Arsene Wenger has confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast forward Gervinho from Lille. The 24 year old is reported to have cost Arsenal close to £11m.
Arsenal and Gervinho have had contract talks over the past week after the Gunners agreed a fee with Lille earlier in the summer.
The forward becomes Wenger’s second summer signing after youngster Carl Jenkinson, but Gervinho will not join Arsenal on their Asian pre-season tour.
Gervinho has played for Belgian club Beveren and French sides Le Mans and Lille during his career.
2011 was especially successful for the Ivorian, as Lille won a league and cup double in France and Gervinho sccored a total of 18 goals.
Wenger also claimed that both Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas will stay with the Gunners next season.
Fabregas has been heavily linked to Barcelona for the second consecutive summer, while Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Inter are rumoured to be interested in Nasri.
