Heineken Champions Cup Rugby 2019/20 finals postponed

The EPCR Board has reconfirmed the suspension of this season’s Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup tournaments and has furthermore decided to postpone the semi-final matches, as well as the 2020 Marseille finals, which were due to be played on the weekends of 1/2/3 May and 22/23 May respectively.

In making the decision, the Board is abiding by the official directives and recommendations of the relevant authorities in its territories to restrict the COVID-19 pandemic.

In light of the earlier postponement of its quarter-final matches and with fixtures in Europe’s professional league competitions currently suspended due to the public health crisis, EPCR believes it necessary to provide as much clarity as possible to all stakeholders regarding the knockout stages of its tournaments.

To that end, EPCR is working with the leagues and unions to restructure a conclusion to its season as part of a wider rescheduling of the remainder of the season in Europe, with all contingencies underpinned by the requirement to protect the health and welfare of players, club staff, match officials, supporters and the wider rugby community.

EPCR remains committed to completing the 2019/20 Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup season, and it is planned to reschedule the quarter-final and semi-final matches, as well as the Marseille finals, in line with fixtures in the professional league competitions, subject to advice from government and local authorities.

Tickets already purchased for the Marseille finals will be valid for the new dates when announced, and from that point, fans who are unable to attend on the new dates will be entitled to a refund.

EPCR would like to thank Olympique de Marseille, the staff at the Orange Vélodrome and altl local and regional partners for their continuing collaboration, and an update regarding the knockout stages of the Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup will be communicated as soon as practicable.

Tohill and McKenna return home from the AFL

The coronavirus is causing problems all over the world and in Australia it also meant calling a halt to the AFL season. This means though that several Irish players will be returning home.

According to RTE Sport the clubs and players have all agreed to take a 50% pay cut for both April and May. This of course to protect the clubs from going under in a financial crisis. Conor McKenna a former underage star is currently playing with Essendon. Essendon returned home earlier this year. He sighted homesickness for the return but he flown back to Australia a week or two later. Speaking to the AFL.com website McKenna made the decision to return to Ireland today. The website also reported that several other Irish players are also on their way back to Ireland following the Covid 19 outbreak.

Mark Keane of the Collingwood club also known as the Magpies is also returning home. Anton Tohill of Derry is also returning home. Conor Glass is also reported to be returning home to Derry. Furthermore, looking at the Women’s AFL League Dublin duo Sinead McGoldrick and Niamh McEvoy are reportedly on their way back to Ireland due to the pandemic.

It is likely the AFL will not resume till June at the earliest. The West Australia reported this.

The Greatness of Galileo by Paul Rhodes

With the announcement last week that all Irish horse racing is behind closed doors for the foreseeable future, followed by confirmation that all racing in Britain is cancelled until at least the end of April, horse racing fans may be missing their visit to the track, or their daily fix of numerous meetings live on Racing TV and Sky Sports Racing. In order to fill this ‘spare’ time many fans may now have, and in preparation for the forthcoming flat season, a suggestion would be to read the excellent book ‘The Greatness of Galileo’ by Paul Rhodes, which shows the influence of the mighty Galileo on thoroughbred racing.

Whether you are a big horse racing fan or not, anyone with even just a cursory knowledge of flat racing has heard of Galileo. Say his name to those involved in the ‘Sport of Kings’ and its mention is greeted with reverence and honour. This is because Galileo is no ordinary racehorse, he is the ultimate sire of thoroughbreds, the most famous and sought-after stallion on planet earth. His story comes to life in an excellent publication ‘The Greatness of Galileo’, by Paul Rhodes (with Anne Alston), founder and tireless administrator of the Aidan O’Brien Fan Site.

Rhodes, from Rosegreen near Cashel in Co. Tipperary, lives in Ballydoyle and Coolmore country. The author has a passion for all things Aidan O’Brien, Ballydoyle and Coolmore-related and remembers with clarity the beginnings of the O’Brien era of success with winners such as Giant’s Causeway and Rock of Gibraltar. Despite having followed the career of Galileo the racehorse closely, Rhodes freely admits to almost being obsessed with Galileo the stallion, following the sire’s phenomenal success over the last number of years.

The Greatness Of Galileo by Paul Rhodes is a book every sports fan should read as it shows the incredible influence of one horse, Galileo, on horse racing.

Rhodes’ first effort at telling the incredible story of Galileo, ‘The Greatness Of Galileo’, was released in the first quarter of 2018 on the Amazon store, receiving 5 star feedback. This 2019 version, however, has been completely updated, with some new content added to the book.

The detailed publication shows the love, respect and absolute obsession of the author with this special thoroughbred, detailing from the moment Galileo was born, covering his successful racing career on the track, as well as highlighting his amazing stud career which has seen him overtake his own sire Sadler’s Wells as flat racing’s ultimate stallion, and detailing his own progeny which includes Frankel.

This beautiful publication is divided into the six parts, with the first detailing Galileo’s birth and early life. A highly comprehensive account of the horses track career covers his racing life from the Irish Business Maiden Stakes for 2 Year Olds, through his dual Derby successes as a three-year-old, and concludes with his participation in the Breeders’ Cup Classic in the USA.

The sire’s stud career covers a total of 13 well-researched and details chapters. Each one shows Galileo’s progression and increased success as a stallion, providing information about his progeny at the sales, as well as enlightening readers about his own sons who are now successful and acclaimed stallions in their own right. The latter chapters of this section of the book are fascinating by their showing the amount of prize money won by his sons and daughters, as well as informing the reader about his progeny’s awards.

Towards the end of the book, Rhodes the researcher and statistician comes clearly into view with profile pages of Galileo’s 75 Group 1 winners, yes 75 Group 1 winners. The author ends by looking into his crystal ball, and mentions some potential Group 1 winners for the star stallion this year.

Flat racing is the source from which all future champions are bred. Horses by Galileo continue to dominate the sport in an exceptional way. ‘The Greatness Of Galileo’ explains just why.

‘The Greatness Of Galileo’ is available in digital format on the Amazon Kindle store while Amazon has paperback copies for purchase.

How to Make a Sports Game Highlight Video

In today’s world, athletes at every level face strict competition. This becomes more and more apparent as athletes inch closer to the college application process when many begin vying for elite athletic scholarship opportunities

Of course, when comparing the number of high school athletes against the number of college scholarships available for their sport, the opportunities are few and far between. Many of the athletes that apply for scholarships will be turned down. Paperwriter offers students paper writer service that inform you more on the subject.

If you know how to make a highlight video, it can improve the chances of getting noticed by college coaching and recruiting staff. Getting noticed can help players who are hoping to obtain a scholarship stand out against the competition, increasing the overall odds that they will nab their dream scholarship package on signing day.

If you’re an athlete with big dreams for your future, read on to learn how to make a highlight video that puts you in the winner’s circle!

How to Make a Highlight Video that Gets You Noticed

First, you should know that not all highlight videos are created equal. Many of the videos submitted to colleges by student-athletes and their parents are difficult to watch, at best. But, knowing a few pro tips can help you create a highlight video that will place you in the lead for big-time college scholarship opportunities.

If you’re an amateur videographer, no worries. Even an amateur can pull off a 5-star highlight video if they know the right steps to take.

Here’s how to get started creating your very own hit highlight sports reel.

  1. Run Tape of Sports Performances

It’s impossible to make a highlight video without video footage. That’s why you should make sure that all of your major athletic performances are taped.

Since every one of your performances is not guaranteed to be highlight-reel-worthy, you’ll want to give yourself plenty of video footage to choose from. The only way to do that is to make sure someone is taping your events and that they are focusing on you, specifically, a substantial amount of the time that they are shooting.

Also, when choosing a videographer, you should keep a few things in mind. There’s no need to pay a lot of money to hire a professional, although you might consider this option. But, an amateur is fine as long as they are willing to follow a few simple guidelines.

First, they need to be dependable so that you can count on them to show up and do “their job”. Secondly, they need to have a steady hand so that the video doesn’t turn out to be complete rubbish. Third, they need to be able to perform basic video functions, like zooming in, zooming out, and so on.

If your team subscribes to a sports video website that allows team member uploading, such as Hudl, you can also pull from these videos when you create your personalized highlight video. However, it’s not ideal to rely solely on team-uploaded videos, as they may not include sufficient coverage of individual players for your highlight reel.

  1. There’s an App for That

Today, there’s an app for practically everything. And, if you know how to make use of the right ones, you can easily construct a professional-grade highlight video in no time.

The iTunes app is one of the most popular apps for streaming music. And, today, it’s becoming one of the most common choices for uploading video as well. Another advantage of using iTunes for video uploading is that it makes it easy to merge music and video together for a potentially more-powerful and emotionally-charged highlight reel.

If you aren’t familiar with how to add movies to iTunes, the process is quite simple and can be done in just minutes once you get the hang of it. Setapp includes detailed instructions for encoding, adding metadata, and uploading your video. The Setapp website also offers helpful recommendations of additional apps specially created to make it easier to construct your own pro video.

  1. Tips for Editing

Once you’ve decided on the most flattering video clips, cut, and uploaded them so that the entire video culmination doesn’t exceed five minutes, then you’re ready to edit. If your video doesn’t add up to equal a full five minutes, don’t worry. Most coaches and recruiters will only watch the first couple of minutes of the video, anyway.

Because you’ve relied on apps, editing is usually made much simpler. Many of today’s apps include editing features that are easy-to-use and will guide you through the final touches seamlessly.

Colleges aren’t expecting expert highlight videos, so yours need not be perfect prior to submission. But, you should still follow a few basic rules when performing your final edits.

First, review your entire video to make sure that each clip transitions easily to the next. Hopefully, you’ve already chosen the best video clips to feature first, but if not, now is the time to make any rearrangements that might be necessary.

Second, eliminate any video that is fuzzy, shaky, or otherwise poor-quality. Like most people, a collegiate staff probably isn’t interested in watching a video featuring blank spaces or ground-shots. In fact, each clip should be quick and concise and easily transition to the next.

Some players choose to add music to their highlight reel, although if you choose this option, be mindful of music choices that cater to a universal audience.

It’s also rather easy to include simple edits that showcase individual players, such as flames or circles. Feel free to incorporate these types of edits if you choose. However, it may be a good idea to also incorporate footage that doesn’t include these features as well.

Once you’re happy with the overall video, and it’s clear that the viewers will know which player they are watching, you can consider it mail-ready.

  1. Don’t Limit Your Choices

Now that your video is ready for its final send-off, don’t cut yourself short by limiting your choices to one or two college picks. Few athletes will receive a scholarship based on sports, but even fewer will receive a full scholarship to one to the very best-performing schools.

Make a list of five or ten schools, at a minimum, and send in your tape early in the admissions process to give yourself the best chance of receiving an offer.

Tokyo Olympics looks set to be postponed

The IOC will begin talks regarding the potential postponement of the the Tokyo Olympics this summer. The International Olympic Council held an emergency meeting on Sunday where they said they will step up on scenario planning for the games.

RTE Sport report that they will hold further meetings and discussions which will involve the option of delaying the Olympics from it’s original start date of July 24th. They did however state a complete cancelling of the worldwide event will not solve any problems or help anyone. In a statement they said, “Therefore, cancellation is not on the agenda,”. They went on state that these talks will be over the next month and a decision will be taken then.

They said they will engage in scenario planning in the talks. The statement said, “These scenarios relate to modifying existing operational plans for the Games to go ahead on 24 July 2020, and also for changes to the start date of the Games”. Thomas Bach who is the President of the IOC addressed athletes also. He said, “I think I can feel with those among you who consider the situation to be unsatisfactory,”. Furthermore, he said that a statement on the postponement of the Olympics today could not determine a new date. He said, “A decision about a postponement today could not determine a new date for the Olympic Games because of the uncertain developments in both directions: an improvement… in a number of countries… or a deteriorating situation in other countries.”

Covid 19 is quickly spreading across Europe. Things are going from bad to worse especially in Italy, France and Germany, with England not far behind. People obviously need to be sticking to social distancing. Of course if things start to gradually get better which they will in time then the games will go ahead. But as of now there is no chance of the games going ahead in my opinion.

The English Premier League: The Top Scorers

The English Premier League, or also referred to as the Premier League, is the most popular English football league system in the whole world. This is contested and participated by 20 clubs and operates according to a system of relegation and promotion with the EFL. The gaming seasons for this run from August to May, with each participating team to play 38 matches each.

With over 28 years of gameplay, the league and the audiences have witnessed extraordinary matches in which some players even achieved their best scores. With that in mind, listed below are some of the greatest scorers in the said league of all time.

Alan Shearer

Alan Shearer is a retired footballer who was known to be the Premier League’s record scorer. In 1994 he was also named as the Football Writer’s Association Player of the Year and has even won the Player of the Year for the PFA during 1995. He was also set as an inspiration for an avatar in some sports gaming sites like w88.

During his career, Shearer has scored a total of 283 goals including the 260 goals in the Premier League and has joined a total of 422 football competitions of all levels. In total, Shearer has set a 0.667 ratio of goals-to-game throughout his entire career.

He is also a versatile player because he had played as a forward and attacking midfielder in various games in his career. Andy Cole

The third goalscorer in the league, Andy Cole has scored a total of 187 goals. He is a former professional football player who played as a striker from 1988 to 2008. He has the distinction to be one of the few players in England to be awarded by all possible honors like the UEFA Champions League title and the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Conclusion

English Premier League was founded last 1992 after following the decisions of the clubs joining the Football League First Division; these people aim to break away from the Football League that was created last 1888 and create an advantage on the lucrative deal on the television rights. Because of this, the Premier League was broadcasted in over 212 territories within 643 million homes and has 4.7 audiences, making it the most-watched sports league all over the world. The league’s popularity has inspired today’s sports sites like w88 to spread awareness of the game and, at the same time, give more knowledge about the sport, football.
