Newcastle v Leeds – Preview, Team News, Betting

Leeds United travel to Newcastle on week five of the Premier League looking for their first win of the season

The game will kick off at 20:00 on Friday, 17th September in St. James’ Park with Mike Dean refereeing.

This has been another poor start to the season for Newcastle, after four games they have only managed one draw against Southampton. This sees them languishing 19th place as fans grow even more frustrated.

Last year’s wunderkind Joe Willock has yet to find his form while the squad has been hit with a few injuries to key players. Although they are at home, this will be a very challenging match for them.

Leeds has not faired much better in the league this season, they have only grabbed two draws in their fixtures and sit in 17th place. Bielsa will plan to turn their fortune around at the weekend after a tough run of fixtures.

The team will need to contend with only having one full-time center half available after Struijk’s red card was not rescinded.

These two sides have been very evenly matched in recent years, playing against each other in both the Premier League and Championship. Last season, Leeds proved to be stronger winning both ties including a thrilling 5-2 game before Christmas.

Expect this game to end 3-1 to Leeds.

New Zealand team Announced for Fortinet Rugby Championship Brisbane Test against Argentina

New Zealand team Announced for Fortinet Rugby Championship Test at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, on Saturday 18 September (Kick-off: 8.05 PM AEST, 10.05 PM NZT).

In the starting front row, Joe Moody is in the number one jersey after his return to the All Blacks off the bench last week, with hooker Samisoni Taukei’aho making his first Test start.

Tyrel Lomax will start in the number three jersey. There is also a welcome return to the All Blacks for prop Ofa Tuungafasi who will return to international rugby via the bench, following his recovery from knee surgery.  Prop George Bower will also bolster the front row from the reserves bench.

In the second row, Patrick Tuipulotu is back from a groin strain and will start alongside Tupou Vaa’i.  Scott Barrett will provide impact from the bench.

In the loose forwards, Ethan Blackadder and Hoskins Sotutu will make their second Test starts, at blindside and number eight respectively while Ardie Savea returns as captain in the number seven jersey. Luke Jacobson is the loose forward cover.

In the back, TJ Perenara is at halfback with Finlay Christie, making his first appearance in the Fortinet Rugby Championship, at reserve halfback. Damian McKenzie has been named to start his second Test in the playmaker 10 jersey while Quinn Tupaea gets his second Test start at 12 inside the experienced Rieko Ioane.

New Zealand team Announced for Fortinet Rugby Championship Brisbane Test against Argentina

All Blacks Head Coach Ian Foster spoke about his team selection ahead of their second test against Argentina;

“With five Tests in a row and a six-day turnaround between these two Argentinian Tests, we were always going to make some selection changes. Five Tests in a row demanded that.  But the good thing is that we have a group that has been focussing on the same opposition for the last two weeks, so our preparation time hasn’t been compromised.

“We are expecting a huge response from Argentina and we have to make sure we are prepared for that because we know what a wounded beast is like.  The key is not so much how they respond, but how we respond. If we go into this Test match thinking it’s just going to happen for us like last week without earning the right to have the scoreboard in our favour, then we are in trouble.”

GAA Launches Survey To Shape Next Strategic Plan

The GAA is launching a landmark survey to give all players, members and supporters an opportunity to shape the Association’s next five-year strategic plan.

For the first time, the Association will use Foireann – its purpose-built membership management system – to send the survey link directly to the e-mail address of every eligible member.

Since April of this year, the Association’s Strategic Plan Steering Group chaired by Uachtarán CLG, Larry McCarthy, has been consulting with a wide range of its members and partners to determine broad focus areas and issues.

He said: “This process of engagement with our membership will be hugely important in helping us to establish the direction of travel for the Association over the next five years.

“Over the next 10 days, there will be an opportunity for members – across every section of the GAA – to have their say on what they believe are the issues we need to prepare for and what solutions might help us meet those challenges.

“I urge everyone to take up this opportunity and we look forward to feedback that for the first time we will be asking for via Foireann, our own membership system.”

The questions in the survey are based on the feedback from a comprehensive programme of research which included surveys and focus groups with players, coaches, officers, other volunteers, and employees at Club and County levels, along with other key GAA stakeholders.

The Steering Group wants everyone to have a say in shaping the Association’s future has engaged data analytics experts to pinpoint the key themes from the survey which should inform their thinking on the strategic change required.

The group is especially eager to ensure that the views of Club members are reflected in the Association’s strategic priorities. All feedback will be reviewed over the course of several workshops the Steering Group will hold this October to create the strategic plan before it is present to An Coiste Bainistíochta for approval.

Ard Stiúrthóir Tom Ryan added: “Having a clear vision and strategy for the Assocation over the next five years is of utmost importance and equally, finding out from the wider membership the concerns and aspirations for our organisation can only benefit this work.

“Our clubs and their members drive Cumann Lúthchleas Gael and this is a chance for them to be heard as priorities are identified.

“We want a diverse range of perspectives and ideas, so our strategy solves real problems and exploits meaningful opportunities. I would encourage as many members as possible to complete the survey.”

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and the deadline for completing the survey is 2 pm on Friday, September 24.

All-Ireland Poc Fada finals announced on 60 year anniversary

The 2021 M. Donnelly GAA All-Ireland Poc Fada Finals were officially launched by Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Larry McCarthy and Uachtarán a Cumann Camógaíochta, Hilda Breslin in Croke Park yesterday

This year’s competition is an invitational event that will see recent competitors return to Annaverna Mountain in what promises to be a highly competitive field. Also, it marks 60 years of All-Ireland Poc Fada competition.

There will be celebrations in honour of the very first Poc Fada which saw six Under 16 boys compete on Annaverna Mountain. The four surviving players and their family members have been invited to the event this year.

The competition will also remember two great Poc Fada loyalists, former champion Oliver Gough (1964) and Lester Ryan who championed the competition at every level and was responsible for so many others driving this unique event.

The unique Gaelic Games contest promises to be a great day of sport. Speaking at the launch Larry McCarthy said:

“I am delighted to see the return of this unique sporting event which embodies the broad cultural and historical significance of our unique game of hurling.

We are honouring that designation by holding an event which sustains and secures a heritage dating back to Cu Chulainn.”

Speaking about this year’s Finals Uachtarán an Cumann Camógaíochta Hilda Breslin said:

“It’s fantastic to see the All-Ireland Poc Fada Finals return this year in what is always an exciting day in the Camogie calendar. I am particularly enthused to see such a star-studded field taking part on what should be a fantastic occasion at the Annaverna Mountain.”

Defending senior hurling champion Cillian Kiely puts his crown on the line against a high calibre field that includes his brother Cathal and players of the calibre of Kilkenny’s Eoin Murphy.

The Kiely’s finished in 1st and 2nd place in 2019 with Cillian finishing with one less poc than his younger sibling, Cathal.

On the Camogie side, champion Caitriona Daly from Galway defends her title against a field that includes recent All-Ireland Intermediate medal winner from Antrim Roisin McCormack.

Abbey Donnelly, from Meath continues a family tradition by following in the footsteps of her father, and grandfather who was a joint winner in 1962. All-Ireland Senior winning goalkeeper Sarah Healy from Galway and Lyndsey Condell from Carlow will also compete.

Unfortunately, due to Covid 19 restrictions that have been in place in the months leading up to the event, there will be no Under 16 competitions this year.

The M. Donnelly GAA All-Ireland Poc Fada Final proceedings will get under way at 12 noon on Annaverna Mountain, in the Cooley Range, Ravensdale, Co. Louth on Saturday, September 25th.

Safest Way to Bet on Sports Online

With online betting available, many wonder how safe it is to engage in real money wagering on sport at an online bookmaker. There are some steps you can take to make sure you have the safest experience when you bet on sports. The key is making sure you are registering at a licensed and regulated betting site that has top reviews and a positive reputation. You will even find that the best low deposit casino will offer a sportsbook where you can start wagering with just a small deposit!

Here are some other ways you can make sure you have the most secure and enjoyable betting experience when you chose to wager online.

Financial Safety

When you choose a reliable sportsbook, you also want to make sure that you can securely conduct transactions in local currencies and use trusted methods. Each sportsbook will support a variety of banking methods. To make sure you remain safe when wagering, make sure the chosen site uses state-of-the-art encryption technology.

This software is the same that is used by an online bank and will protect your personal and financial information. This helps to prevent account hacking as well as fraud, adding an extra layer of protection as you engage in real money wagering at a site.

The most secure betting sites will have SSL Certificates that use a private and public key to create a completely secure connection. Some sites will use TSL encryption. This is the same security protocol that will protect your information, and it is just as strong as SSL.

Look for Two-Step Verification

In addition to using SSL encryption, websites will also use an added security measure called a two-step verification process. When you access a site and log in, you will have to provide a password as well as a code that has been sent to a mobile device or your email. You can only access the site, and your account after this code has been entered. This is just one more way sites make sure that you are always protected when you bet at a sportsbook online.

Licensing and Regulation

Online sportsbooks are not required to be licensed to operate. In the Netherlands, you will find that online betting is a legal activity, but you should always make sure to choose a betting site that holds a license from a respected jurisdiction. The best betting sites will be licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, Malta Gaming Authority, or the Gibraltar Gaming Commission.

At this time, bettors from the Netherlands are able to access offshore sites that offer betting services. At licensed sportsbooks, you will benefit from player protection and will be assured the site operates according to local gambling laws. In 2021, changes in the Netherlands are expected as a licensing system is being put in place that will allow for more operators to provide betting services in the Netherlands, keeping profits in the country.

The new Dutch License will provide a legal way for more sportsbooks to enter the country and provide services to residents. Dutch authorities have stated that any operator that has previously targeted Dutch players will not be granted a license.

Conclusion

With hundreds of online sportsbooks operating, it will take some time to find the best sites. Each operator will provide different markets, promotions, banking options, and services. The key to staying safe is to choose a licensed site that has top-notch security measures in place. The site should protect your personal and financial information and should also have a viewable Privacy Policy, so you know exactly how your details are stored and used.

Liverpool v AC Milan – Preview, Team News, Odds, Where To Watch

Liverpool will welcome AC Milan to Anfield for their first fixture of the group stage in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

The two sides will meet in the competition for the first time in 14 years – their last meeting was the final in 2007, in which AC Milan won their seventh European Cup and got revenge on Liverpool for the loss in the final fixture of 2005’s instalment of the tournament.

Liverpool will be looking to mount a strong challenge for the continental crown and equal the Rossoneri’s haul after picking up their sixth in 2019.

The injury crisis of 2020-21 is in the past – Liverpool reached the quarter-finals without several key figures of their squad – but Liverpool will still be without several players for their opening European fixture of the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will be without Harvey Elliott, who underwent surgery for his dislocated ankle on Tuesday.

This follows the fracture-dislocation to the left ankle he sustained during last weekend’s victory over Leeds United.

Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino were both absent at Elland Road on Sunday as they recover from previous issues but no other injury or fitness concerns were raised by Klopp in Tuesday’s press conference.

Furthermore, Minamino was pictured training with the squad at Kirkby on Liverpool’s social media accounts on Tuesday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and on-loan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko are unavailable for the visitors after they named a 21-man travelling squad for the fixture, with both players absent due to injury.

Lineups

Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent, Matip, Gomez, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Keita; Jota, Origi, Salah.

Subs: Adrian, Kelleher, Van Dijk, Konate, Thiago, Milner, Mané, Tsimikas, Phillips, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Minamino.

AC Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo H.; Bennacer, Kessie; Saelemakers, Diaz, Leao; Rebic.

Subs: Tatarusanu, Ballo-Touré, Tonali, Giroud, Romagnoli, Kalulu, Florenzi, Maldini, Gabbia, Jungdal.

Odds

Liverpool 2/5

Draw 15/4

AC Milan 11/2

Where To Watch

Liverpool v AC Milan will be available to watch on Virgin Media and BT Sport 2 with kick-off set for 8 pm.

Manchester City v RB Leipzig – Preview, Lineups, Odds, Where To Watch

Manchester City will welcome RB Leipzig to the Etihad Stadium for the first time in their history on Wednesday, September 15 in the first of six UEFA Champions League group stage fixtures for the English champions.

The side will play their first fixture in the competition since the 1-0 loss to Chelsea in last season’s final in Lisbon.

The reigning English champions will look to go one step further in the competition and finally win the trophy that has eluded them since the City Football Group took over the club in 2008.

The Cityzens have won three on the bounce since their opening day loss to Tottenham Hotspur and head into their first European tie of the season in good form.

City will look to carry that from over and get their campaign for a European Cup off to a positive start.

Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is fit for the club while left-back Benjamin Mendy is currently suspended as he is subject to a police investigation.

£100m signing Jack Grealish will be expected to fill De Bruyne’s boots and be the playmaker for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Manchester team, who are without a recognised striker in their squad, will have plenty of talent in attack to call upon.

Gabriel Jesus, Ferran Torres and Raheem Sterling are among the options the side can choose from.

Their opponents in the Group A clash, RB Leipzig, are coming into the fixture off the back of a strong defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Defenders Marcel Halstenburg and Marcelo Saracchi are the only two players ruled out for the side through injury.

New signings Ilaix Moriba and Andre Silva are set to feature in the competition with the side for the first time.

Lineups

Man City (4-3-3): Ederson; Cancelo, Dias (C), Ake, Zinchenko; Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Grealish, Torres, Mahrez.

Subs: Carson, Slicker, Walker, Sterling, Gundogan, Jesus, Fernandinho, Foden, Palmer, Lavia.

RB Leipzig (4-2-3-1): Gulacsi; Mukiele, Klostermann, Orban, Angelino; Laimer, Adams; Olmo, Forsberg, Nkunku; Silva.

Subs: Martinez, Simakan, Haidara, Poulsen, Szoboszlai, Brobbey, Moriba, Gvardiol, Henrichs, Kampl.

Odds

Man City 2/7

Draw 9/2

RB Leipzig 17/2

Munster Rugby have confirmed the signing of former Melbourne Rebels hooker Declan Moore who also qualifies for Ireland

The Reds have signed the 24-year-old for the 2021/2022 season in hopes of bulking up their squad.

The hooker was born in New Zealand but lived most of his life in Australia. He first made a name for himself while he was playing for Sydney University Rugby Club.

He signed for Melbourne Rebels in 2020 but failed to make an appearance in any competition for them. He will now compete with Niall Scannell, Kevin O’Byrne, and Diarmuid Barron for the number two shirt in Thomond Park.

The young forward can also qualify for Ireland but will need to prove himself before being handed the green shirt.

Munster are now preparing for their first competitive game of the season against Cell C Sharks. The game will kick off on Saturday, 25th September at home in Limerick for the United Rugby Championship.

The club has very few injury concerns to deal with as Ian Costello has almost a full squad to pick from. Chris Farrell is undergoing rehabilitation for an abdominal injury while RG Snyman and John Hodnett are both following modified training programs and progressing well.

Conor Murray and Tadgh Beirne have now rejoined the squad after taking a break due to being on the British and Irish Lions duty.

Fans are optimistic as they hope that this will be a prosperous year for them with a very talented squad.
