Ireland to play Portugal and Serbia in 2022 World Cup Qualifiers

Portugal and Serbia await Ireland

Stephen Kenny’s Ireland team will face Portugal and Serbia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The Boys in Green suffered a heavy defeat last time they played Portugal, losing 5-1 back in 2014. Whilst their last competitive fixtures both ended all square in the lead up to the 2002 World Cup.

As a consequence of Ireland’s poor recent form, they found themselves in pot three for the draw meaning they will also face Serbia. Since 2008, Ireland and Serbia have gone head to head five times, resulting in three draws and two wins for the Serbians. Similar to Ireland, Serbia suffered their own EURO 2020 qualifying heartache after losing to Scotland on penalties in the play-off final.

Luxembourg and Azerbaijan make up the remainder of Group A. It will be the first time Ireland have ever played Azerbaijan, and it will have been over 30 years since they have faced Luxembourg.

Qualifying Format

The ten group winners will automatically qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. An additional three spots are up for grabs, with each runner-up along with the two highest-ranked teams from the UEFA Nations League set to contest in a play-off format for the last available places.

The qualifiers commence at the end of March 2021 with three opening fixtures scheduled. You can find the full World Cup 2022 qualifying draw below.

Group A: Portugal, Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, Azerbaijan.

Group B: Spain, Sweden, Greece, Georgia, Kosovo.

Group C: Italy, Switzerland, Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, Lithuania.

Group E: Belgium, Wales, Czech Republic, Belarus, Estonia.

Group F: Denmark, Austria, Scotland, Israel, Faroe Islands, Moldova.

Group G: Holland, Turkey, Norway, Montenegro, Latvia, Gibraltar.

Group H: Croatia, Slovakia, Russia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta.

Wins for Richard Howley and Denis Lynch in Spain and Germany

Richard Howley and Denis Lynch achieved wins in Spain and Germany respectively on Sunday.

From a list of 83 starters, 10 made it into the jump-off. At the end, Howley had almost two seconds to spare over British runner-up John Whitaker with Unick du Francport. Howley had also taken victory in Friday’s World Ranking class in Oliva with Chinook.

Denis Lynch and GC Chopin’s Bushi win in Germany

At Riesenbeck in Germany, Denis Lynch and GC Chopin’s Bushi took an impressive win in the feature 1m55 speed competition.

Lynch had almost a second and a half to spare over German runner-up Maurice Tebbel with Don Diarado. Another German, Christian Kukuk, finished third with Quintino. Clare’s Eoin McMahon was also in the prizes and finished eighth with Chacon 2.

Cathal Daniels is runner-up in Portugal

In Eventing, Cathal Daniels and The Irish Sport Horse Shannondale Mari finished in runner-up spot in the CCI3*L at the Portugal Winter tour in Barroca d’Alva.

The pair finished on their Dressage score of 34.2 just 0.6 of a penalty behind the French winner Regis Prud Hon with Bennix de Bory.

Ireland’s Brian Kuehnle took fifth place with Tullybards Now Or Never on a score of 37.5.

Dundalk defeat Shamrock Rovers to win FAI Cup final

The match finished 4-2 after extra time.

The Aviva Stadium was the venue this evening as Shamrock Rovers took on Dundalk in the FAI Cup final. Both teams also contested last year’s final, with Shamrock Rovers winning on penalties that time around. There was to be no change in fortunes this year as Rovers retained their title.

The match itself was an edgy, but entertaining affair. Both teams defended well for large periods of the first half, limiting the opposition to half chances.

The second half was a different story, however. Both teams appeared more open leading to a succession of chances for both teams.

Rovers drew first blood with a goal in the 49th minute. Aaron Greene struck for the Tallaght side after being played in by a Lee Grace header. Gary Rogers did his very best to close down the striker but his efforts didn’t pay off as Greene headed comfortably into the net.

Despite Rover’s second half domination, Dundalk managed to equalize in the 68th minute. David McMillan controlled a cross into the box before finishing low off the post and into the back of the net.

In another surprise twist, Dundalk were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute. Liam Scales was the culprit as he was deemed to have held his man unfairly in the box. David McMillan stepped up to take the penalty and he made no mistake as he finished low into the bottom right corner.

Shamrock Rovers’ scored the equalizer in the 73rd minute to end a frantic few minutes of football. Roberto Lopes thumped a header into the left-hand corner from a Jack Byrne corner. A cup final goal was a fitting end to Lopes’ year. The Cape Verde international has had a fantastic season, leading to a nomination for PFAI Player of the Year.

Both teams attacked with intent thereafter but neither could find the equalizer in regular time. 90 minutes finished with the sides level on 2-2.

After a handful of chances for both teams, Dundalk scored the first goal in extra time. The goal came in the 110th minute and through an unlikely source. Seán Hoare was the goalscorer after the ball fell to his feet from a free kick. He dispatched coolly into the corner to put his side in the lead.

It was all but over for Shamrock Rovers in the 116th minute as David McMillan got his hat trick goal to make it 4-2. McMillan deservedly picked up man of the match in an outstanding striker’s performance.

David McMillan’s goal would prove to be the last. The match finished 4-2 to Dundalk after extra time. Tonight’s victory marks Filippo Giovagnoli’s first taste of silverware as Dundalk manager.

Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals – Preview, Fantasy advice & Prediction

We have a must-win clash in the tightest (proper) division in the NFL. No Cowboys fans, the NFC East doesn’t count!

The Los Angeles Rams take their 7-4 record on the road to Glendale, Arizona to take on the Cardinals. Just 3 games separate all 4 teams in this division and every win is vital. Kliff Kingsbury needs to rejuvenate his usually high-powered offense which has stuttered as of late, resulting in the Cards dropping 3 of their last 4 games. That would have been all 4 had it not been for that last gasp Hail Mary against Buffalo. The Rams form has also been patchy and they’re coming off a heartbreaking loss to NFC West rivals San Francisco. So it’s all to play for and this one might just come down to who has the mental toughness to keep themselves alive in the Playoffs race.

Betpat Betting:
Money line: Rams 4/6 Cardinals 6/5
Points Spread: Rams -3
Over/Under: 48.5

Robert Woods is 5/1 for 100 Yds receiving and 1+ TD. Not too shabby. If you want something more adventurous, you can get 22/1 on Darrell Henderson to score a TD in each half!

Fantasy Football Outlook:
Los Angeles Rams:
The Rams strength is usually their defense. They’re 2nd in the league in yards allowed per game and 4th in Points allowed per game. Aaron Donald is a one-man wrecking crew and Jalen Ramsey will tell you he’s the best corner in football. And it’s hard to argue with him.
Offensively, it’s a mixed bag and very hard to predict. I feel this team is littered with “could do’s” and no real “will do’s”. The committee style RB approach leaves no front runner.
On the outside, Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Tyler Higbee can all make plays but you don’t want to be hanging your hat on any of them on any given week. Woods, to his credit, may be the best WR in the league that nobody ever mentions.
Jared Goff sums this offense up in a nutshell. Ranked 17th. Bang slap in the middle of the road. Some days really good, some really bad. You never know what you will get out of them.

Arizona Cardinals:
The Cardinals offense has talent to burn. At this stage, there shouldn’t be anyone who isn’t familiar with Kyler Murray and De’Andre Hopkins. Kenyan Drake looks like he has now fully recovered from the injury problems he was having so this is still a very potent offense. Andy Isabella continues in the absence of Larry Fitzgerald, but he will have to start adding to his 2 TD’s on the season before he could be considered a reliable option. I think Christian Kirk could be the guy to pick up for this game, if you’re lucky enough to be in one of the 17% of leagues he’s still available. With Hopkins going to be shadowed by Ramsey all day, Kirk may get his time to really shine.

My Prediction:
Where do you start in predicting this game. You have the (usually) explosive offense of the Cardinals vs the (usually) miserly LA defense. You have D-Hop vs Ramsey renewing their old rivalry from their AFC South days which, as far as games within a game go, is a mouth-watering prospect. You have the dominant Aaron Donald looking to make life Hell for the lightning rod that is Kyler Murray. Put all that in a bowl, sprinkle in some Kenyan Drake, Cooper Kupp, Christian Kirk, Robert Woods, and we got ourselves a humdinger. This is a toss up for me, and my coin came up Arizona.

Cleveland Browns @ Tennessee Titans – Preview, Fantasy advice and Prediction

The 6:00 pm game this Sunday pits two 8-3 side against each other as the Tennessee Titans host the Cleveland Browns.

The titans have managed to squeeze themselves in ahead of the Indianapolis Colts at the summit of the AFC South and won’t be in any mood to give up the advantage they worked to hard to fashion out for themselves. Meanwhile, the Browns have been quietly going about their business (remarkable in itself considering the level of outspokenness amongst their roster), and while they are struggling to keep pace with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the have a 2-game lead over the highly fancied Baltimore Ravens in 2nd and are very much in the thick of the Playoffs race. A win over the Titans in this game would really signal the arrival of the Browns as a team to be taken seriously.

Betpat Betting:
Money line: Browns 9/5 Titans 9/20
Points Spread: Titans -5
Over/Under: 53.5

All fairly standard but Austin Hooper is 13/5 to score a TD at any time. Book it Dano!!

Fantasy Football Outlook:
Cleveland Browns:
Along with the Minnesota Vikings, these are probably 2 of the 3 most Running Back-orientated teams in the NFL. The Browns have a duo of Running Backs that would make any defense nervous, particularly the uber-talented Nick Chubb. Surprisingly, Chubbs return from injury hasn’t had a catastrophic effect on Kareem Hunt’s workload either, although he has blown hot and cold as the season has progressed. He has only lodged 1 TD on the ground since week 4, although he has also added 2 receiving td’s in that time. I expect Chubb to be the workhorse for this game with Hunt seeing a limited opportunity to contribute.

The Browns have a very pedestrian passing game that needs to add killer instinct. That’s not to say they don’t have solid options, Jarvis Landry has one of the best pair of hands in the NFL, although he hasn’t been able to translate that into red zone production. His TD last week against Jacksonville was his 1st of the 2020 campaign so taper your expectations.
Another guy who scored in that win was Tight End Austin Hooper and if the Browns look to pass the ball anywhere near the goalline, he would be the obvious threat. I’d be known as the stubborn type, and flat out refuse to believe ‘The Hoop’ won’t put a couple of teams to the sword before this season is over. But him and Mayfield need to push it into next gear soon.
Someone interesting to keep an eye on for Dynasty owners is Donovan Peoples-Jones. A lot of people felt he fell way too far in the draft and was one of the steals of the whole thing. So far, he hasn’t lived up to that hype, but a suspect Titans pass defense could be the opportunity he has been waiting for to make an impact.

Tennessee Titans:
The Titans have been regulars on Sky Sports this season so my thoughts on them aren’t much of a secret at this stage. We all know Derrick Henry is an absolute beast, AJ Brown can light anyone up on his day and Ryan Tannehill provides the steady, if unspectacular, glue that holds it all together. An interesting piece of trivia: Corey Davis has only caught 2 Touchdowns in 2020, but both of them have been against AFC North opposition. So, you’re saying there’s a chance?!
The big injury news is that Tight End Jonnu Smith misses out with a knee problem. Bad news for fantasy owners of Smith, who has been a top tier fantasy Tight End this year. How the Titans will replace him is uncertain. Anthony Firkser is the next one on the depth chart. Firkser is another one of the ex-basketball breed of Tight Ends that is all the trend right now but, at 6’2”, he doesn’t have the size you would typically want. MyCole Pruitt and Geoff Swaim are the other 2 options and there could be a pretty even share amongst the 3. If I were to take a gamble on any of these, I’d pick Pruitt.

My Prediction:
Nothing says it’s 2020 more than the Cleveland Browns having an 8-3 record. If they don’t go 9-3, that division is as good as over, if it isn’t already. And I reckon the Steelers can think about popping the first corks in their AFC North Title celebrations because I’m taking Mike Vrabel’s men to get the job done here. It won’t be easy and both offensive lines will be under massive stress to provide clean pockets and clear running lanes. But these Titans are battle hardened at this stage and look to be getting over a mid-season slump of sorts and are back on track.

How to bet on football matches

Has it ever crossed your mind that you can make a reliable income from gambling, just like the professional gamblers do? Besides choosing a reputable sportsbook, you can always leverage expert skills when wagering to increase your winning chances.

Nevertheless, playing at a site with 24/7 customer care support can make all the difference, especially in live betting. You may want to report hanging deposits or network outage in your region. It would be best to consider other factors when choosing a betting site, including payment methods, licensing and regulation, juice, and market variety. It is crucial to note that having multiple market options increases your chances of winning as your choices are diversified.

So, how do you go about football betting? What are some of the secrets that successful gamblers in history never want you to know? Well, continue reading to find out more information.

Go for bonuses

If you’re a newbie, going for sites with numerous bonuses sounds like an excellent plan to help build a reliable bankroll. You can check various betting sites for the Best Casino Bonus Offers on Top Casinos for 2020. Special bonuses that you should watch out for include welcome bonuses, no-deposit bonuses, deposit bonuses, and even loyalty bonuses. A no-deposit bonus is the best of all as you can wager on risky but profitable bets without spending out of your pocket. If you win, you’ll just have kicked off your betting expedition with no initial costs. Loyalty bonuses are often awarded to players who bet on more games and win big. In most cases, they’ll be a percentage of your winnings.

Handicapping

Handicapping is the easiest and less risky bet that you can place. As the name suggests, this type of bet allows you to award goals to a specific team before the match begins. For instance, if there is a match between Crystal Palace and Manchester United, you can handicap Newcastle such that the game starts when they are a goal or two ahead. That means that if the match ends in a nil-nil or 2-2 draw, you’ll still win as Newcastle will always be ahead. You can also handicap the opponent team to increase your pick’s odds if they are likely to win by scoring more goals.

Moneyline

A Moneyline is s straight bet on the team that you expect to win. Moneyline odds vary accordingly with regards to the team value and chances of winning the match. For instance, you can place a Moneyline bet on Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle. Depending on your pick, the team must win by at least one goal for the bet to payout. Moneyline bets are the easiest to win if you do extensive research. Some of the things to look out for when picking teams for Moneyline include previous matches statistics, lineup, referee of the day, and any possible injuries in the squad that would affect performance.

Multibet

Lastly, you can also go with a Multibet or parlay if you want to combine odds and win big. The other advantage of Multibet is that it attracts huge bonuses, mostly a certain percentage of the total winnings. In Multibet, you combine different markets from varying matches under one betting slip. Multibet is ideal for players who rely on minimal bankrolls to win big.

Football is one of the most popular games globally, and the matches to wager on using the above markets are overwhelming. Just be patient and trust your instincts, and you’ll never go wrong about betting.

Manchester United move into top four with comeback win over West Ham

Goals from Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford ensured victory.

Manchester United looked to put their midweek disappointment aside this evening with a victory against West Ham. They done exactly that; however it wasn’t as straightforward as they would have wished. They ran out 3-1 winners on a night that could have ended very different.

Manchester United move up to 4th in the Premier League table, having been in 10th up until the 65th minute. West Ham, on the other hand, slip down to 7th.

West Ham opened the scoring through Tomáš Souček in the 38th minute. The Czech Republic international turned poacher as he tapped in from a Declan Rice header. In truth, it was no more than they deserved having dominated much of the first half.

Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes could do nothing but watch from the bench in the first half. The Portuguese midfielder suffered a foot injury prior to the match, meaning he wasn’t in suitable condition to start the match.

He did, however, come on in place of Donny van de Beek for the second half with his side trailing 1-0. Edinson Cavani also made way for Marcus Rashford. The aging striker was unable to have the same affect as he did last weekend, leading to his substitution.

Paul Pogba failed to get going in the first half, leading to criticism on social media. He answered his critics in the 65th minute with an accurate strike from well outside the box. The goal was Pogba’s first of the Premier League season in what has been a largely disappointing one for the Frenchman so far.

They completed their comeback just minutes later. This time it was Mason Greenwood who got in on the action. Alex Telles crossed the ball into Greenwood’s feet who took a touch away from the defender before finishing coolly into the bottom corner.

They completed their rout in the 78th minute as Marcus Rashford chipped past Fabianski after receiving a through ball from Juan Mata. He missed a golden opportunity to make it 3-1 just minutes earlier but he made no mistake this time around.

The match finished 3-1 to United after a superb comeback which showed character that had been missing for large periods of the match. The scoreline was perhaps harsh on West Ham, having completely dominated the first half.

All eyes will now be on United’s Champions League fixture against Leipzig on Tuesday. A win for the Red Devils in that fixture would ensure qualification for the knockout stages.

Mayo vs Tipperary: Preview, TV Channel, Betting, Prediction

Quite remarkably, this year’s four All-Ireland semi-finalists is a repeat of the 1920 Championship’s. In the same way, that year Mayo and Tipperary played in the semi-final. The Munster men won 1-5 to 1-0 on that day before beating Dublin in the final. Now, Mayo vs Tipperary will again determine who gets a shot at All-Ireland glory a century on.

In the last decade, Mayo competed in four All-Ireland finals and lost all four. Furthermore, they lost another four semi-finals. As a result, this Mayo team have become one of the best teams to never win an All-Ireland.

Are Mayo Finally ‘Back’?

This year, James Horan has found a blend of youthful injection to bolster the experience of his tried and tested. Youngsters Oisin Mullin, Eoghan McLoughlin, Tommy Conroy, Mark Moran, Bryan Walsh and Ryan O’Donoghue have all played their part in winning Nestor Cup against Galway three weeks ago.

These additions have brought out the best in the veterans also. David Clarke, Lee Keegan, Chris Barrett, Kevin McLoughlin, Aidan O’Shea and Cillian O’Connor are all in inspired form. Meanhile the likes of Colm Boyle, Tom Parsons and Keith Higgins still wait in the wings. Elsewhere, Stephen Coen, Paddy Durcan, Matthew Ruane, Conor Loftus and Diarmuid O’Connor are coming of age to bridge the gap nicely.

All of this has resulted in a successful equation for Horan. Wins over Leitrim, Roscommon and Galway propelled them to the top of Connacht for the first time in five years.

Mayo had just a point to spare after an attritional Connacht final against Galway. They could have made it more comfortable for themselves however if they had been more efficient in front of goal in the opening half. They converted just 8 out of 17 chances, a statistic that Horan will be aiming to rectify sooner rather than later.

On the other hand, he will take pleasure in the composure his team showed when the game was in the melting pot. For example, Bryan Walsh came off the bench to score two vital points. Equally as important, Eoghan McLoughlin took a clever black card when Sean Kelly was charging towards goal in the dying moments.

Mayo will be delighted about Kerry’s failure to progress out of Munster. However, Horan would be wise not to underestimate Tipperary. If they navigate this game correctly, they’ll have another chance at ending the Mayo curse.

 Tipp-ing the Scales

When Tipperary beat Cork in the Munster Final a fortnight ago, the Munster Cup crossed Tipperary borders for the first time since 1935.

To make it even sweeter, the Premier men had to earn the cup. Firstly, they had just a goal to spare over Clare. Then, they were on the brink of elimination against Limerick. To illustrate, Tipperary were a point down in the Gaelic Grounds with the clock in the red. Then, Conor Sweeney produced a moment of magic to send it to extra-time. Sweeney nonchalantly equalised from a dead-ball on the sideline with the outside of his left foot. For added measure, the ball went over off the post. Extra-time was a low-scoring affair. In the end, a Brian Fox point separated the teams.

Somewhat surprisingly, Tipperary’s largest win in Munster was in the final. They had a three-point margin over Cork at the end of the final to finish a super performance. Taking inspiration from their commemorative Bloody Sunday jerseys, Tipp scored three in the first three minutes.

Conor Sweeney and Michael Quinlivan led from the front with all of their attributes on display. But, Steven O’Brien, Liam Casey, and Colin O’Riordan were the unheralded heroes in the middle of the field as they went toe-to-toe with Cork. Tipperary had a deserving four-point lead at the halfway stage.

The second-half had its tentative and nervy moments but the Premier held firm. The closest the Rebels came to catching Tipperary was within a point but the ever-reliable Philip Austin soon quenched that possibility.

Semi-Final Take 2

Now, Tipperary face Mayo in a repeat of the 2016 Semi-Final. Many of the Tipperary players who take to the field on Sunday were members of the famous 2011 minor campaign. Similarly, nine of the players who started against Mayo four years ago will be in the squad come Sunday. Hence, these Tipperary players are no strangers to a big occasion and the timely addition of Colin O’Riordan is an added boost.

Mayo will no doubt be the toughest test Tipperary face yet. But, they have the tools to challenge the Connacht men and David Power will be focusing on how to free up his key men.

The game is live on Sunday on RTÉ and Sky Sports Mix.

Mayo are the favourites with Paddy Power at 2/7. Meanwhile, Tipperary are 4/1 and a draw is 9/1.

Prediction: Mayo. But Tipperary will make them earn it. The Connacht side have always proved competitive when they reach Croke Park and the vast pitch will only benefit their pacey players. Furthermore, Mayo took the long route through Connacht and in recent years more games have made them stronger.

SFC Semi-Final: Mayo vs Tipperary, Sunday, December 6th, 15:30 (Croke Park).
