Leicester City Defender Fofana Out Until 2022

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has said that Wesley Fofana is expected to be sidelined until 2022 after being injured in a pre-season match.

The French defender fractured his right fibula after he was on the receiving end of a tackle from Villarreal attacker Fernando Nino.

The 20-year-old’s leg was caught underneath Nino’s as the tackle occurred and he went down immediately.

The Marseille-born centre-back was stretchered off the pitch and was replaced by Ben Nelson.

The injury is worse than what was originally feared, with scans showing that the defender has also suffered medial knee ligament damage.

Quoted in The Athletic, Rodgers spoke about the injury to one of his first-choice centre backs.

“He will have his operation on Monday and he won’t play again until 2022,” Rodgers said after his side’s Community Shield win over Manchester City.

“At which point [of 2022], we don’t know yet. We will assess him as he goes. It’s a shame for him and for the Premier League not to have a player like that in it.

“Unfortunately the ligament damage is quite bad. He’s in great spirits. Some players want to go back to their own country [for their rehabilitation] but he wants to stay here and be around his team-mates.

“He will be back at the training ground on Thursday after his operation and he will start his rehabilitation from there.”

The young defender joined the English side from Saint-Etienne last season for a sum of £31 million and made an immediate impact.

Fofana played 38 times for the team over the course of last season and was part of Leicester’s historic FA Cup-winning run, playing in the final.

Leicester recently won the FA Community Shield without their French centre-half in a match where poor behaviour from their fans overshadowed an otherwise brilliant day for the club.

Grealish To Be Presented To Man City Fans

Manchester City FC will present new signing Jack Grealish to their fans on Monday evening following his record-breaking arrival from Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old penned a six-year deal after joining the side for £100 million, making the English international the most expensive player from the country ever.

The move is also the priciest in British footballing history, worth £11 million more than Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United in 2016.

Grealish achieved a total of 32 goals and 43 assists in 213 appearances during his time with the Aston Villa senior side.

The signing is one of the biggest of the summer window and only pales in comparison to Romelu Lukaku’s imminent move to Chelsea when it comes to money.

The winger will be unveiled to the City faithful following his debut for the side at the weekend in the FA Community Shield defeat to Leicester City.

Grealish came off the bench at Wembley during the 1-0 loss to the 2020/21 FA Cup winners.

The boyhood Villain did not do too much during his 25-minute cameo but better judgement will be made of him as he earns substantially more minutes for Pep Guardiola’s European giants.

He played on the left wing for Pep’s team in a front three that included former Leicester man Riyad Mahrez and academy product Ben Knight.

The event will take place at the Etihad Stadium’s West Reception, beginning at 5 pm and with Jack arriving at approximately 6 pm.

The event will be hosted by City Square presenters Danny Jackson and Natalie Pike.

Leicester City Ask Ian Wright To Help Identify Abusive Fans

Leicester City FC has asked Ian Wright to help them to identify fans that were abusive towards pundits Wright and Roy Keane at Wembley on Saturday.

Both pundits were working for ITV as they covered Leicester’s FA Community Shield victory over Premier League champions Manchester City.

Kelechi Iheanacho converted a late penalty to win his side their first Commuity Shield in 50 years – the second Community Shield win in their history.

Leicester’s victory follows their first-ever FA Cup win in their first final in the competition for over 40 years

However, the 2021 Community Shield was not defined by jubilant scenes of success but rather the poor behaviour of the club’s fans.

The abuse hurled at the pair included some fans calling Cork native Keane an ‘Irish c*nt’, according to Wright.

In a video posted to his Twitter account after the game, the ex-Arsenal striker said: “Leicester fans know how much respect I’ve got for them and their owners.

“I’m constantly bigging up Leicester and what they do but I got to say, where we were today, doing the punditry from the gantry where we were, some of them Leicester fans, what they were doing, calling Roy ‘Irish C’, mouthing the words to me – they know what words they were mouthing to me.

“You let yourselves down, big time. Really disappointed [in them] on the day, on what was a fantastic day for Leicester City fans. Them fans, on front of those kids, throwing the stuff down, what they were doing – mouthing and shouting what they were shouting.

“Disgraceful behaviour, man. Leicester, you shouldn’t be acting like that. Certain fans, you don’t represent Leicester.”

Leicester responded to the video that Wright posted by replying with a message of support for the pundits.

Thank you for not letting this pass, @IanWright0. We’d welcome your help in identifying those involved so they can be held to account.

“We wholeheartedly condemn all forms of discrimination.”

Leeds United ticket news announced

Leeds United will kick off their 2021/22 season against Manchester United in Old Trafford at 12:30 on Saturday 14th August

Leeds United have announced the ticket details for their Elland Road games. They have also stated changes that will come into effect starting with Everton at home in the Premier League.

Tickets for the Category A fixture against the Toffees went on sale this morning. Following a review of the clubs ticketing policy, seats will be sold to all 2021/22 My Leeds Members.

A spokesperson for the club has said:

“The club has carried out a thorough review of the home ticketing policy ahead of the new campaign, including consultations with the Supporter Advisory Board and a benchmarking process against comparable clubs.

“Our objectives have been to ensure that access to tickets is fair to all members and to maintain our commitment to keeping football affordable whilst ensuring we remain competitive on the field in the long term.”

The club has frozen ticket prices for the tenth season and now claim to have the cheapest season tickets in the Premier League.

Children’s ticket prices in the Family Stand have also been frozen, meaning Under 11s can attend a game for £5 and Under 16s for £10.

For home matches an adult will pay up to £35 for the Family Stand, £41 for the North and South Stands and East Stand upper wings and £47 for the West Stand.

The Premier League’s £30 cap on away tickets is the reason given by many clubs as to why home tickets can be so expensive.

The ‘United for 20 Years’ scheme which was due to end 2023/24 has been extended by a year due to last season taking place almost entirely behind closed doors.

United insist match-by-match prices will still be, on average, in the cheapest 33 percent of the Premier League clubs.

Liverpool Prospect Gordon Tipped To Breakthrough This Season

Liverpool FC prospect Kaide Gordon has been tipped to break into the first team this season by The Athletic after an impressive pre-season.

The 16-year-old has earned minutes during the side’s pre-season games in mainland Europe and the United Kingdom.

The youngster joined from EFL Championship side Derby County in February for an initial fee of £1 million and mainly appeared for Liverpool’s U18 team for the second half of last season.

The English forward scored nine times across 15 games for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side in the U18 Premier League and racked up three assists to compliment that.

His attacking output was important to the side as he averaged a goal or assist every 99 minutes for them.

His strong showings at that level earned the youth prospect an upgrade before the season ended, getting minutes with the Liverpool U23’s in the Premier League 2.

Gordon’s performances made an impression on the senior coaching staff at Liverpool and he has only improved upon that with his chances in pre-season.

He remained with the squad when they moved from Austria to France and appeared for the side against Bologna.

Assistant manager Pep Lijnders talked about Kaide’s pre-season in the final instalment of his training camp diary series for the Liverpool site.

“Kaide’s first game was his highlight of this tour, the second one was even better because there were fans there. He learned his positioning to press. It’s an intensity he’d never felt. The disallowed goal was his worst moment, I’m sure.”

Lijnders noted that the 16-year-old attacker was speaking to Liverpool’s full-backs, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold at the time of writing (Pep spoke to James Carroll).

The Dutch football coach said that he was getting advice from the full-backs.

Gordon’s attitude and application, of which Pep’s words on him attest to, are something that The Athletic believes stands to him.

They see him as “quick, skilful and a creative force” that is also “fearless” on the pitch.

A big 2021/22 season could be what lies ahead for the seven-figure signing from Derby.

Arsenal close to sealing Maddison deal

With only a few days left until the start of the new 2021/22 Premier League season, Arsenal might fix their midfield problems

Arsenal have held talks with Leicester City regarding a move for creative midfielder James Maddison, according to TheAFCBell.

The Gunners have attempted many different combination of deals to persuade Leicester to sell their man but none have been good enough yet. The report has claimed that Leicester will want at least £60 million to make the move happen.

After needing an eye-watering £50 million to sign Brighton defender Ben White, Arsenal have started selling player to build up money for Maddison.

The £25 million Newcastle spent on youngster Joe Willock will help Arsenal’s transfer funds. The club has also sold a few of their youth players to lower league clubs to help make room.

This would be a surprising move for Maddison as Leicester finished three places ahead of the Gunners in the Europa League places. Mikel Arteta will want to rebuild his squad after what was a terrible season for the AFC fans.

Is Maddison a good move?

The 24-year-old has been a Leicester player since 2018. He learnt his trade playing for Norwich, Coventry and Aberdeen before moving to the Premier League.

In 24 starts last season, the Englishman scored eight and assisted five. These may not be astonishing stats but Maddison has been known for scoring world-class goals.

His career has slowed a bit in the last two years due to minor injuries, resulting in him not being picked for England’s Euro 2020 squad.

He looks to be back on form after playing a major role in their Community Shield win over Manchester City last weekend.

This would definitely be a great deal for Arsenal who need a replacement for Martin Odegaard who had a successful loan spell at the club last year.

With little time left in the transfer window, Arsenal will need to start speeding up their negotiations.

Liverpool Ticket Update Ahead Of Final Pre-Season Game

Liverpool FC has issued an update to fans ahead of their final pre-season game against Osasuna on Monday evening after their penultimate fixture against Athletic Bilbao was marred by problems concerning tickets.

After fans could not get into Anfield before the original kick-off time, the fixture was delayed twice until they took their seats.

The club is asking those attending to download their NFC pass, get in early with incentives to push this, and print out multiple tickets if you are going to the game with someone to improve the speed at turnstiles.

In a statement on their site, Liverpool said: “We would like to thank everyone who attended the first pre-season home game yesterday against Athletic Club for their patience and understanding while accessing Anfield.

“With a number of changes having been made to the way fans can now use their tickets at the turnstiles, these pre-season games have been a trial to test the new NFC technology and the new entry system at Anfield.

“Some issues were identified while fans were entering the stadium yesterday and following a full review and debrief of the process, improvements and key learnings have been made ahead of tonight’s match.

“Turnstiles will open at 4 pm today and we are encouraging supporters to arrive early. Kids who enter the stadium before 6 pm can receive free soft drinks as a thank-you.

“Supporters are also asked to ensure they are fully prepared when they come to the turnstiles, making sure that they have downloaded their NFC pass to their phone and are ready to scan their tickets when reaching the turnstile.

“We are strongly encouraging families and groups, where possible, to print their e-tickets off at home, so phones do not have to be passed back and forth to get groups through the same turnstiles, this will speed up the entry process.

“We look forward to welcoming more fans back to Anfield and thank you for your continued support and understanding.”

How to Stream Your Favorite Sports Online

There has never been a better time to be a sports fan. With a simple app—a quick press of a button—you can watch any event you want if you wish to rewatch the Euros that just ended a few days ago or prepare for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics

However, this convenience and accessibility to sports around the world have come with a few obstacles. Today, let’s go over a couple of these obstacles and how you can get past them and enjoy watching sports online again.

Obstacles Preventing Sports Streaming

Geo-Blocking

The term “geo-blocking” is used by a lot of companies and many governments for multiple purposes. Sometimes, geo-blocking is good; it can be used for online purchases so that proper taxes can be applied at checkout or limit gambling in certain areas due to local laws. But sometimes, geo-blocking gets in the way of entertainment, especially when it comes to sports.

Most major streaming services, including the ones you would use to watch sports on, use geo-blocking to limit available content in certain countries. For example, some sports channels may only be available in the United States.

Geo-blocking can be especially annoying while traveling outside the country. It’s a headache to see that the streaming service you use without issue in your hometown is now non-functional in the country you traveled to.

Confusing Subscriptions and Schedules

Not all issues regarding sports streaming involve geo-blocking, however. Sometimes, the services themselves make watching your favorite events difficult. For example, watching the 2021 Euros required some users to juggle multiple streaming services just to watch the full tournament or subscribe to an on-demand service like Sling TV and use various channels for different games.

Juggling multiple services and channels is common when streaming sports, and it’s an annoyance that has haunted sports fans since online streaming became commonplace. This unnecessary complexity has resulted in many people not bothering streaming events or turning towards illegal streaming sites for a simplified streaming experience. Doing so is not recommended.

How to Get the Best Streaming Experience

It’s clear that the world of sports streaming is too complicated for its own good. But there are a couple of ways to simplify it so that you can watch the sports and events you want without much of a headache.

1. A VPN to Overcome Geo-Blocking

Let’s first turn our focus to geo-blocking and how users can get rid of it. There aren’t many tools designed to bypass geo-blocking, primarily because doing so is a difficult and expensive process. That, plus streaming services are constantly updating their geo-blocking techniques.

However, this doesn’t mean users are out of options. Using a Virtual Private Network—a VPN service—sports fans can bypass geo-blocking by routing their connections to the streaming service through a VPN server located in the country of their choice. This gives them full access to that country’s catalog along with unrestricted access to the channels they need to watch their favorite sports.

2. Research the Channels Needed

Many sporting events require a subscription to an on-demand streaming service like Sling TV, Hulu Live TV, YouTube TV, and vice versa. These services differ from regular streaming services due to offering a package of channels (a practice similar to cable) that users can tune in to at any time.

This sounds simple enough, but keeping track of all the channels you might need can be exhausting. Before you subscribe to any of these services, make sure that the service has all the channels you need to be included in their packages.

Conclusion

After a year of canceled games and tournaments, 2021 is proving to be a year to remember for sports fans worldwide. However, streaming sports can dampen the fun, but there are a few ways to ease your streaming experience.

Will the Sancho effect boost Manchester United title chances?

As one of the most prolonged transfer sagas in recent years, even the most ardent
Manchester United fans were probably getting tired of hearing about Jadon Sancho,
especially with the club having waited so long to eventually get their man. Now the deal
is finally done, the Red Devils have acquired a genuinely world class player, one who
could make all the difference in their pursuit of silverware.

What does Jadon Sancho bring to Manchester United?

Insofar as performances with Borussia Dortmund last season are concerned, the
numbers produced by Sancho were second only to Erling Haaland, according to
whoscored.com match ratings. The young Englishman registered a strong 7.54
average match rating from 26 games in the Bundesliga, whilst also being a highly
valuable attacking contributor. During the 2020-2021 campaign, Sancho scored 16
goals and provided 28 assists in all competitions.

Following such an impressive individual campaign with the German outfit, Manchester
United fans have every reason to be excited about Sancho making the switch to Old
Trafford. Likewise, despite having only celebrated his 21st birthday in March of this
year, this is a player who is already well established at the highest level of the game,
having demonstrated great maturity and gained valuable experience over the last few
seasons.

After making his senior debut with Borussia Dortmund in October 2017, Sancho went
on to register statistics that place him firmly amongst the best players in world football.
He leaves Dortmund having made a total of 137 appearances, registering an excellent
overall tally of 50 goals and 64 assists. Sancho has also demonstrated superb tactical
and positional flexibility, capable of operating on both sides of the pitch or through the
middle.

Making the move to Germany was an astute decision by Sancho, having relished in a
different footballing environment and made the most of his opportunities. Had he
remained with Manchester City in England, the progress of Sancho as a player would
likely have been stunted, whereas in Dortmund, he was afforded the chance to develop
and thrive. Beyond a youthful player with bags of potential, United are getting a gem
which is already highly polished.

High hopes and great expectations
Any big transfer deal is always going to be accompanied by intense pressure, both for
the player and his new club. Nevertheless, this is a move which Sancho appears to be
taking quite comfortably in his stride, matched by the utmost confidence from the
United hierarchy, which encouraged the club to go that extra mile to make the transfer
happen this summer.

Eurosport recently quoted Erling Haaland as being “sad” about the departure of
Sancho from Dortmund, given the deadly duo forged a magnificent and highly effective
partnership on the pitch. The towering Norwegian will certainly miss the assists
provided by his former colleague, who always appeared capable of discovering ways
through even toughest Bundesliga defences. Clearly a vital player for his team, Sancho
will be sorely missed.

Meanwhile, the new United player will be welcomed with open arms by Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer, inevitably delighted at having such a talented addition joining his squad.
While few can question the capability and levels of performance Sancho has already
displayed, some will wonder how he deals with intense pressure. Having missed one of
the penalties which consigned England to a Euro 2020 final defeat against Italy, he will
be under the spotlight.
Alongside his new teammate and friend Marcus Rashford, it almost seems inevitable
rival fans will target Sancho for abuse for that England penalty miss. Hopefully, none of
that will affect either his confidence or self-belief. In addition, while he will undoubtedly
enjoy great support from United fans, at the same time, they will expect him to deliver
top quality performances every game. Providing he can cope with all that, Sancho
should shine through.

Sancho raising the stakes at United

Having finally secured the capture of Sancho, the 21-year-old gives Manchester United
a significant boost in attacking quality. Such an important addition could also see
oddsmakers view their Premier League chances more favourably. But before throwing
money at any online bookmakers, take time to read some reviews for the best football
betting sites. Find out about special features, the range of markets and bonus offers
available.
Just as many of us will be looking for good value bets in the season to come, United
will be hoping their outlay for Sancho is money well spent. With another couple of
quality signings, don’t be surprised to see their Premier League title odds become
considerably shorter.

Messi: The End of an Era

Few footballers stay with a single club for the better part of their career. Most of them are looking for advancement opportunities, migrating from club to club, from lower-tier leagues to higher ones. Many of them dream of playing in the Bundesliga or the Premier League. Not Messi, though. The 34-year-old Argentine forward joined Barcelona as a youth, coming all the way from his native Rosario, and hasn’t left… until this summer, when his contract with the Catalan team silently expired.

For weeks, anyone with an internet connection capable to make an account for betting – and their dogs – were speculating on where the player would end up next. We still don’t know – all we know is that it won’t be Barcelona.

A two-decade career

It’s hard to believe that Messi was almost sidelined in his early teens by a medical condition. At the age of 10, when he was already a “seasoned” player at Newell’s Old Boys in his native Rosario, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone issue that cost a great deal to treat. The club promised to help his family pay for the $1000-a-month treatment but didn’t make good on the promise. To save his future, his family took him overseas – the Messis had relatives in Barcelona at the time. Barca’s team director Charly Rexach wanted to sign him immediately, considering his record – he was a prolific goalscorer already. Ultimately, at the end of 2000, he received a contract written on a napkin and a spot at Camp Nou, something Barca never regretted.

Messi graduated from Barcelona’s youth academy in 2003 and quickly became a part of the first team. In his two-decade career, he broke a series of records – he became the top goalscorer in the Spanish top-tier league, the player with the most hat-tricks (36) and assists (192), scoring more than 750 career goals so far.

And he won pretty much every prize, distinction, and accolade possible, for club and country.

Back to Barca? Not…

When Messi’s contract expired with Barca, there were lots of rumours circulating about where the 34-year-old player will go next. While he may be past his prime, he would’ve been a great asset for any team. Some thought that he would return to Rosario and play for Newell’s Old Boys again, others considered a new contract with Barcelona the most likely scenario. And for a while, the latter seemed to be the correct assumption: the leadership of the club announced that they are ready to sign a new agreement, with a massive pay cut and other changes. At the time, the deal was still under review by the player.

Now, in turn, it’s certain: Messi is gone. And with him, an era is ending.
