Leicester City kick off their league season with a trip to newly-promoted West Brom.
Brendan Rogers will be frustrated at his sides’ poor finish to last season. As a result, they finished just outside the Champion’s League spots.
In contrast, the Baggies finished strongly to secure second place in the Championship. After a two-year absence, they return to the top flight. Slaven Bilic’s Premier League experience will be a valuable asset. Previously, he was West Ham’s manager between 2015 and 2017.
Rogers has been relatively inactive in the transfer window so far. Ben Chilwell is the major name to leave the club. He joined Chelsea for a reported £50 million. Nonetheless, Rogers recruited Timothy Castagne from Atalanta to fill the void.
Meanwhile, West Brom have poached midfielder Grady Diangana from West Ham. He joins new signings Matheus Pereira, Cedric Kipre, and David Button.
Leicester are favourites to take all three points here. With Europa League football in their schedule this year, it’s important for the Foxes to start the season well. In addition, rapid turnarounds between games will take a toll over the course of a season. Thankfully, Jamie Vardy is getting better with age. Now 33, Vardy won the Golden Boot last season with 23 goals.
