Preview
Limerick come into the game on the back of a 2-14 to 0-18 win over Tipperary last weekend. Many in the crowd and those watching at home probably thought Tipperary were going to blow the Shannonsiders away after their first half performance. In fact John Kiely’s side were 10 points down at the break. However, Barry Nash, William O’Donoghue and Diarmuid Byrnes thundered into the game in the second half. John Kiely speaking to RTE said, “It was a great warning sign for us, that these things can happen. We thought we had our preparation bang on the money coming in to tonight but for whatever reason we just weren’t at it. It’s a warning shot for us going forward and it’s a good time of year to get that warning shot.”
Galway come into this game on the back of a 1-24 to 0-10 win over Westmeath at Pearse Stadium. There was some big performances from Tadhg Harnan, Joe Canning and Conor Whelan. This will be a much tougher game than that but it promises to be exciting with the amount of quality players that will be on show. Speaking to Galway Bay FM, Galway vice captain Conor Whelan said he is looking forward to the game, he said, “It will be a big test, from our perspective we are focus on ourselves really. The Kinvara man said “It’s good to be getting competitive games this time of the year and it will be a true reflection of where were at”.
