The prospect of having television match officials at GAA matches has moved a step closer after a motion from a club in County Leitrim was passed at the weekend.
The Seán O’Heslins club from Ballinamore put forward the motion which was overwhelmingly passed at the annual Leitrim convention on Sunday. It will now go before the GAA congress in Portlaoise next April.
Club executive member and PRO Seán Ó Súilleabháin said the move to introduce “on-the-spot video evidence” was an effort to get rid of controversial scores in big matches.
He said their proposal should be used in conjunction with the Hawk-Eye technology, which the GAA are currently trialling.
