Celtic chase Irish winger

Celtic are interested in signing Ireland and Wolves winger Stephen Hunt before the end of the January transfer window.

Hunt signed for Wolves for £3m in June 2010, but the 30 year old has only been a rotational player in Mick McCarthy’s squad this season.

The winger has only played 24 minutes in Wolves’ last three matches and he may be tempted to move in search of first-team football as he tries to cement his place in Giovanni Trapattoni’s Euro 2012 squad.

Hunt has had stints at three Premier League clubs since 2006. The Ireland winger scored nine goals and notched-up 11 assists in two top-flight seasons with Reading, while he had six goals and five assists in his lone season with Hull. The 30 year old has six league goals and six assists with Wolves in his 18 months at the club.
