Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Barcelona defender Gerard Pique who has been linked with a summer move.
The 25 year old spent four seasons with United before re-joining his home town club Barcelona in 2008. Since his return to Spain, he has become an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s back line, helping the club to three successive La Liga titles and two Champions League’s.
He has also become a mainstay of the Spanish defence, helping his country to the 2010 World Cup.
The 37 times capped Pigue has suffered a dip in form which has led to El Economista reporting that this has put former club United on red alert to his availability.
The report also suggests that any move from Sir Alex Ferguson would be rivalled by Chelsea, who are keen to revamp their aging squad.
It’s unsure whether Barcelona would consider selling the defender however a lot may depend on whether Guardiola decides to stay with the club as he enters the final few months of his 12 month rolling contract.
