Saracens field ineligible player

When you think things can’t get any worse for Saracens they are now in trouble for fielding an ineligible player.

But Leinster fans will be delighted because they would face Glasgow if Saracens get deducted points.

This is all coming to light after an investigation, EPCR has decided to bring a misconduct complaint against Saracens arising from the club’s Heineken Champions Cup, Round 6 match against Racing 92 on Sunday, 19 January.

EPCR was informed by Saracens earlier this week that their player, Titi Lamositele, who was named in the match day squad for the fixture at Allianz Park and who came on to the field of play as a replacement in the 60th minute, may have been ineligible due an inadvertent administrative error on behalf of the club.

Lamositele was eligible at the time the Saracens match day squad was announced, however, the club has indicated to EPCR that the player’s work permit expired on Saturday, 18 January, the day before the fixture against Racing 92, and this may have constituted a breach of the Disciplinary Rules of the 2019/20 EPCR Participation Agreement.

An independent Disciplinary Committee consisting of Roger Morris (Wales), Chair, Pamela Woodman (Scotland) and Jean-Noel Couraud (France) has been appointed to hear the misconduct complaint in London this evening (Friday, 7 February) at 18.00 local time.

EPCR will be making no further comment until the decision of the independent Disciplinary Committee has been communicated.

Notes
a) Independent Disciplinary Committees are chosen by the Chairman of the independent Disciplinary Panel, Mike Hamlin.
b) EPCR’s Disciplinary Officer presents the case against the club/individual.
c) All parties to the hearing (EPCR and the club/individual) have the right to appeal decisions of the independent Disciplinary Committee. Appeals must be lodged within three working days of receiving the full written decision from the Chairman of the independent Disciplinary Committee.
d) The full written decision of the independent Disciplinary Committee will be available on www.epcrugby.com/discipline/decisions.php when the disciplinary process is complete.

Top 5 GAA Bets for the Weekend

There is no Allianz Hurling League this weekend but there is action in the football league. With that in mind let’s take a look at our top 5 gaa bets for the weekend below.

  1. Waterford v Wexford – Wexford win @ 4/9 – Paul Galvin’s side will be boosted by the big win over Carlow last weekend. They sit in mid table here. A win would certainly put them back in the hunt for promotion. They are playing a Waterford side that have struggled losing two games. Wexford should win.

2. Donegal v Galway – Donegal win @8/13 – This is a tricky game to call but Donegal have an impressive record in Letterkenny. They beat Meath last weekend easily enough. They should have more in the tank here and come out winners.

3. Dublin v Monaghan – Dublin -4 @10/11 – Dublin have looked comfortable enough this season already with one draw and then a win over Mayo last weekend. This game will be in Croke Park which will obviously benefit them. I expect them to put on another good show.

4. Westmeath v Fermanagh – Westmeath @ 11/10 – Not much to separate the teams here but home advantage swings in Westmeath’s favour. Division 2 is very close with 6 teams on 2 points. At 11/10 the Lake County are great odds.

5. Wicklow v Sligo – Sligo @ 8/13Sligo currently sit top of Division 4 and a win here will do no harm to their prospects of promotion. They should beat Wicklow on paper but Aughrim is a tough place to go so it will be a close game. But the Yeats county should nick the win by a point or two.

This pays around the 14/1 mark this weekend. It is certainly worth a 2 euro bet even for fun. That completes our top 5 gaa bets for the weekend.

Juventus Lining up a record deal for Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool FC is on the verge of winning the Premier League. But celebrations might be very short-lived if Virgil van Dijk leaves.

According to reports in Italy and top European papers, star center back Virgil van Dijk is on the radar of the Turin side. Juventus are the Serie A giant that carries a marvelous club history.

On the other hand, could a record-breaking transfer deal to Juventus charm the Liverpool and Dutch National team captain.

Juventus has managed to secure the signatures of the different and amazing caliber of players, one of which is Cristiano Ronaldo. Did you know you can place your bettings on good players like Ronaldo and also play online casino games usa related to your team?

Nevertheless, it’s not a surprise that Juventus are in the hunt to sign a center back. This is because their defensive players are near the end of their career. The likes of Bonucci and Chiellini only have a few seasons left.

At the same time is not a surprise why Juventus are after Van Dijk to so that the Liverpool man can partner Matthijs de Ligt.

If they win the premiership he might leave

“Forza Juve”! Will be the main chant when the summer transfer window opens in July. The Turin fan base will be chanting for their club to strengthen the squad during the transfer market.

However, Maurizio Sarri’s side has managed to set their sights on their target man. The Liverpool skipper is the man they think will help them to accomplish their Champions League dream, did you know Liverpool is so famous in sports betting industry.

Juventus are set to make a £150m offer. This offer might tempt The Red side of Merseyside to part ways with the 28-year-old.

Reports circulating claims that the Dutch international might consider moving abroad when Liverpool win the Premier League. And this is now more likely to happen with the huge lead Klopp side has at the moment.  If you want to place a bet on any other team to win the premiership you can get 100/1.

Six Nations Tips Round 2

Round 2 of the Six Nations gets underway on Saturday when Ireland welcome Wales to the Aviva Stadium at 2.15pm. In addition, England play Scotland at Murrayfield at 4.45pm. The final game of the round takes place on Sunday with France taking on Italy at 3pm in the Stade De France.

Ireland v Wales, 2.15pm Saturday, Aviva Stadium

Ireland are favourites to win the game at 8/13, Wales are a nice price at 6/4. Wales hammered Ireland year in the Millenium Stadium so that has to be remembered here, albeit Wales will be down a few players from that win. Josh Adams scored three tries against Italy last weekend, he is 9/5 to score anytime here. Peter O’Mahony at  14/1 to get man of the match looks fantastic. Remember last weekend I tipped CJ Stander and he was selected as the winner at 14/1. Another bet would be Justin Tipuric at 16/1.

Scotland v England, 4.45pm, Murrayfield

England suffered a loss to France last weekend which ends their grand slam ambitions. They are 3/10 favourites here for this Calcutta Cup match, while Scotland are 11/4. I expect this game to be close but England to win. Jonny May at 6/1 to get the first try is a cracker of a bet. England to win by 1-12 points at 7/5 would also be a good selection here.

France v Italy, 3.00pm, Stade De France

France come into this game as heavy 1/40 favourites after an impressive win over England in the opening round. Italy are massive outsiders at 16/1. For me it’s a France win here, backing them -26 in the handicap market looks a good bet at 10/11. Antoin Dupont to get man of the match at around 8/1 is also a good selection.

Division 2: Laois v Cavan, Preview, Team News and live scores

Preview

Laois come into the game on top of Division 2 after a win and a draw from two games. Laois drew with Roscommon in a dramatic opening round game in Dr Hyde Park. Evan O’Carroll grabbing an injury time goal for Mike Quirke’s charges. They beat Armagh comprehensively last weekend in O’Moore Park. A game that will surely only boost confidence more. Players like Evan O’Carroll, Kieran Lillis and Rob Piggott will be key for them here.

Cavan come into the game with one win and one loss. They lost heavily to Armagh on the opening weekend. However, they recorded a good win over Westmeath last weekend. Ciaran Brady, Padraig Faulkner, Martin Reilly and Gearoid McKiernan will be key to Mickey Graham’s side success here.

Team News

Teams have yet to be revealed by the respective managers. These are likely to be announced on Friday evening.

Betting

In terms of betting this is close to call with Laois favourites at odds of 8/13. Cavan are priced at 13/8. The draw is 15/2. I fancy Laois to continue their good start and sneak a 1 point win here. There is no live coverage of Laois v Cavan but make sure to check the link for updates.

Wales call up two players to Six Nations Squad

Wales boss Wayne Pivac has called up two players to his Six Nations squad to play Ireland this weekend. He has called up uncapped players Dewi Lake and Taine Basham. According to RTE Sport the Wales U20 internationals have been training with the squad in recent weeks.

No players have been dropped from the squad to allow both players into the side. Lake currently plays with Ospreys, while Basham plays with the Dragons. Pivac incidentally selected a squad of 38 players before the commencement of the Six Nations. However, due to injuries sustained for one reason or another, Pivac has felt it was time to bring in some cover. Owen Lane was released from the squad last month with a hamstring injury, while his Cardiff team mate Josh Navidi is out but is still in the squad, as is Liam Williams.

Wales though will be boosted this weekend with the likely return of Elliott Dee, Owen Watkin and Gareth Davies. These have all resumed training and will certainly be giving Pivac a selection headache ahead of the game.

The Wales team has since been announced with just one change from the starting team that hammered Italy last weekend. Nick Tompkins comes into centre, where he will partner Hadleigh Parkes. In the front row Wyn Jones, Ken Owens and Dillion Lewis are all selected. Alun Wyn Jones will partner Jake Ball in the second row. In the back row Aaron Wainwright, Justin Tipuric and Taulape Faletau are selected. Leigh Halfpenny is at full back, with George North and Josh Adams on the wings. Dan Biggar is at fly half along with Tomos Williams at scrum half.

The Ireland squad was named earlier this week by Andy Farrell which sees two changes. Peter O’Mahony comes into the side to replace Caelan Dorris, while Robbie Henshaw replaces the injured Garry Ringrose.

Wales Six Nations team to play Ireland

15. Leigh Halfpenny (86 Caps)

McShane set to stay with Tyrone

2019 All-Star Cathal McShane is set to stay with Tyrone. McShane took trials with the Adelaide Crows in the AFL. They have since confirmed that he will not be making the trip to the other side of the world. They confirmed this in a tweet.

According to RTE Sport McShane undertook a 10 day trial at Adelaide. However, he is now expected to commit to the Red Hands for 2020. In a statement released by Adelaide on their site the General manager and strategy Justin Reid said, “It is a big decision to relocate to the other side of the world and pursue a professional career in a different sport,”. The statement said that Cathal wasn’t ready for and they wished him the best of luck in the future.

According to the Irish Mirror the 2019 Championship scorer revealed that a job opportunity in his native Tyrone played a key decision to stay. Speaking to BBC Sport Northern Ireland he said, “This career opportunity given to me by Keystone [Lintels] was a big deciding factor in me staying”. Furthermore, he stated that it was something that he enjoyed, “It was something that I really enjoyed. I felt that I did really well when I was out there. The game was a new experience for me.”

He said the players and staff in Adelaide were very welcoming. However, he stated that once he got back to Ireland he had to weigh up the decision to which one was right. He said “It was very close in terms of obviously there’s deadlines for decisions”. Iit did come down to the wire in terms of the last day where I had to make my decision”.

Mickey Harte was delighted with the news, saying “As long as he hadn’t signed anything to say for sure he was going, I’m kind of the optimistic sort of person and I believed everything was possible that he would still stay.”  McShane is more than likely back training with Tyrone and could possibly make the bench for their weekend game with Kerry at 2pm in Omagh on Sunday.
