Fulham vs Arsenal Preview, Predicted Teams, Where to watch

Fulham vs Arsenal is the opening fixture of the new Premier League season.

Kicking-off at 12:30 on Saturday, Mikel Arteta’s team travel to newly-promoted Fulham. Scott Parker steered the south London club back to the top flight after just one season in the Championship.

Fulham defeated Brentford in extra-time of the promotion play-off. In the meantime, Parker has strengthened his team in the transfer window. Most recently, goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has joined from PSG on a season-long loan.

Last season, Sheffield United proved it was possible for teams to do more than just survive in their first season in the Premier League. Parker will be hoping to replicate their success this season. A good start will go a long way.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s revolution at Arsenal continues. Despite finishing 8th, Arsenal qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup. In addition, Arsenal got this season off on a good foot by winning the Community Shield against Liverpool.

New signings William Saliba and Willian could make debuts in Craven Cottage. On the other hand, defender Gabriel has just begun full training. Also, Dani Ceballos is back for another season-long loan. He could go straight into the team.

Perhaps the most interesting selection in the Arsenal team is the goalkeeper. Bernd Leno missed most of the restart with injury. In spite of this, Emiliano Martinez made a huge impression. His presence between the sticks makes him more than just a deputy to Leno.

Fulham hope to kick-off their Premier League campaign with a flourish. However, the Gunners must finally challenge for the Champions League again. Therefore, this game will likely bring the best out in them.

Predicted Line-ups.

Fulham: Areola, Christie, Hector, Ream, Bryan, Cavaleiro, Reed, Knockaert, Cairney, Lemina, Mitrovic (4-2-3-1)

Arsenal: Leno, Saliba, Holding, Tierney, Bellerin, Ceballos, Xhaka, Maitland-Niles, Pepe, Lacazette, Aubameyang (3-4-3)

Betting: Fulham 5/1, Draw 10/3, Arsenal 1/2

Halftime/Fulltime: Draw/Arsenal 16/5 (Paddy Power)

Five must see football and hurling club streams this weekend

Here are five must-see club streams this weekend. Four in football and one in hurling.

Saturday, September 12th

Galway Senior Football Championship quarter-final.

Corafin are a modern-day club football machine. The All-Ireland champions play a breath-taking brand of attacking football. Their opponents the last won the Holy Grail in Galway in 2013. They also notably won an All-Ireland back in 2004. Corofin are operating at a different level though. They have won the last three All-Ireland Club titles. However, Salthill-Knocknacarra are no mugs and consequently, these fierce rivals could well serve up a classic.

2:30 pm: Salthill-Knocknacarra v Corofin – Streaming details on GalwayGAA.ie

Tipperary Senior Football Championship semi-final.

Loughmore Castleiney are trying to keep their double dreams alive. They face a real test against the 2018 Tipperary SFC champions. Will ten weeks of non-stop action hinder their prospects? Together with hurling, there are 14 players who are lining out for both teams. Moyle Rovers are one of the aristocrats of Premier County football. Declan Brown was a club and inter-county legend. They supply a large chunk of the Tipperary Senior panel. A very close encounter is expected here.

4:30 pm: Loughmore-Castleiney v Moyle Rovers – Streaming details all official Tipperary GAA platforms

Clare Senior Hurling Championship semi-final

Any game with Davy Fitzgerald on the sideline is sure to provide fireworks. Éire Óg Inis are the surprise packet of the championship so far. The Clare Senior B Hurling Championship of 2014 are on the rise again. They have a proud history winning the Clare Senior Hurling Championship on 15 occasions. Can they emulate the class of 1941? Sixmilebridge will be warm favorites to advance or can the Éire Óg Inis fairytale continue?

5 pm: Éire Óg Inis vs Sixmilebridge – Streaming on Clare GAA TV.

Kerry Senior Football Championship semi-final

Dr, Crokes are the last non-divisional side still standing in the Kingdom. With seven titles in the decade, Crokes are the dominant force in Kerry football. Mid-Kerry last won the title 12 years ago and will be anxious to bridge that gap. Have ‘Crokes’ been showing signs of mileage of late? They will be anxious to atone for last season poor showing however, and another possible crack at East Kerry.

7 pm: Dr. Crokes vs Mid Kerry – Streaming details on KerryGAA.ie.

Sunday, September 13

Armagh Senior Football Championship final.

Crossmaglen needs little introduction here. The six-time All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship winners are bidding for a 46th Armagh title. Standing in their way are Maghery. They won their first Armagh Senior title in 2016. Can they derail the Crossmaglen juggernaut? Ordinarily, you would expect the ‘Cross’ to prevail here. The  Loughshore Club however are highly regarded in the Orchard County. The Aidan Forker powered Maghery are capable of pulling off an upset.

4 pm: Maghery v Crossmaglen – Streaming on Armagh TV.

New NFL season kicks off Friday morning at 1.10am Irish time

The NFL returns this week and ‘Kickoff Weekend’ signals the start of a 256-game journey that promises hope for each of the league’s 32 teams as they set their sights on Super Bowl LV, which will be played on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The 101st season of NFL play kicks off early on Friday morning as the Super Bowl champions Kansas Chiefs host the Houston Texans at 1.10am Irish time at Arrowhead Stadium in a rematch of the 2019 AFC Divisional Playoffs. The game will be live on both Sky Sports NFL and Sky Sports Main Event.

Last year’s statistics

Last year, teams combined to score 1,244 offensive touchdowns (rushing and passing touchdowns combined), the second-most in a single season in NFL history, and 1,332 total touchdowns, the third-highest total in a single season in league annals. Additionally, 68 percent of games (174 of 256) were within one score (eight points) in the fourth quarter last season, tied for the fifth-most such games in a single season in NFL history, while 52.3 percent of games (134 of 256) were decided by eight-or-fewer points, the fifth-most such games in a single season.

Last year, a wave of young stars burst onto the scene, especially at the quarterback position. The 2019 season saw 208 games feature at least one starting quarterback under the age of 27, the most in a single season in NFL history. In total, quarterbacks under the age of 27 started 287 games and recorded 144 wins in those starts last season, both the highest single-season totals since 1970.

Three quarterbacks under the age of 25 – Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson (2018 NFL Draft), Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes (2017 NFL Draft) and Houston’s Deshaun Watson (2017 NFL Draft) – have led their respective teams to division titles in each of the past two seasons.

New 14-team playoff format

New in 2020, the NFL adopted a 14-team playoff format, with two additional Wild Card teams – one each in the American and National Football Conferences – qualifying for the postseason.

Since 1990, when the NFL adopted the 12-team playoff format, at least four teams every season have qualified for the playoffs after failing to make the postseason the year before. Last season, five teams that missed the postseason in 2018 – Buffalo (10-6), Green Bay (13-3), Minnesota (10-6), San Francisco (13-3) and Tennessee (9-7) – qualified for the playoffs.

Both Green Bay (NFC North) and San Francisco (NFC West) won their divisions last year after missing the postseason in 2018 and at least two teams have won their divisions the season after missing the playoffs in 16 of the past 17 years.

In 15 of the past 17 seasons, at least one team finished in first place in its division the season after finishing in last or tied for last place. In fact, of the 48 teams in league history to go from “worst-to-first,” 25 of them have done so in the past 17 years (2003-19), including an NFL-record three such teams in 2005 and 2006. Two teams during that span, the 2009 New Orleans Saints and the 2017 Philadelphia Eagles, won the Super Bowl after finishing in last place in their divisions the season before.

Can the Chiefs win Super Bowl in 2021?

Fresh from their first Super Bowl in 50 years, the Chiefs begin their quest to repeat as champions. Only eight teams have repeated as champions since the first Super Bowl in 1967, with the 2004 Patriots (Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX) being the last team to accomplish the feat. They will hope for a good run in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.

Records that could be broken this season

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees (77,416 passing yards and 547 touchdown passes) enters the 2020 season as the league’s all-time leader in both categories, while Tampa Bay’s Tom Brady (74,571 passing yards and 541 touchdown passes) ranks second. Brady (283 regular-season starts) can surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre (298) for the most starts by a quarterback in NFL history.

Indianapolis quarterback Philip Rivers (59,271 passing yards and 397 touchdown passes) can surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Marino (61,361 passing yards and 420 touchdown passes) for fifth in each all-time category, while Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers (46,946 passing yards) can become the 11th player in league annals with 50,000 career passing yards.

New York Jets running back Frank Gore (15,347 rushing yards and 19,243 scrimmage yards) can become the third player in NFL history with 16,000 career rushing yards and fourth player with 20,000 career scrimmage yards, while Detroit running back Adrian Peterson (14,216 rushing yards) can surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer Barry Sanders (15,269 rushing yards) for fourth-most in league annals. Peterson (111 rushing touchdowns) can become the fourth player in NFL history with 120 career rushing touchdowns.

Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald enters 2020 ranked second all-time in receptions (1,378) and receiving yards (17,083). Fitzgerald (120 touchdown receptions) can surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison (128) for the fifth-most touchdown receptions in NFL history, while Las Vegas tight end Jason Witten (1,215 receptions) can become the fourth player in league annals with 1,300 career receptions.
Head Coaches

Five teams enter the 2020 season with a new head coach – Joe Judge with the New York Giants, Mike McCarthy with Dallas, Matt Rhule with Carolina, ron Rivera with Washington and Kevin Stefanski with Cleveland.

Five rookie head coaches have led their teams to the playoffs over the past three seasons: Matt Lafleur (Green Bay) in 2019, Matt Nagy (Chicago) and Frank Reich (Indianapolis) in 2018, and Seán McVay (L.A. Rams) and Seán McDermott (Buffalo) in 2017.
Players on the move

Several notable players were on the move during the offseason, including quarterbacks Tom Brady (Tampa Bay) and Philip Rivers (Indianapolis); running backs Melvin Gordon (Denver) and Todd Gurley (Atlanta); wide receivers Stefon Diggs (Buffalo) and Deandre Hopkins (Arizona); tight ends Austin Hooper (Cleveland) and Jason Witten (Las Vegas); offensive linemen Brian Bulaga (L.A. Chargers), Jack Conklin (Cleveland) and Russell Okung (Carolina); defensive end Calais Campbell (Baltimore); defensive tackles Deforest Buckner (Indianapolis) and Jurrell Casey (Denver); linebackers Cory Littleton (Las Vegas) and Kyle Van Noy (Miami); cornerbacks Byron Jones (Miami) and Darius Slay (Philadelphia); and safeties Jamal Adams (Seattle) and Malcolm Jenkins (New Orleans).

Sky Sports has a new dedicated NFL channel.

This season’s new stars

Last season, four rookies – San Francisco’s Nick Bosa, Jacksonville’s Josh Allen, Kansas City’s Mecole Hardman and New Orleans’ Deonte Harris – earned Pro Bowl honours in their first season. Who could accomplish the feat this season?

Four quarterbacks – LSU’s Joe Burrow (No. 1 overall, Cincinnati), Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa (No. 5, Miami), Oregon’s Justin Herbert (No. 6, L.A. Chargers) and Utah State’s Jordan Love (No. 26, Green Bay) – were selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. At least one rookie quarterback has started in Week 1 in 12 consecutive seasons, the longest streak in the NFL since at least 1950.

100 International Goals for Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo or Messi? The age-old debate that every football fan has found themselves entwined in at one stage or another.

Whilst Lionel Messi has been grabbing the headlines for the wrong reasons as of late, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first ever European footballer to hit the 100 International goals mark as his side Portugal overcame Sweden in a convincing 2-0 victory.

It was never going to be a tap-in either for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner as he curled a superb free kick into the top corner. In the second half he bagged his second to bring his total to 101 goals. Just over 16 years ago, Ronaldo netted his first goal for his country at the EURO 2004 competition where they would go on to lose the final to Greece in of the tournament’s biggest ever upsets.

However, Ronaldo would lead his team to victory in the same competition 12 years later as Portugal clinched the EURO 2016 trophy.

PELE COMMENTS

Brazilian icon and the country’s top scorer, Pele, was quick to congratulate Cristiano Ronaldo on twitter on this momentous occasion.

Pele made it known recently that he stands on the Ronaldo side of the fence in the aforementioned Messi-Ronaldo debate, stating that Ronaldo is the most consistent with his performances.

Not only is Ronaldo consistent, but he is also determined to be the greatest. When interviewed after the win over Sweden, there was only one thing on his mind. Iranian Ali Daei and his world record number of International goals which stands at 109. A mere nine goals away from beating that record, there is no stopping Ronaldo now.

American Football – 2020 NFL Season Divisional Preview

American Football – 2020 NFL Season Divisional Preview – The 2020 NFL Season kicks off this week with 32 teams battling it out to get their hands on the Vince Lombardi Trophy in February’s SuperBowl in Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the crazy off-season, never fear. I’m here to give you my take and predictions on the Divisional battles in both the AFC and NFC.

AFC:

NORTH:

The Baltimore Ravens are the heavy favourites to stay top of the AFC North and with good reason. Lamar Jackson’s game breaking ability is off the charts and he’s surrounded by a very competent supporting cast.

While the Ravens are favourites, they won’t have it all their own way. The Cleveland Browns have one of the most talented rosters in the entire league. Rookie Head Coach Kevin Stefanski has been given the task of getting all that talent on the same page which, given some of the personalities in that locker room, is far from a formality. But if they get it right, they can be a match for anyone.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are also looking to be a factor. Big Ben returns from injury and their success hinges on his ability to stay on the field. He should have enough weapons at his disposal on offense and they had one of the more dynamic defences in the league last year.
The Cincinnati Bengals will most likely be focusing on developing young talent than making a run at the division title here.

Traditionally one of the most physical and intense divisions in the league, the smart money will be on the Ravens to claim the top spot again, but I believe Cleveland are in with a great shout to pull off a shock.

SOUTH:

The AFC North may have a clear favourite, but the battle in the South doesn’t. Even the most optimistic of Jaguars fans will give them any shot of being in contention and the rumours of “Tanking” are already surfacing, but there is a 3 way shootout predicted otherwise.
The Titans, Colts, and Texans all carry a lot of talent but also bring some question marks.
Houston did get Deshaun Watson tied down to a new contract, but I have major concerns about how much an effect the trading away of DeAndre Hopkins will have. They may have to hit the ground running or Bill O’Brien could be in danger of losing that locker room.
Tennessee made a lot of waves on their way to the AFC Championship game in 2019 but they won’t be coming out of seemingly anywhere this season. Teams will be ready for them. Can Ryan Tannehill replicate the excellent play we saw from him after he replaced Marcus Mariota? His success may be inextricably linked to Derrick Henry establishing that fearsome run game.
Indianapolis are armed with a new quarterback as they continue life after Andrew Luck. Philip Rivers has had a fantastic career but at 38 years old, how empty is the tank?  Can rookie Michael Pittman or Parris Campbell offer TY Hilton the reliable running buddy he has long been needing?

My gut feeling is telling me Houston take a big step back. Bringing in Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb strike me as panic moves to be honest. That leaves Tennessee and Indy to fight it out. I think that goes right down to the wire; I give a slight edge to the Titans.

EAST:

The landscape of the AFC East has changed. For the bones of 2 decades no preseason prediction was done without the New England Patriot as shoe-ins for division winners. Now they’re just one of the pack. Cam Newton has been earning rave reviews in training camp but has a big job on his hands to help revive a dormant offense. And now the probably don’t have a top tier defense to pick up the slack after free agency and Covid opt outs.
That opens the door for the Buffalo Bills to make a run at winning the division for the first time since 1995. The Bills offense will only go as far as Josh Allen will take them, but they went out an got a legit go-to receiver in Stephon Diggs to help him.
Miami are also looking to get themselves in the hunt after a busy off season. After Ryan Fitzmagic finished last season as the leading rusher in 2019, it was no surprise to see 2 veteran Running Backs acquired along with a bevy of defensive reinforcements. But the big name on everyone’s lips among Dolphins fans is new Quarterback Tua. His injury issues will mean we will likely to see little, if any, of him this season so Fitz is still the man for now.
The last team involved here are the New York Jets who have had another rocky summer. They should struggle to make an impact as Adam Gase continues to sabotage his own cause.

I see the Bills as the front runners for this division, and if it clicks with Josh Allen this year, they could be legit contenders for a deep playoff run. It may be a season too early to expect the Dolphins to mount a serious challenge leaving the Pats to take the runner up spot with the Jets just struggling to keep pace.

WEST:

No shock as to who the heavy favourites are for the AFC West. While Patrick Mahomes can trot out and throw a ball, that division could be as much of a formality as the East was during the Brady era, and that’s not a knock on the other 3 teams. Mahomes himself is good enough but when he has the weapons around him that he has, it’s ridiculous.
The race for second could be very interesting, however. The Las Vegas Raiders have retooled at wide receiver adding Bryan Edwards and Alabama home run hitter Henry Ruggs. If last year’s stand out Josh Jacobs can carry his good for over into year 2, this is a dangerous offense.
If the Raiders are a dangerous offense, the Los Angeles Chargers can be considered a dangerous defense. Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram provide a terrifying pass rush combination and Linval Joseph arrives from Minnesota to sure up the middle. Derwin James being ruled out for the season is a big blow, however.
Speaking of terrifying pass rush duos, the Denver Broncos have one of their own in Von Miller and the fit again Bradley Chubb. And the offense looks loaded too after adding savvy route runner Jerry Jeudy and the lightning quick KJ Hamler to compliment Courtland Sutton and Noah Fant. If John Elway has finally found his Quarterback in Drew Lock, the Broncos are an emerging powerhouse.

Barring a Mahomes injury, I can’t see past the Chiefs winning out here. I’m all aboard the Broncos hype train and believe they have the potential to make some noise. The Chargers and Raiders will be competitive, but I think they come up short.

NFC:

NORTH:

The NFC North will be very competitive again in 2020. The Packers decision to draft a quarterback instead of arming the one they have with more weapons left everyone stunned. But I don’t see anything to suggest they will take a significant step back this year.
The Minnesota Vikings did add some excellent talent to their ranks but most of them will only serve to replace the players they lost and it remains to be seen if they’ve done enough to overtake the Packers at the top of the division.
The Detroit Lions will welcome back a fit-again Matthew Stafford and they will need him to be at the top of his game to stay relevant.
And the Chicago Bears will need to find some inspiration on offense if they are to be a factor. Matt Nagy will be feeling the heat this year.

I think it’s as you were in this division, with the Packers maintaining the edge over the Vikings at the top. The Lions and Bears will make life tough.

SOUTH:

Down South, the New Orleans Saints have usually had it their own way in recent years. Drew Brees is back for another run at a SuperBowl and they will surely be in the mix.
But the big talking point is what is going on in Tampa Bay. After winning the Tom Brady pools, the Buccs wasted no time in surrounding him with a huge array of talent. If Brady has anything left in the tank the Buccaneers should be ready to go toe to toe with New Orleans.
The Atlanta Falcons flattered to deceive again in 2019 and pressure may be mounting on Head Coach Dan Quinn. Can they show any signs of being the team that went to the SuperBowl4 seasons ago?
Carolina starts a new era after moving on from Ron Rivera and Matt Rhule has a big job on his hands to get them back into contention. In all honesty, this looks like a rebuilding year for the Panthers.

The big question here is just how good can we expect the Buccaneers to be? We know the Saints are legit and that the Falcons and Carolina are probably going to be well off the pace. I expect the Buccaneers to push New Orleans all the way, but I still have the Saint coming out on top.

EAST:

It’s more than likely going to be a 2-horse race in the East. While Dallas and Philadelphia renew their rivalry the Giants and Washington will take up their usual spots as also-rans by the looks of it. The injury issues are already picking up where they left off for the Eagles, who limped home in front of the Cowboys last year but if they can get any luck staying healthy would be favourites to stay top again in 2020.
The Cowboys will be relying on Mike McCarthy providing the energy and spark they lacked all too often last year under Jason Garrett. There is plenty of talent throughout this team, but I have questions regarding their resilience.
Washington will be looking to establish a new culture after another offseason of turmoil. Hiring Ron Rivera was a good start.
And the Giants probably just lack the firepower to get themselves in the mix but could show a marked improvement on recent poor seasons.

I have the Eagles winning the division again purely because of their ability to deal with adversity which they have shown time and time again.

WEST:

Our last division left to look at maybe the best. I am expecting an all-out war in the NFC West. San Francisco will look to put their SuperBowl disappointment behind them and go one step further this year. There was no major surgery done, or needed, in the offseason, and no reason to suggest they won’t be a factor in the playoffs again.
The Seahawks will be a force again this year. The trade for Safety Jamal Adams from the Jets could have swung the pendulum in their favor.
The Los Angeles Rams will be looking to put a disappointing 2019 season behind them. The big question for them is finding a way to make up for the loss of Todd Gurley who was a talisman for the 2018 SuperBowl run.
And the Arizona Cardinals are garnering a lot of hype, especially since getting DeAndre Hopkins from Houston. It got eve better for them in the draft when talented linebacker Isaiah Simmons fell into their laps.

I’m really excited for this division. Whoever makes it out of here will no doubt be well battle tested for the playoffs. I think the Seahawks may have stolen an edge on San Fran and, like the Broncos earlier, the Cardinals could be gearing up for a breakout year. The Rams are very capable of keeping pace too.

Who Makes the Playoffs?

In the AFC I have Buffalo, Kansas City, Tennessee, and Cleveland in an upset as my division winners. The Broncos, Colts, and Ravens are my wildcard picks.

The NFC shapes up with the Seahawks, Packers, Eagles, and Saints winning their respective divisions. The Vikings, 49ers, and Buccaneers make up the wildcard places narrowly squeezing out the Cowboys and Cardinals.

All in all, we seem to be set for a very interesting season, one which I can’t wait to get started!

Liverpool vs Leeds Preview, Predicted Teams, Where to watch, Betting

Liverpool begin their title defence at home to Leeds on Saturday evening.

Klopp led the Merseysiders to their first Premier League title in style last season. Ultimately, they finished 18 points ahead of second-placed Man City. He’ll hope to be able to repeat the trick but Leeds will be up for this one.

After a 16 year absence, Leeds are back in the top flight. Marco Bielsa cemented his legacy by finally winning promotion. Thankfully, recent years have shown that a good finish is possible for newly promoted teams. For example, Wolves and Sheffield United both managed top-half finishes in their first season.

The arrival of Rodrigo is a sign of good intentions. The striker will bring a danger with him that Leeds are going to need. Bielsa will not be content with promotion though. Instead, we can expect Leeds to take the game to teams. It’ll be baptism by fire for Leeds in Anfield.

Can Liverpool go Back-to-Back?

In the last decade, only one team managed to retain their title. Man City did it in 2018/19 but it took 98 points. It’s entirely possible that Liverpool could replicate this but they can’t afford to let up. Other teams have strengthened in the offseason. Chelsea and Man United have bolstered their squads through transfers. Elsewhere, Arsenal will be fuelled by their Community Shield win last week.

Man City have been active in the transfer market too. Their defence was highlighted as a weak point last season. As a result, Guardiola has brought in Prem-proven Nathan Aké. In addition, rumours that Napoli’s Koulibaly is a target should be taken seriously.

in contrast, Liverpool have been quiet in the market so far. Konstantinos Tsimikas has come in to backup Andy Robertson. On the other hand, Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana have gone elsewhere. With a packed fixture list, Klopp will need a full squad. Youngsters such as Rhian Brewster, Neco Williams, Harvey Elliott, and Curtis Jones will are good offerings to have. However, over the course of a season, experience will come in handy. If they do manage to land Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich, it will be a huge boost.

Predicted Teams:

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Djik, Robertson, Fabinho, Milner, Keita, Salah, Firmino, Mané

Leeds: Meslier, Dallas, Ayling, Cooper, Douglas, Kalvin-Phillips, Costa, Klich, Hernandez, Harrison, Bamford

Liverpool vs Leeds, Saturday 17:30 (Anfield). Live on Sky Sports.

Betting: Liverpool 1/4, Draw 5/1, Leeds 8/1.

Half Time/Full Time: Draw/Liverpool 3/1. (Paddy Power)

Tottenham vs Everton Preview, Predicted Teams, Where to Watch, Betting

Tottenham Hotspur host Everton in their Premier League opener this Sunday.

Everton have been busy in the transfer window recently. Fans will be hoping to see new signings James Rodriguez and Allan as soon as possible.

Rodriguez reunites with Carlo Ancelotti once again. The Colombian signed from Real Madrid for £22 million. Likewise, midfielder Allan has worked with Ancelotti before. The two became familiar with each other while at Napoli.

In goal, Jordan Pickford hopes to rediscover his form from 2018. In addition, if the partnership of Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin can click the Toffees will be a threat at both ends of the pitch. Fans will have high expectations from their team this year.

In the same way, Tottenham have bolstered their squad. Matt Doherty and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been recruited by Mourinho. These experienced Premier League players will sure up the Spurs’ ship.

Harry Kane will be fresh off international duty and ready to hit the ground running. Meanwhile, Hugo Lloris is back between the sticks after recovering from injury.

Tottenham pushed for the top four last season but ultimately came up short. Finishing in sixth, they have to improve to keep up with the teams around them. Players such as Dele Alli and Lo Celso will need to come of age this season.

West Brom v Leicester: Preview, Predicted Teams, Where to watch, Betting

Leicester City kick off their league season with a trip to newly-promoted West Brom.

Brendan Rogers will be frustrated at his sides’ poor finish to last season. As a result, they finished just outside the Champion’s League spots.

In contrast, the Baggies finished strongly to secure second place in the Championship. After a two-year absence, they return to the top flight. Slaven Bilic’s Premier League experience will be a valuable asset. Previously, he was West Ham’s manager between 2015 and 2017.

Rogers has been relatively inactive in the transfer window so far. Ben Chilwell is the major name to leave the club. He joined Chelsea for a reported £50 million. Nonetheless, Rogers recruited Timothy Castagne from Atalanta to fill the void.

Meanwhile, West Brom have poached midfielder Grady Diangana from West Ham. He joins new signings Matheus Pereira, Cedric Kipre, and David Button.

Leicester are favourites to take all three points here. With Europa League football in their schedule this year, it’s important for the Foxes to start the season well. In addition, rapid turnarounds between games will take a toll over the course of a season. Thankfully, Jamie Vardy is getting better with age. Now 33, Vardy won the Golden Boot last season with 23 goals.

Predicted Line-ups

West Brom: Johnstone, O’Shea, Ajayi, Bartley, Gibbs, Livermore, Sawyers, Grosicki, Pereira, Diangana, Austin (4-2-3-1)

Leicester: Schmeichal, Justin, Morgan, Soyuncu, Albrighton, Ndidi, Tielemans, Castagne, Perez, Vardy, Barnes (3-4-3)

Betting: West Brom 11/4, Draw 5/2, Leicester, 10/11 (Paddy Power)

Cork Club Hurling Championship Quarter – Final’s Preview

The race for the Cork Club Hurling Championship is hotting up. With Patrick Horgan and Glen Rovers waiting in the last four – who will join them in the race for the Seán Óg Murphy Cup? There is a feast of Cork SHC action down on Leeside this weekend.

SEPT 12th Sarsfields v Erin’s Own PÁIRC UÍ CHAOIMH 7.30

Erin’s Own have lived on the edge thus far. They were sluggish against Blackrock. To their credit, they rallied impressively and almost got something out of the game. They then needed a last gasp goal to edge Newtownshandrum. Robbie O’Flynn is a class act and they will need him firing here.

Sarsfield’s eased into the last eight when steamrolling Ballyhea 2-30 to, 1-15. Liam Healy, Jack O’Connor, and James Sweeney have all been hugely impressive. With wins over Midelton and Douglas, they have been the form team so far. They will fancy their chances against a misfiring Erin’s Own.

SUNDAY SEPT 13 Douglas v Blackrock PÁIRC UÍ CHAOIMH 2 PM

Douglas had a real dog-fight with Middelton before emerging as one-point winners. Shane Kingston finished with 0-10 to his credit and added seven of these from frees. Alan Cadogan was at his imperious best in the first half. Brian Turnbull then took up the slack, as Middelton could not conjure up the draw they needed to advance.

Blackrock were impressive in topping their group. They had nine points to spare over Bishopstown in their last group fixture. The 2017 Cork County finalists may not have the big-name stars of their opponents, but they are a formidable unit. Alan Connolly and Tadhg Deasy have been flying. They accounted for Erin’s Own by four points in an impressive opening championship salvo. If they can limit the influence of Cadogan and Kingston, they could well progress here.

SUNDAY SEPT 13 UCC v Na Piarsaigh  SHC PÁIRC UÍ RINN 7 PM

Na Piarsaigh have stellar performers in Evan Sheehan, Shane Forde, and Christopher Joyce. They will want to forget their last group encounter, however.  Patrick Horgan and Co inflicted a 15 point hammering on the Northside club.

Could UCC bridge a 50-year gap to their last Cork club hurling title. They eliminated champions Imokilly in the last round. The conundrum as ever is player availability. In some cases, a player might line out with his club on a Sunday afternoon, and subsequently, don the UCC colors on Sunday night. It is hardly ideal but that is the nature of UCC. If they get the likes of Shane Conway and Mark Coleman on the pitch, they could well prevail here.
