Ranieri set to become new Watford boss

Former Chelsea and Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has been named the forerunner to become the next Watford manager

The Hornets have shocked many Premier League fans by becoming the first club to part ways with their manager. After seven matches, the team was sitting in 14th place with seven points.

They managed to beat Aston Villa and fellow promoted club Norwich so far.  The Watford board has now done what they have become famous for, they have said goodbye to manager Xisco.

The 41-year-old Spaniard was the 15th manager appointed by the club in the last ten years. He helped the club get promoted to the top-flight last season but after only one year at the club, he has now been sacked.

What seemed to be the final straw for the board was their 1-0 loss away from home to Leeds United. The board has claimed that there is a ‘negative trend’ in the team and they were hoping there would be more cohesion at this stage of the season.

Can the Tinkerman work his magic in Watford?

Now, reports claim that Premier League-winning manager Claudio Ranieri will become the new boss. Sky Sports have reported that he is the favorite to take the job and is expected to complete the move this week.

This will be the Tinkerman’s first spell in England since his unsuccessful time with Fulham in 2019. After 17 matches, they had only claimed three wins before losing the job.

He was most recently in charge at Sampdoria but left his position at the end of last season.

Some betting outlets have started promoting the odds for Watford to now win the league. This is after Ranieri’s famous 5000/1 title win with Leicester City in 2016.

The Hornets will want to complete this move soon so that the manager can set up his side for a tough upcoming fixture list.

After the international break, Watford will take on Liverpool, Everton, Southampton, Arsenal, Manchester United, Leicester City, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

This will be a very tough ask for the Italian manager but if they can pick up some points in those matches then the club will be in a good position to stay up this year.

Salah stars as Liverpool draw with champions City on Merseyside

Mohamed Salah was the star of the show on Sunday as Liverpool and Manchester City played out a 2-2 draw that will live long in the memory of fans.

The visitors were the dominant party in the first half but Liverpool went down the tunnel unscathed after 45 minutes and came out of it a different side.

They played with more confidence and did not allow City to bully them as much as they did in the first half – Liverpool only managed a shot in the eighth minute before the second half.

Mo Salah was at the centre of everything good for Jurgen Klopp’s side as his presence on the right flank caused many problems for a City defence that had only allowed six shots on target in the league before this game.

His movement was a problem and Diogo Jota and Sadio Mané worked well with this, the latter confidently finishing the opener after the Egyptian fashioned the chance for him.

It was a classic Liverpool counter-attack in which Salah and Mané rolled back the years to open the scoring for the Reds.

However, the midfield and the selection of James Milner at right-back continued to let Liverpool down as chances kept leaking – eventually, a goal was conceded.

Yet, Salah continued to cause trouble against City’s left side and conjured up a moment of brilliance similar to does he has done before.

Curtis Jones was awarded the assist for Salah’s goal but it was the Egyptian that made the chance for himself.

He received the ball several yards from the edge of the City box and escaped a three-man press before entering the box, staring down centre-back Aymeric Laporte.

He opened a space for himself to move beyond Laporte with an eye for a shot and fired one past Ederson to the delight of the 40,000 Liverpool fans in attendance.

It was a move he has done several times before – against Tottenham in 2018 and Napoli in the season Liverpool brought home the Champions League trophy for the first time in 14 years.

Yet, that’s what made it so special.

Regardless of De Bruyne’s equaliser and the final result, the goal will go into the pantheon of unforgettable moments that Mo Salah has produced in a Liverpool shirt, which will undoubtedly see many more enter it.

Nine players set for Ireland U19 debut against Sweden

Republic of Ireland Men’s Under-19 Head Coach Tom Mohan has selected 23 players for a friendly double-header against Sweden in Marbella, including nine players that are in line to earn their first international caps with the side.

John Joe Patrick Finn Benoa, Aidemo Emakhu, Cristiano Fitzgerald, Oisin Gallagher, Cian Hayes, Johnny Kenny, Jevon Mills, Josh Seary and Harry Vaughan are all set to don the green for the first time.

Mohan will take his squad to the south of Spain as he prepares for the UEFA Under-19 European Qualifiers in Bulgaria next month – Bulgaria, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro are all in Ireland’s group.

Speaking about the almost two-year wait to return to action, Mohan said: “We’re really looking forward to the return to matches.

“The squad we’ve selected is a culmination of hard work from our MU19s staff and FAI scouts in Ireland and the UK who have covered numerous games. It has allowed us to monitor and assess a large group of players during assessment days and training camps in Ireland and England prior to selecting the squad for these friendly games against Sweden.

“It’s so good to finally have clarity that games can go ahead. We’re delighted to have a squad together again after preparing for such a long time and no doubt Sweden will be a tough opponent. They are a strong well organised side with quality attacking Players which will provide a test for us and that’s what we want.

“I’m sure there will be a good edge to the games as Players will be fighting for places for the European qualifiers.”

Released in 2020, this is a fresh sport themed online slot with 88 paylines and a variety of betting combinations that finally lead to the win of 3200x the stake. The title prides itself for contemporary graphics, appealing return to the player percentage, and adjustable lines that allow high volatility. You can also read reviews of casinos on IrishCasinorius, which accept a minimum deposit of 1 Euro, opening doors for newbies who’d like to earn some decent cash.

There is a challenging 5×5 grid as a home to RollingReels and their consecutive winners along with a pack of other benefits. Symbols of footballers can appear as a random event that will trigger Striking Wilds and convert an entire reel into wilds, also granting an extra spin. Speaking of which, a set of 3 Scatters lead to 12 extra spins during which you’ll receive winning cascades that increase the Multiplier. If the sequence repeats, the end-result is 252x your stake additionally enhanced with Growing Wilds.

Scudamore’s Super Stakes

What happens when NetEnt contacts Peter Scudamore asking one of the greatest jockeys ever to start one of the most famous of their themed online slot games? You will get cutting-edge high volatility sports slots with Peter’s Classic Cup, Bet Slip, and Random Wilds spread all over a 5-reel 3-row 20 fixed pay lines-setting. Moreover, the best level is set through the Level Selector, which allows each player to define both minimum and maximum values he or she is willing to apply in each hand. One thing is for sure – to start amassing coins, you need 3 or more matchings to appear on an active line.

During the main course, players will benefit from Random Wilds that can be activated any given moment. This will grant 2 to 5 Horseshoes helping you to create a combination that pays up to 250x the highest stake. The coin value ranges from 0.01 to 1, so it can generate more than a decent pile of real money. Icons represent various jockeys and pay differently according to their rating.

When 3 Scatters appear on the reel 1 to 5, it’s time for Peter’s Classic Cup where you place bets like the real horse racing fans do. If your horse wins, the payable generates 5000x the stake. During the free games race, the playable set is extended, meaning that the horse may go a step up or down, depending on your hand’s outcome. This makes it one of the most profitable slots that deal with sports in general.

Break Away Deluxe

A sequel to the original sport online slots aimed to all hockey enthusiasts, this is Stormcraft Studio’s original sports slots online release that combines RollingReels with sport themed slots. Lucky punters can plunder a massive win of up to 560.000 coins and receive multiple winners in a single hand. All winning icons will be removed to make room for new in both main events and bonuses, which practically means a single bet can eventually lead to the jackpot. The game also relies on the Smashing Wild feature where hockey players can randomly appear to turn the realest 2, 3, or 4 into WildReels for guaranteed wins.

When 3 Scatters appear anywhere on the reels, you will enjoy a batch of 12 free spins enhanced with a few other rewarding features. Namely, there is a Multiplier Trail that increases with each consecutive win during extra rounds increasing the score up to 8x. With Growing Wilds that appear stacked, each stack grows by +1 Wilds every spin. Finally, the Scatter Pays mode grants up to 220 coins no matter what happens next.

Basketball Star

Released in 2015 and still one of the most popular sports themed slots produced by Microgaming, this is an example of action-packet sports slots set in the scenery of a high-completive all-star arena. You can claim up to 120.000 coins while wheeling and dealing on 243 paylines, where the main gaming area of this sports themed slot is a 5×3 base. The centre court offers quite a few betting options so that both newbies and seasoned gamers can come up with their own betting strategy. Frequent yet smaller winnings in your slot machine games are ensured thanks to the trademarked RollingReels feature.

This is a mobile-friendly game with the payout rate higher than the industry standard of 96% and displays fine on all other devices. Basketball fans will appreciate icons designed as their favorite players although in a bit cartoonish style. The most valuable of them are the Wilds that may substitute all paying icons and you will find no less than 40 of them throughout the course. Wilds appear in stacks bringing the WildShot mode that turns adjacent reels into WildReels. You will enjoy a free hand, while 3, 4, or 5 Scatters grant 15, 20, or 25 free spins.

FIFA World Cup Slot

The most prestigious football tournament is hosted by Dreamtech and gathers the giants of Germany, Brazil, France, and Spain along with their rivals from all continents. Naturally, past winners are symbols with a bit higher rating, and you’ll earn more than assembling a winning line with Portugal, England, Iran, or Tunisia. Together with Wilds and Scatters, such items can produce a decent score enhanced with some extra rounds.

Built on a 25-payline premise, the game stays faithful to the standard 5×3 layout and requires 3 or more matchings to get you paid. Gamers will enjoy an impressive loading screen that looks like a real match and complies with an equally stunning bonus game. Speaking of which, this is a chance for any fan to become a Golden Boot and outmatch Ronaldo or Neymar. Those who make it happen will load their bankrolls with up to 10000x the big ones.

Conclusion

The list of best slots doesn’t end here since you can try many other online casino games focused on sports fans. For example, Frankie Dettori’s Magic Seven comes with a nice jackpot and 35 free spins and is also among themed slot games to play. You can always check good casinos and see if they offer new slots based on your favorite entertainment since these days sports themed slot games are virtually on fire. Casino punters now have a great chance to combine both worlds and receive massive prizes while playing slot machines in online casinos.

Donegal GAA Senior Football Championship Round 4 Draw

The draw has been made for round four of the Donegal GAA Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Senior Championship.

The draw will see sides from Pool B play host to sides in Pool A with the provision that there will be no repeat fixtures from rounds 1-3.

All eight round four games are set to take place on the weekend of October 9 with five quarter-final spots left to grab.

Three sides have already secured their spots in the knockout stages of the competition – Gweedore and 2020 county finalists Kilcar and Naomh Conaill.

St Eunan’s, Glenswilly, St Naul’s, St Michael’s and Aodh Ruadh Ballyshannon currently occupy the final five places.

The first four sides are all on four points while the Ballyshannon club sit on three heading into this weekend’s action.

Six other clubs are in with a chance of securing a spot but Termon and Four Masters will see their championships come to an end after the conclusion of round four.

The biggest fixture in the draw sees Gweedore go up against Kilcar in a top-of-the-table clash.

Both sides have won their first three games and the match will be an early indicator of who is best equipped to go all the way this year.

It holds significance as the two sides are now not able to meet each other in the quarter-finals as no repeat fixtures are permitted.

Kilcar have had the best defence in the championship so far, allowing only 21 points across three games – an average of seven per game.

Their 2.71 points difference is also the best in the competition – Gweedore are the only other side with a points difference above two.

Other ties in the draw see Glenswilly play host to Naomh Conaill and Aodh Ruadh face Ardara in their quests to secure a spot in the knockout stages.

URC examining ‘bite’ accusation in Munster match

The United Rugby Championship citing officer will look into a bite accusation that happened to Niall Scannell during Munster’s win

Reds fans were happy at the weekend after the provincial side came back from 15 points down to win comfortably. Johann Van Graam’s side secured the bonus point in Thomond Park with a 34-18 win over DHL Stormers.

It was a happy occasion for the rugby club with South African star RG Snyman pushing through for a try. This was his first score since returning from a 13-month injury.

Although it was a majorly positive day, the celebrations were marred by an alleged moment. Munster hooker Niall Scannell has made the claim that he was bitten in the leg by a Stormers player.

This bite accusation is also backed up by the Stags’ captain Peter O’Mahony. He told the referee, Andrew Brace about the incident during the match but it could not be confirmed by the video footage.

During the game, Brace told O’Mahony: “I understand your frustrations, but there’s nothing in the footage.

“If there’s anything there, my citing officer will deal with it.”

The Munster Head Coach has said that Scannell will undergo a medical examination for safety reasons. Van Graam also said post-match that the club will look further into Scannell and O’Mahony’s claim.

“Niall reported that to Pete on the pitch, the referee had a look at it, they couldn’t see any evidence of it, but we’ll go through the right channels.”

Scannell was not seriously injured by the alleged incident and continued to play the match. The hooker also scored a try, driving home from a maul in the 50th minute.

Munster’s performance showed that they will be one of the strongest teams competing in the United Rugby Championship but they still have more areas to improve on before their next game.

They will next play Scarlets at 14:00 on Sunday 10th October in Wales.

Munster Rugby 34 DHL Stormers 18 in United Rugby Championship

At home for the second week, Munster Rugby again gained a bonus-point win over South African opposition on a 34-18 scoreline.

While last Saturday’s game was relatively comfortable for Johann van Graan’s side, tonight’s fixture was a different matter. In a first half dominated by the Stormers, it took Munster until the cusp of the half-time whistle to score.

The DHL Stormers, one of the new South African sides in the United Rugby Championship, certainly showed they were worth their place in the new dual-hemisphere competition, despite the flattering final score in favour of Munster.

The home side, which saw four changes to the starting line-up from the team that achieved a bonus point win last Saturday, could not cope with the speed and slickness of passing of their visitors, who dominated both territory and possession in the opening half the fixture.

Stormers dominate possession and territory

The DHL Stormers got no more than they deserved when opening the scoring in the 9th minute of the game. The home side had found themselves pinned into their own half by the visitors before Stormers’ fullback Warrick Gelant touched down for a five-pointer. The resultant conversion attempt was missed by Mannie Libbock, who had minutes earlier missed a penalty attempt from the Munster 10m line.

The South African outfit increased their lead towards the end of the opening quarter of the game. More slick passing from the southern hemisphere side saw winger Leolin Zas run the touchline to easily claim his side’s second try of the game. This time kicker Libbok made no doubt about the conversion; he added the extra two points to move his team into a 12-0 lead.

The aforementioned Libbok soon thought he had scored his own try when it looked as though he had successfully touched down. Though the referee initially gave the score, on review and in consultation with the TMO, the team of officials decided there hadn’t been a clear grounding.

Fullback Gelant kicked a straightforward penalty on the half-hour as the Stormers extended their advantage to 15 points.

Munster finally score

It took until the clock went into red, at the end of the first period for the home side to finally get on the scoresheet. Waterford’s Jack O’Donoghue burrowed over to touch down following a powerful Munster drive to the line. With Craig Casey taking the ball from the maul, O’Donoghue soon found himself in possession, and the Waterford native showed his customary strength as he found enough room to crash over.

Joey Carbery added the conversion to send his side in at half time eight points behind the Stormers.

Half-time: Munster Rugby 7 DHL Stormers 15

The game began to change when the sin-binning of the Stormers’ lock Salmaan Moerat gave Munster a one-man advantage. Johann van Graan’s side soon made their advantage count of the scoreboard when big South African Jean Kleyn scored the Munstermen’s second try of the night. Another easy conversion for a player of Carbery’s calibre saw the hosts reduce the deficit to just a solitary point, and they still had the extra man.

Scannell and O’Donoghue add tries

Munster were soon over for another try, with Niall Scannell the beneficiary of what was also an entire team drive for the Stormers’ line. The Corkman emerged from the bottom of the pile, having put his side into the lead for the first time in the game.

Despite Carbery’s conversion attempt swinging in late towards the posts, the number 10’s effort went slight wide of the left-hand post, from a difficult starting position on the touchline in front of the East Stand.

Jack O’Donoghue brought up his brace of tries, and the bonus point, when extending his side’s advantage before the 60th minute. Carbery, who had a very mixed night kicking for the posts, this time saw his effort come off the left-hand post, leaving his team 24-15 in front as the final quarter of the game approached.

Replacement Tim Swiel reduced the Munster lead to 6 points when kicking a penalty on 65 minutes for the Stormers when the home side failed to roll away.

The biggest cheer of the night from home crowd came when RG Syman scored Munster’s fifth try. O’Mahony won the lineout cleanly allowing the huge Springbok to bulldoze his way over, leaving many of his fellow countrymen in his wake as they tried in vain to stop the powerhouse.

Ben Healy, who along with Snyman, had come off the bench in the second half, added the extras for what earlier in the game would have seemed a very unlikely victory.

Healy added a 44m penalty kick right before the final whistle, meaning Munster ran out 34-18 winners.
