Everton have signed a lucrative new kit deal with US sportswear giant Nike Incorporated.
As the current kit supplier of Manchester United and Arsenal; the world’s biggest sporting brand have added one of England’s oldest clubs to their stable of big name clubs.
Everton’s current deal with Le Coq Sportif expires at the end of the season and the Merseyside club will wear the “Swoosh” on their kit for the start of the 2012-’13 season. The deal with Nike is believed to be of similar financial value to that of their current kit supplier.
However, where Everton are hoping to benefit is from the worldwide reach of the world’s biggest sportswear brand with the club hoping to exploit this fact and thereby build substantially on their existing fan base. By signing up to a premier sporting brand the club hope to be able to profit by expanding sales of other merchandise outside of just team shirts.
