Lie Foritt out of Scottish National

Top fancy for Saturday’s Coral Scottish National Lie Foritt has now been ruled out of the race due to coughing.

Willie Amos’ gelding was as short as 10/1 for the marathon event and and was fancied by his trainer to go very close.
He spoke to racingpost.com “I’m devastated. The ground had come right and I was sure he was well handicapped, then this has happened.

“I’ve had a few cough recently and it was swept through the whole of the yard. It was not until this morning that he coughed and I’m sure it’s nothing more than a common cold but he can’t run now.”

Connections have been rather unlucky all season as they were forced to miss races like the Midlands National due to the quick ground.

Amos added: “When have you known Uttoxeter to water for the Midlands National? It sums our season up really. We’ve had a string of seconds and it’s very frustrating. That’s him finished for the season.”
Paul Nicholls’ Harry The Viking is the current 6/1F with the sponsor, while main Irish hope Portrait King is around an 8/1 shot.
