Donegal defender breaks ankle

Donegal’s centre back Leo McLoone looks likely to be out of action for a number of months after breaking his ankle during a club game at the weekend.

McLoone was playing for his club Naomh Conaill against Termon on Sunday, when he sustained the injury. He was subsequently taken to hospital and will now undergo surgery at the Beacon in Dublin.

Donegal boss Jim McGuinness told The Examiner: “The ankle is broken and to make matters worse and to compound the injury he also dislocated the ankle. He is due to undergo surgery in Dublin on Wednesday and will be in a cast for eight weeks and then it will be a matter of doing rehab”.
