Dawn Approach takes Curragh opener in style

Dawn Approach gave his sire New Approach his first two year old winner when the chestnut colt landed the Tally Ho Stud European Breeders Fund Maiden at the Curragh on a sun kissed Sunday afternoon.

Sent off the 11/10 favourite Dawn Approach travelled sweetly for jockey Kevin Manning and had only to be given minimal encouragement to go about his work to land the odds by 1 3/4 lengths from Canary Row and the Aidan O’Brien trained Forester.

Speaking after the race Jim Bolger was pleased with the performance saying. “You never know what are in the two year old races but we were hopeful of a good performance. We will no try to move him up the grades.

“He is a very laid back colt and while there is no firm plans at the moment we could come back here in September (for the Group 1 National Stakes)”

The winning time for the race was 1min.623.
