Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said he would love to sign Robin Van Persie but believes the Dutch man will remain at Arsenal.
The 28-year-old, who has netted 32 goals (in 36 appearances) for the north London club this season, is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium in 2013 and has has refused to hold talks over a new deal until the end of the season. Speaking of the 62 times capped starlet, Mancini has said: “I think Van Persie at this moment is one of the best strikers in Europe with [Lionel] Messi, [Cristiano] Ronaldo and alongside Sergio [Aguero] and Mario [Balotelli]. I think he is a fantastic striker, but I think he will remain with Arsenal.”
Mancini bought Samir Nasri from Arsenal last summer and has also signed Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Adebayor from the Gunners in recent years. Mancini said that he expects Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League title next season and for that reason he was not expecting Van Persie to be sold by the club as the Dutch man is one of their top performers.
