Fresh from denying that he is set to sign Lukas Podolski in the summer Arsene Wenger is now being linked with a move for Dynamo Kiev’s Ukrainian international striker Andriy Yarmolenko
Midweek reports had claimed that the Gunners had reached an agreement for Podolski however speaking in his pre match conference on Friday, Wenger dismissed those claims saying “. At the moment we have not signed anybody. There is still no agreement.
“The distance to the agreement is not always linked with the signing. When you are very close you are quickly very far again, but Podolski is a good player, I wouldn’t deny that.”
While it looks like Arsenal will certainly attempt to sign the Polish born striker in the summer reports have identified Yarmolenko as the plan B.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian international has scored 7 goals in 18 games for his country and since making his Dynamo debut in 2008 has scored 29 goals in 84 games (70 starts).
This season he has already equalled his tally for the 2010/2011 season having scored 11 goals.
