Mayo footballer, Conor Mortimer could miss Mayo’s entire 2011 campaign after revealing knee surgery will keep him out of football until August.
The 27-year-old will be operated on at the Santry sports clinic on Friday week to repair a long-standing knee complaint and is facing up to at least six month’s on the sidelines.
The corner forward, who is studying for a masters in sports management at UUJ, met surgeon Ray Moran last Friday and found that an operation was the best course of action. Mortimer has been played the last seven years without a cruciate ligament in his left knee but after recent injury problems , he has been forced to go under the knife:
“Ray was amazed that I got away with it for a few years. He told me this is the way it is, you have to get it done. And it will give me an extra couple of years on my career.”
