Bulgaria v Northern Ireland – Preview, Team News, Odds, Where To Watch

Northern Ireland have travelled to Bulgaria for their sixth World Cup qualifier of the campaign at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia on Tuesday night.

Northern Ireland fell to Switzerland last time out in a 2-0 defeat which saw left-back Jamal Lewis receive his marching orders in a controversial fashion with a second yellow card in the first half for time-wasting.

The side were dominated on the ball and created very little against a Swiss side that took 27 shots.

Bulgaria are looking to bounce back from shock 3-1 loss to Lithuania in Vilnius – the Green and White Army won 4-1 on their travels to the Eastern European country.

The two teams are level on points in Group C and Ian Baraclough’s away side will be hoping to get some breathing room in third.

Bulgaria sit in fourth on a worse goal difference of -5, while Steven Davis and co. benefit from their -1 differential.

Northern Ireland were held to a goalless draw by Bulgaria in Belfast in March and another close encounter is expected on Tuesday night.

Jonny Evans has not joined the squad due to an illness on top of his long-standing foot injury that he suffered in the FA Cup final.

Bulgaria, on the other hands, have all players at their disposal for the World Cup qualifier clash.

Both sides are hoping to earn their second win of the campaign and lead the race for third place.

A win will all but eliminate the loser – Switzerland play Lithuania this evening.

Probable Lineups

Eden Hazard on the cards for a return to Chelsea

After three poor years in Madrid, the rumors have returned that star Eden Hazard could come back to the club that made him a legend

Roman Abramovich has spoken optimistically about the chances that Eden Hazard will return to his club. According to outlet El Nacional, the Belgian winger will try to rejoin Chelsea by the start of next season.

There are high hopes of the deal going through with Abramovich ‘increasingly convinced’ of the star’s return to Stamford Bridge.

Hazard left for Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 for a price of around €100 million with plans of becoming the new Ronaldo figure at the club. Injuries and what seems to be a lack of motivation have really hampered his chances at the club.

In his first two seasons at the club, he could not manage more than 15 starts in the league, only getting 4 goals and five assists in total. This year has not started much better with him picking up a muscle injury on international duty.

Even if he is not sold for much, the club will want him off their wage bill. Hazard’s highly lucrative deal will last for another two years so it is best that they sell him now.

How would the deal work out?

If the deal happened, Madrid will want Chelsea to part with a reported €40 million. This would be a €60 million profit for the Blues but is it still worth their money.

There is another option on the cards for the London club. Rumors have circulated that Real Madrid would be interested in a swap deal where right-back Reece James would move to Spain.

This option would help the Galacticos with their defensive options. Their main starter Dani Carvajal has been hit with spells of injuries in recent years. James would be a great steal for the club if he can get over the language barrier.

Although the move is unlikely, it is of much interest and debate amongst the Chelsea fans.

Who’ll follow Salah into Premier League’s 100 Club?

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool joined the Premier League’s 100 Club, becoming the 30th player to achieve that fete. But who will be the 31st player to join Salah into the club?

Last month, Mohamed Salah cemented his place in an elite Premier League club by scoring his 100th goal in the league for Liverpool.

Salah scored his 100th goal for Liverpool in their 3-0 win over Leeds United, putting him in the renowned “100 Club” of players who have scored 100 goals or more in the Premier League since 1992-93.

Liverpool’s undefeated record now stands at 16 games (12 victories and four draws) which is the longest active stretch in the division.

The EPL is set to return on Saturday, and Vwin will continue to update soccer scores online for fans to get a feel of the action. Vwin is a reputable Vietnamese betting company bringing sports events from all over the world.

Salah became the 30th player to achieve triple digits since Alan Shearer joined the team in 1995-96 when he diverted home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross in the 20th minute. With 260 goals for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, the former England captain remains the league’s all-time leading scorer.

Shearer also holds the record for scoring 100 Premier League goals in the fewest number of games, requiring only 124 appearances during his ludicrously productive stint at Blackburn. Harry Kane (141 games) is the second-fastest player to reach the century mark in the Premier League, with Sergio Aguero (147), Thierry Henry (160), and Mohamed Salah (162) filling out the top five.

Salah becomes the latest member of the 100 Club since Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy won his spot in April 2020. Salah hit the milestone with 98 goals for Liverpool and two goals for Chelsea earlier in his career. Vardy, along with Kane (166 goals) and Romelu Lukaku (120 goals), is one of just three active Premier League players above Salah in the 100 Club (116).

There are many active Premier League players immediately behind Salah on the list who are on the verge of becoming centurion members, with a handful on track to do so before the end of the 2021-22 season. So, who’ll be the next in line?

Sadio Mane – Liverpool (99 goals)

Mane’s goal in Liverpool’s 2-02 draw against Manchester City puts him just a goal short of his Premier League century. He shared the 2018-19 title with colleague Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He is also the third-highest scoring African player in Premier League history, behind Didier Drogba (104) and Mohamed Salah (102).

Raheem Sterling – Manchester City (97 goals)

Sterling is just three goals away from dining in the 100 club table, having converted from a typical winger to a prolific attacker under Pep Guardiola’s tutelage. Since 2017-18, Sterling has scored an average of 16 league goals each season for City, a huge improvement on his prior average scoring rate of just five league goals per season.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Manchester United (87 goals)

Ronaldo got closer to his Premier League century with a brace in his second debut for United in their 4-1 win over Newcastle, and a winner in their 2-1 away victory against West Ham. The Portuguese is 13 goals short of a century, four behind his current United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who scored 91 league goals for the club during his playing career. Don’t rule out the possibility of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner joining the elite club before the season ends.

Ireland v Qatar – Preview, Betting, Probable Starting Teams, TV Coverage

The Boys in Green finally have a win under their belt and now this game is a chance for them to raise their confidence levels

Ireland v Qatar kicks off at 19:45 tonight, 12th October in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The match will be shown live on RTE 2, RTE Player, and Sky Sports Premier League Ireland.

Manager Stephen Kenny is now three games unbeaten, including his win over Azerbaijan on Saturday. Now that he has his first win and first competitive win, he will now want his first win at home.

In seven attempts, Kenny has not managed to triumph in the Aviva Stadium. His heavily changed squad will want to make their mark with a win today.

Qatar has now been joined by Germany as the first team to qualify for the next World Cup. They may be optimistic but manager Felix Sanchez will want them to start winning so that they will not be embarrassed at home.

Qatar have now gone five matches without a victory with losses to the USA and Serbia. They will play a strong team in hopes of scoring some goals.

These two countries are only recent opponents. In current history, Ireland has only faced Qatar once, in a friendly back in March. That day, the Boys in Green were disappointed to draw 1-1 even though the Qatari team dominated possession and chances.

Ireland are 4/6 to win, maybe use the Sky Bet sign up offer to back Robinson at 9/2 to score first.

Score Prediction

Bar Ireland’s last victory, goals have been hard to come by. Qatar has been in worse form than the Irish with only two goals in five matches so do not expect this game to be full of goals. Kenny may lineup a weaker side to try out some new players so this game could go either way.

Expect the game to end 2-1 to Ireland.

Leicester City v Manchester United – Preview, Lineups, Betting, TV Coverage

Leicester City and Manchester United will go head-to-head on the Gameweek 8 of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.

This game will be an interesting game for both teams. The last time these two sides met was last May where Brendan Rodger’s side came out 1-2 victors at Old Trafford. Leicester also took 4 points from 6 from United in the 2020/2021 season.

Leicester City Retrospective

Brendan Rodger’s side have gone under the radar with how poor they have been so far this season. Currently sitting 13th in the league table. They have fallen off after contending for Champions League football the past 2-3 seasons.

In their last game, they threw away a 2 goal lead at Crystal Palace, ending up a point after goals from Michael Olise and Jeffrey Schlupp.

Winning 2, losing 3 and drawing 2 after seven games, picking up 8 points from a possible 21, they will need a win here.

Manchester United Retrospective

After high promise at the start of the season, United have hit somewhat of a decline in form as of late. In the last outing, they drew 1-1 at home against Everton but were fortunate to not have lost after a Yerry Mina goal was chalked off for offside.

After their first seven games, they have won 4, lost 1 and drawn 2, picking up 14 points out of a possible 21.

Date, kick-off time and venue

This game between Leicester City and Manchester United will kick off at 3:00 pm BST (British Summer Time) on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at The King Power Stadium.

Where to watch Leicester City v Manchester United

The game will not be televised on any UK based platform.

Leicester City v Manchester United team news

Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is out with a thigh injury and is expected to be back fit sometime next month.

James Justin is also out with a knee injury and is also expected back in November. While defender Jonny Evans is in contention to start after an ankle issue.

Marcus Rashford is in contention to get his first competitive game since last summer’s European Championship after his shoulder surgery.

Harry Maguire is still in doubt with a foot injury but may start. While defensive partner Raphael Varane picked up a groin injury on international duty and is set to miss out.

Leicester City v Manchester United Prediction

This is a close one to call, with Leicester in dire need of much-needed 3 points here to avoid any talk of relegation.

While United have many fans and pundits alike to silence after some woeful performances.

I can see it going either way but I am going for a United win here, but just.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace – Preview, Lineups, Betting, TV Coverage

Arsenal v Crystal Palace – Preview, Lineups, Betting, TV Coverage

Arsenal and Crystal Palace will go head-to-head on the Gameweek 8 of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.

This game will be an interesting game for both teams. The last time these two sides met was last May where Mikel Arteta saw his side come out 1-3 victors at Selhurst Park. With Arsenal taking 4 points from 6 from Palace in the 2020/2021 season.

Arsenal Retrospective

After a terrible start to the season, with 3 losses from 3, scoring no goals and conceding 9 against Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City, the future of Mikel Arteta looked bleak.

Since then they have been on a decent run of form, remaining undefeated in their last 5 in all competitions.

In their last league game, Arsenal were somewhat fortunate to come away with a point against Brighton, but prior to that, they put in their performance of the season so far with a 3-1 home away against North London rivals Tottenham at The Emirates.

Crystal Palace Retrospective

After their impressive 3-0 home victory against Tottenham on September 11, Palace was brought down to earth with a 0-3 loss to Liverpool at Anfield.

They currently sit 14th, with 1 win, 2 losses and 4 draws. 7 points from a possible 21 were to be expected after a change of manager, especially from a manager like Patrick Vieira.

This will be the Frenchmen’s first game back at his old club as manager. where he captained some of the great Arsene Wenger teams.

Date, kick-off time and venue

This game between Arsenal and Crystal Palace will kick off at 8 pm BST (British Summer Time) on Monday, 18 October 2021, at The Emirates.

Where to watch Arsenal v Crystal Palace

The game will be televised live on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event with coverage starting at 7:00 pm.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace team news

For Arsenal, their only injury concern is the absence of captain Granit Xhaka after the midfielder picked up a serious knee injury in Arsenal’s 0-0 draw away to Brighton. He is set to miss out until December at the latest.

For Palace, Nathan Ferguson is out with a shin injury with no return day. While Eberechi Eze is suffering from lower leg problems and will be ruled out long-term.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace prediction

Arsenal looks like they are steadily improving game by game after their abysmal start to the season. With new signings, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale impressing the Arsenal faithful.

Palace will be more than up for this game after their heroic comeback against Leicester, which saw them trail by two goals to nil with half an hour left on the clock.

I can see a close game, but I fully expect the Gunners to spoil Patrick Vieira’s return to the club he once captained.

Prediction: 2-0 Arsenal

Predicted Line-Up

Arsenal Predicted XI – (4-2-3-1)
A. Ramsdale, K. Tierney, Gabriel, B. White, T. Tomiyasu, A. Sambi Lonkonga, T. Partey, E. Smith Rowe, M. Odegaard, B. Saka, P. Emerick Aubameyang.
Crystal Palace Predicted XI – (4-3-3)

V. Guaita, J. Ward, J. Andresen, M. Guehi, T. Mitchell, C. Gallagher, C. Kouyaté, J. McArthur, J. Ayew, C. Benteke, W. Zaha.

Good news for Ulster Rugby after recent Squad Update

The Ulster Rugby Medical Performance team has issued a squad update ahead of Friday’s United Rugby Championship fixture against Emirates Lions at Kingspan Stadium

Ulster Rugby’s new squad update has shown no new injury concerns following last week’s URC match in Belfast. In the game, they showed a strong team performance to beat Benetton at home 28-8 on Friday.

The bonus-point victory brings even more optimism for the fans of Dan McFarland’s team as they continue their winning run this season.

The Ulster Medical team has made an announcement today, giving a very positive squad update for the week ahead.

Marty Moore suffered a concussion in training last week, and he is currently following the concussion Return to Play protocols.

Kieran Treadwell, Rob Lyttle, Eric O’Sullivan, Robert Baloucoune and David O’Connor have all now resumed full team training following their recent respective periods of unavailability.

Ulster’s next match will be a very challenging affair. They will face their first South African opponents of the new URC when they play against the Lions.

The match will kick off at 19:35 on Friday, 15th October in the Kingspan Stadium in Belfast.

Dancer names new-look Ireland side for World Cup qualifiers

Ireland women’s coach Sean Dancer has named an 18-player central panel and two travelling reserves ahead of next week’s vital World Cup qualifying competition which takes place in Pisa from October 21st to 24th.

The eight-team competition will be played in a knock-out format with only one side earning a place at next summer’s World Cup which will be played at venues in Spain and the Netherlands.

Ireland, who are the highest-ranked side in the qualifiers, meet France in their first game on October 21st (10.30 am, Irish time).

The winner going on to play either Russia or Belarus. Scotland, Poland, Italy and Wales are on the other side of the draw.

Dancer’s central panel features 15 of the squad that travelled to the Olympic Games in July with Niamh Carey, Erin Getty and Ellen Curran coming into the line-up.

“I am excited about the future and the balance within the squad,” coach Dancer said of his selection. “We have retained a lot of experience and have a lot of excitement coming through. It sits really nicely.”

For the players coming in, they have been aided by a comprehensive summer program with the Irish development squad, overseen by David Passmore which has been a fruitful avenue for those making the step up.

UCD’s Niamh Carey joins her twin sister Michelle in the panel and is on course to make her first capped international appearance in the quarter-final against France.

She has been part of the panel for most of the past year and lined out against Great Britain in a couple of challenge matches.

Queen’s University’s Erin Getty was one of the guiding lights of the summer developmental series to force her way back into senior international reckoning.

The Queen’s University player earned eight caps in 2017 and 18 before a number of injuries set back her progress.

Pembroke’s Ellen Curran is another to return to the line-up. With 24 caps to her name, she was involved with the Green Army setup in the early phases of 2020, touring South Africa, prior to the postponement of the Games to 2021.

“Niamh has been in and around the senior group previously and has built on her strength on the ball and is scoring goals. She is very dangerous as an attacking player and we hope she will continue that.

“Erin played for Ireland before but never previously with me due to a long term injury which put her out for a while but, to her credit, she has worked really hard to get back into a position to be in the green shirt again.

“For Ellen, she had issues around her calf and ankle which didn’t make things easy for her but, once again, she took that time to work on areas we wanted her to. Credit to her, she staked her claim for a spot now and looking forward to seeing her use her speed and skill to create some havoc.

Of the Tokyo panel, Shirley McCay, Hannah Matthews, Lizzie Colvin and Nicci Daly have since stepped back from the program as have Nikki Evans and Grace O’Flanagan.

Reflecting on that changing of the guard, coach Dancer said it is “a natural” progression for the side in the wake of the Olympic Games, paying tribute to their immense contributions to the cause.

“It’s amazing how much effort the players have put into not just the last three years but the last eight to ten years to qualify for their first-ever Olympics, giving it everything they’ve got,” Dancer said.

“It is natural some will step away and, for others, they needed a good break to refresh and get back to life, work, family and social things. I wanted to make sure everyone got a good break and once all the dust had settled, it’s certainly great to have a lot of experience in the group.

“Anna O’Flanagan, Chloe, Róisín, Ayeisha, Lena, Katie, Deirdre – we do have a huge amount there from the Olympics and beyond. We have to draw on that first of all and expect those guys to stand up under pressure which I certainly know they will.

“The flip side is the excitement. We have players who have never had a test match before; first-ever event and they get to try qualify for a World Cup.”

The tournament also allows for two travelling reserves with Charlotte Beggs and Jane Kilpatrick joining the panel in Pisa.

While first opponents France are the lowest-ranked side in the competition, Dancer is more than wary of what they have to offer. With the Paris Games in mind, they have been working together close to full-time for a number of years and a silver medal at this summer’s EuroHockey Championship II shows they are on the rise.

“France has been preparing well, not just this year, but with 2024 in their sights and getting there as host nation, they have a lot to play for. They did really well in the European Division 2 tournament. First team to meet, it will not be easy but we have to back our experience and what we have done in the last 18 months to get over the top of them.”

Leinster confirm Harry Byrne and Rory O’Loughlin out of Scarlets game

Leinster have confirmed that fly-half Harry Byrne and centre Rory O’Loughlin have been ruled out of the side’s upcoming United Rugby Championship clash with Scarlets.

Leinster will play Scarlets at the RDS Arena on Saturday, October 16 in round four of the league after 10,400 supporters experienced Saturday’s 43-7 win against Zebre Parma.

Harry Byrne will have further assessment on a hip injury today having been injured during the first half against Zebre Parma.

Rory O’Loughlin, who injured his shoulder in the 7-6 win over Dragons, also requires further assessment this week.

However, there is a lot of positive news for the defending champions as several players have stepped up their recovery.

Cullen confirmed that Jordan Larmour (groin) and Adam Byrne (hamstring) came through the game against Zebre Parma with no issues and will train as normal this week.

The pair scored three tries between them at the weekend in the 36-point win over the Italians.

Also making a return to training this week will be Josh Murphy who has recovered from a calf injury.

There was also further positive news for Jack Dunne who aims to return to full training this week as he returns from an ankle injury.

Ciarán Frawley and Scott Penny picked up soft tissue injuries (dead leg) against Zebre Parma on Saturday and will be further assessed this week before a final decision is made on their availability for the game against Scarlets.

There are no further updates on: Dave Kearney (ankle), Michael Milne (calf), Will Connors (knee) and Thomas Clarkson (hamstring)
