Carlton House has today been installed as the 6/4 favourite for this weekends Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh despite not been confirmed as a definite runner for Irelands premier classic.
His connections have been mulling over weather or not the colt should make the trip to Ireland but bookmakers are not taking any chances and have installed him as a warm favourite to gain compensation for his defeat in the Epsom Derby.
The Street Cry colt, who was sent off hot favourite for the Epsom Derby three weeks ago, would also be a first runner for the Queen if he were to line up on Sunday afternoon. The chances of Carlton House taking his place in the lineup have been boosted after the colt delighted connections when he worked well at Newmarket last Saturday.
Joe Burke, Stan James Ireland spokesman, who’s firm have Carlton House as favourite, said: “The vibes after Carlton House’s good piece of work on Saturday would indicate he is likely to travel to the Curragh. His form entitles him to go off a warm favourite and his participation will certainly add colour to the event.”
If Carlton House does line up on Sunday then he will re oppose Treasure Beach, who finished ahead d of him three weeks ago and Recital who didn’t do himself justice when he finished down the field at Epsom.
