Ireland’s women’s team chosen

The Irish Women’s Team has been selected for the European Ultimate Championship which is being held in August in Slovenia.

19 players were chosen to represent their country following trials.

The coaching duo of Linda Barry and Laura McGrath were very appreciative of the time and effort
that all triallists put in – players who made the team were congratulated and those that did not received encouragement that they might succeed in future.

The EUC 2011 is being hosted in Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia. The quadrennial tournament will see 24 European countries compete. Finland are the reigning champions, having won EUC 2007. Ireland
came 10th in the 2007 tournament, and expects to improve on that result this year.

The team is:

McDonald , Yvonne Halpin , Finola Shannon , Olly Murphy , Louise McKeon , Liz Schaffalitzky , Claire Pugh ,Helen Hobson ,Mary McKee .
