
The players will also be assisted by Newcastle West based Sports Psychologist Julieanne McAuliffe who will be on hand to advise the players on how to keep the mental advantage while on court.
On Sunday the players will play a friendly match against Premier Men club Munster Thunder in Croom at 1pm.
