Mortimer quits Mayo

Trevor Mortimer has announced his retirement from Mayo’s inter county panel.

The 31 year-old will be unavailable due to the fact that he has work commitments in Kenya.

The former Mayo captain has played no part in Mayo’s national league campaign this year and informed manager James Horan of his decision during a recent two-week return home.

Trevor is the older brother of the better known Conor.  Mortimer Snr. made his Mayo debut in 2000 and played in the 2004 All-Ireland final against Kerry.  He was a substitute for  the 2006 final and won a league medal in 2001.
