Reynolds & Gregan achieve World Indoor standards

Ben Reynolds (North Down AC) has achieved the qualification standard for the World Indoor Track and Field championships that will be held in Istanbul in March.

Reynolds finished second in 7.74 to hit the standard and break his U23 Irish Indoor Record at the International Flanders Athletics Meeting in Belgium tonight. Reynolds missed the time by one hundredth of a second when winning the national title in 7.75 last weekend.

Brian Gregan (Clonliffe Harriers) also dipped under the qualification standard of 46.90 when setting a personal best of 46.66 to finish second in the 400m.

Derval O’Rourke (Leevale AC) made a decision earlier in the week not to compete in 60m Hurdlers at the same event in order to give her slight foot niggle time to recovery.

Joanne Cuddihy (Kilkenny City Harriers) continued her winning ways to take first place at the Sydney Track Classic with a time of 51.86 improving on her season opener 52.08 at the Perth Track Classic last week. Cuddidy will continue her quest of achieving the Olympic qualification standard of 51.55 (originally set at 51.50 by the IAAF council) . At the same meet, Paul Robinson (St. Cocoa’s AC) set a personal best when finishing eighth in the 1500m in 3:40.50 .
