Video – Willie Mullins talks about his list of main runners at Punchestown

It’s a great week for racing fans, but this year we will be watching on tv, Video – Willie Mullins talks about his list of main runners at Punchestown.

  • “No racetrack like it in the world” says Mullins

There are many factors contributing to the stunning rise of Willie Mullins to the dominant force he is now in jump racing.

Of those, perhaps the unflappability of the Closutton maestro, on the cusp of being crowned champion trainer in Ireland for the 15th time at the conclusion of the Punchestown Festival and having brought his Cheltenham Festival tally of winners to 78 as he left Prestbury Park with another leading handler’s prize, is a mite undervalued.

“Lots of people get their knickers in a twist about things,” Mullins observes with a smile of his focus on controlling controllables and not stressing about a potential problem, before it materialises. “What can you do about it? That’s the way it is. Just tackle it when it arrives in front of you.”

So it was that he refused to get flustered in advance about doomsday predictions regarding the potentially toxic alchemy of Brexit and Covid-19 for Cheltenham, and he is the same about the availability or otherwise of stable jockey Paul Townend for Punchestown’s end-of-season carnival.

Townend injured a foot after a fall at Fairyhouse on April 4 and has been out of action since but his boss doesn’t intend enquiring about the Cork pilot’s fitness until he needs to know.

“It is progressing but very slowly,” declares Mullins of Townend’s recovery. “I didn’t speak to Paul for a few days but I just said, ‘Let’s not talk, you just do what you have to do and get your boots made.’ He is going to have to have a protective boot made for the leg that is injured and I just said, ‘Get yourself ready and I’ll talk to you the morning we are doing declarations and we’ll see how he is.’”

Paddy and Maureen Mullins always had Punchestown in their sights and their eldest son’s earliest memory of it is being allowed see the action while attending Coláiste na Rinne in the Waterford Gaeltacht of Rinn Ó gCuanach.

“The Fear An Tí brought me into his house to watch my mother’s horse winning whatever big hurdle race it was at the time – I won’t tell you when that was!

“Punchestown is what we always look forward to. There is huge prize money, fantastic racing, they always produce great ground and just the amphitheatre of Punchestown itself.

“I love going up there on the Sunday before the Festival to walk the track and just looking back on the track from the top of the hill, it is just an amazing place.

“I often think there is no racetrack like it in the world when you see it laid out for five days racing and all the different rails that are set up. It’s just amazing and the whole concept of the Punchestown Festival is huge when you see the work and preparation that goes into it.

“Prize money is key to any sport, I think. The new Punchestown is a different ball game altogether, my father would have been delighted to be training nowadays to see the facilities and the ground that they produce.”

One notable facet of the Mullins machine has been how often his champions have been able to put an exclamation mark on their campaigns at Punchestown, despite having endured and overcome significant tests throughout the term.

“It has surprised me as well over the years that, after going to Leopardstown at Christmas, Cheltenham, maybe Aintree and some of them maybe back to Fairyhouse, that they can still perform so well. We don’t take that for granted, we are delighted and maybe as surprised as other people looking because you don’t expect your horses to be at top level coming into the last month of the year but we’ve often found that horses might even put in their best performance all year there.

“They all get a break after whatever big Festival and everyone has their different ways of giving their horses a break but you’ve got to get back into them then and make sure they are all good and have enough done. Some horses take very little work, others take a lot of work.

“The different members of staff that ride the horses are able to tell me and give me feedback and with their feedback and our own eyes we make decisions and they can work. Some of them don’t work, you hear of the ones that do work but we’ve come home from Punchestown with lots of disappointments too.”

Looking ahead to the battalions that Mullins is readying for battle at the Punchestown Festival, we can expect both quantity and quality as the Punchestown prize money is too lucrative to ignore.

“There is fantastic prize money so we are not putting them out to grass just yet. They’ll get plenty of grass in the summer!”

Day one of the Punchestown Festival on Tuesday is set to see a clash of Closutton titans in the Grade 1 William Hill Champion Chase as Chacun Pour Soi faces Allaho.

“The William Hill Champion Chase could be a good race,” he mused. “At the moment I’m looking at the race for Allaho. I’d just like to see what he can do over two miles, he jumps so efficiently and so well, that is where my head is at at the moment.

“I love horses that jump as quick as him and if you can jump that quick usually you can come back in trip a bit. I think Allaho has the jumping technique to jump with two milers and he gallops well enough, we all saw that in Cheltenham. It’s worth a craic I think, we’ve got to ask the question in Punchestown and then we will know where we want to go next year.”

Reflecting on Chacun Pour Soi’s performance at Cheltenham, Mullins said: “I just didn’t think we made enough use of Chacun Pour Soi (at Cheltenham). Maybe our tactics just let us down on the day. It is easy be wise afterwards.

“I think this is the natural race for him. There will be plenty of pace on and Cilaos Emery will probably go there as well so we will be well represented in the race.”

The tone of strong representation for the champion trainer will be set in the opening Grade 1 event of the week, the eCOMM Merchant Solutions Champion Novice Hurdle in which Appreciate It leads the charge.

Appreciate It has surprised me,” Mullins admitted. “I never dreamt he had that much speed but he jumps, he gallops as well. He probably takes a lot of speed out of horses with the cruising speed he has as well and will definitely go for the eCOMM Merchant Solutions Champion Novice Hurdle.

Blue Lord is in there as well and he was going to run a fantastic race at Cheltenham before he fell at the last. I think he will improve for the flatter track and the nicer ground we will have at Punchestown. Echoes In Rain is interesting. She will probably go for the mares’ race but her performance in Fairyhouse was very good and she is in the eCOMM Merchant Solutions Champion Novice Hurdle on Tuesday getting a nice fillies allowance so we’ll see.”

Tuesday’s Grade 1 Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase has the potential to be a race for the ages with Envoi Allen and Monkfish likely to lock horns for the first time and once again the Mullins support cast is enviable.

Monkfish didn’t jump with the same flair that he jumped (with previously) and he didn’t gallop with the same flair (at Cheltenham) but he’ll go for the three mile race.

Colreevy has been covered by Walk In The Park and she will go for the Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase. That will probably be her last run. The Flynns are out and out breeders and she is a fantastic looking mare and hopefully she’ll be lucky.

“From winning the Arkle at Christmas over two miles I think I’m going to put Franco De Port in over three miles for and that will tell us where we are going next year. We’ll have a good hand in that race.”

Wednesday’s feature race is the Ladbrokes Gold Cup, a race in which Mullins saddled the first and second when it was last run in 2019 as Kemboy got the better of Al Boum Photo and Ruby Walsh retired on the spot.

Both horses are reported to be well ahead of a return to that stage where they’ll be joined by stable companions Melon and Easy Game and will face the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Minella Indo and the Paul Nicholls-trained Clan Des Obeaux who is due to be supplemented for the race tomorrow.

“Lots of people could say that Al Boum Photo’s run might have been good enough to win the last two Gold Cup’s and he just met two good horses on the day. I’m not saying he’d have won the Gold Cup but I thought he could have run better, maybe he didn’t fire as well as he has. Certainly the last five jumps weren’t as strong as they were last year. He has worked well in the meantime and I’m happy with him where he is at the moment.

Kemboy will go for the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup again and he worked very well the other morning, I was very pleased with him and I’m finding it hard to find a race for Easy Game so he will probably take his chance in the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup.”

The ITM – Supporting Irish Store Sales Champion Bumper will see the first two home from the Cheltenham equivalent clash as Sir Gerhard and Kilcruit top the entries.

“I imagine Kilcruit will run, Sir Gerhard will run and we have a few more there. Ramillies is a horse whose homework is good. It might not be as good as the other two (Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard) but it is good and I still think there is a good horse lurking in there somewhere and it has to come out. Maybe a change of track and a flat track like Punchestown might bring it out in him. Grangee is there, she will probably go for the mares bumper.

“I think the track might suit Kilcruit better so we’ll see. It’ll be different and worth watching anyway.”

The Paddy Power Champion Hurdle will be the target for Sharjah who followed home Honeysuckle at Cheltenham last month.

Sharjah ran a fantastic race in Cheltenham. I don’t think he could have improved much more. He’ll go for the Paddy Power Champion Hurdle. I’ve got James Du Berlais, Klassical Dream and Saldier in that race as well and we’ll see what way they go.

“James Du Berlais disappointed me at Cheltenham as his homework was way better than that. He holds entries in the two mile and the three mile hurdles so we’ll see when they do their final bits of work which direction they go.”

Energumene was a high profile absentee from the Cheltenham Festival but remains on course to return to action in the Ryanair Novice Chase.

Energumene had a little mishap before Cheltenham and I thought that was him for the season but he recovered quickly. I was trying to get him ready for Fairyhouse and then I felt it wasn’t fair on the horse to go to Fairyhouse so I said I’d wait for Punchestown and he’s been fine since so I’m looking forward to getting him out.”

The 2021 Punchestown Festival will take place from Tuesday 27th April to Saturday 1st May. Full coverage will be available each day on RTÉ and Racing TV as well as interaction on all Punchestown social media platforms.

Football lacking any soul – Fan’s perspective on European Super League

Saturday evening was an exciting one for me personally, having just watched my club, Chelsea, defeat soon-to-be Premier League Champions Manchester City in the Semi-Final of the FA Cup at Wembley. Booking our 4th FA Cup Final in the past five seasons along with a Champions League Semi-Final against Real Madrid to look forward to.

It is a rather exciting time to be a Chelsea fan. To say I slept soundly is an understatement, knowing that the possibility of another FA Cup and Champions League double is actually not far off.

Come Sunday night, the ludicrous proposal of a European Super League only containing the so-called’elite’ clubs came to fruition. I, along with millions of other supporters of the ‘’big 6’’ in England came to the realisation that football as we know it is on the verge of being purely and simply dispatched and dissected all for more revenue and entitlement within the football pyramid.

So, what is the European Super League? Twelve of Europe’s leading football clubs (soon-to-be 20) will all take part in a midweek competition, administered by the owners and executives by its ‘Founding Clubs’. It has been touted as a direct competitor to the already established and historic Champions League.

It will include England’s big-six clubs – Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham along with three teams from La Liga, and three teams from Serie A have been confirmed to finalise as the ‘Founding Clubs’.

Not only has this announcement, shaken the core of the football world, but it has made fans like me, fall out of love with the greatest sport in the world. Creating such a toxic environment that rival fans are coming together in support to overwhelm their club owners in an attempt to cancel their profit-orientated mindset.

It really is the football equivalent to a nuclear war, emphatically creating such a seismic shift in the history of football that if these plans were to officially move forward, football as a whole will die a slow and soulless death.

As a Chelsea fan, I have been grateful to our owner Roman Abramovich. From saving our club that was on the brink of collapse pre-takeover, the constant decade of glorious success, his valiant efforts in funding the fight against racism and antisemitism that has alluded the club going back all the way to the 1980s. Abramovich, also stood up during the Covid-19 pandemic, letting NHS staff use the Millennium and Copthorne hotels along with supplying free food and water at Stamford Bridge.

Without furloughing Chelsea’s staff or relying on Government loans to keep afloat during the troubling times. His impact and legacy for the history of Chelsea will never be questioned.

However, some of his managerial decisions, harsh treatment of club legends, and is known simply as a ‘sacking club’. Even for Abramovich and Chelsea, agreeing to be a founding member in a competition that not only bankrupts any moral standards we had left as a club but marginalises the core fanbase that has been supporting the club long before the money era of the 2000s, 2010s, and to the present day.

Ironically, the one trophy Abramovich always craved was the Champions League. Acting as ruthlessly as an owner can get in a bid for the trophy with the big ears. I, for one, assumed he wanted more and more European success in its biggest competition, but now he is throwing it all away for the sake of increasing their commercial revenue and European standing.

It reeks of moral ineptitude, ignorance, and quick nature thinking and Abramovich knows this. With reports from Sky and other media outlets that Chelsea along with Manchester City was cautious about joining the league but was ultimately fearful of playing in a ‘’weakened Premier League and Champions League’’.

Not only has Abramovich, along with FSG, The Glazers, Daniel Levy, Stan Kroenke, and the City Football Group have undermined their fans so badly, that clubs with rich history and traditions in England such as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal have been corrupted by greed and have completely negated United’s Busby Babes of the Munich air Disaster, to Bill Shankly of the great Liverpool teams of decades gone by and to Arsenal’s standings in the FA Cup, thirteen league titles, with their Invincible season topping off a glorious time in the history of the club.

All six club’s reputations and potential futures are being traded for the opportunistic pursuit of greed and standing above lesser clubs. It truly is a prime example of poisonous elitism that has been apparent in the global structure of football for years, only now being brought to the surface.

There has also been speculation that this year’s remaining Champions and Europa League games will be cancelled with immediate effect. However, with contractual obligations with TV broadcasters and sponsors in consideration, the likelihood of this happening is slim.

With the possibility of each club being banned from their domestic leagues and competitions, along with the Champions League. If this Super League were to motor on with even more backlash, the possibility of my club and many others being subsequently banned for taking part is detrimental to the sport, the club, and more importantly the fans.

No matter what happens, if this American franchise outlook on football falls flat on its face, the repercussions and aftermath will never be forgotten, hyperbolic or not, each and every club has blood on its hands, many opinions on past success will be looked back on with disappointment and any future achievements will be tainted in many fans’ eyes, mine included.

Whatever happens, football as we know is dead, lacking any soul it had left, and has officially gone from football to ‘soccer’.

English Premier League Signings of the Season 2020/21

Fans always look forward to the Premier League signings because they are excited to see the new additions to their favorite teams.

Some will make the teams better and give them a shot at winning, while others will be disappointing for fans. There are a lot of surprises this year, most notably Ruben Dias, Diogo Jota, and Ben Godfrey. Take a look at some of the exciting signings this season.

Ruben Dias

Ruben Dias signed a six-year deal with Manchester City, which was the third signing last summer. He was a Benfica defender, and the deal was worth 62 million pounds. He wears the number 3 shirt, and he was excited for this opportunity. Manchester City was already dominant, and this signing makes them a better team.

Diogo Jota

Diogo Jota signed with Liverpool last summer after playing for the Wolves in the Premier League. The deal was worth £41 million, and he is an asset to the team. When they signed him, they opted against Timo Werner who went to Chelsea. However, clubs are staggering the payments out, which helps to increase the value. Financing deals such as this one allows teams to make moves that they might not otherwise make. The Wolves have money coming in for a few seasons, and Liverpool gets Jota now to bolster their team.

Ben Godfrey

Everton signed Ben Godfrey as their fifth major signing last summer. He followed the signing of James Rodriguez, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Niels Nkounkou. Godfrey came from Norwich for a fee of £20 million. He is 22 years old, and he made 30 appearances alongside Daniel Farke. He was excited to be signed, and he wants to be a part of winning games and trophies for the team. One great thing about him is that he always gives it everything he has, and he hopes to develop into a top player.

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland is 20, and he was signed by Borussia Dortmund last January. He has scored 49 goals in 52 games, and he is a hot ticket for several of Europe’s best clubs. He will command a high salary so the teams that can afford him are few. Undoubtedly, Dortmund will fight hard to keep him, so it will be interesting to see where he winds up.

Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero is a 32-year-old who is the all-time record goal scorer for Manchester City. He is available in June when his contract expires, but he has suffered injuries over the years. Some clubs will likely be interested because he is a star as long as he is healthy.

Other Signings

Many teams are looking for undiscovered athletes with a lot of potential who are going to shine. Leicester City succeeded when they signed N’Golo Kante for just over £5 million and it worked out well. Another player, Riyad Mahrez, joined that Leicester team for just about £400,000.

The Premier League Transfer System

The clubs in the Premier League are allowed to purchase and sell players during the winter and summer transfer times. The European Commission created this agreement so that it could help both players and clubs with stable contracts while allowing trades and signings at certain times of the year. This helped to ensure that contracts are enforceable.

A number of transfers take place during these windows, and fans get excited about their favorite teams’ signings. They factor them in when they make football bets online at one of the great online sports betting operators.

Final Words

The Premier League signings are always exciting. People look to see what stars are available and which unknown players will turn out to be a great addition. Seeing the teams make changes to try to build a winning club is always fun. Some signings are more notable than others, and they can change the future of a club. The League has created the contract windows to make sure that contracts are enforceable for both players and teams, and it helps to make the season more predictable for fans. When fans want to place wagers on their favorite clubs, they can factor in the new signings, and this makes it more predictable and enjoyable.

Current and ex-pros react to announcement of European Super League

There has been considerable backlash over the plan.

Football clubs are businesses, that’s a fact. The owners of these clubs strive to maintain a profitable model while competing at a top level year after year. However, without fans, none of this would be possible. This makes it all the more frustrating when you consider that fans are routinely pushed aside when it comes to interests regarding the football clubs they support.

The last few years have seen unprecedented levels of greed from many football club owners, particularly those competing in the top 5 European leagues. This has resulted in plans for a so-called “European Super League”, a competition which contains 12 of Europe’s top clubs, has no promotion or relegation and was formulated purely to protect the financial interests of the club’s involved.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus, Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the clubs in question.

Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund all rejected/opposed invitations to the competition.

“The club wants to implement the planned reform of the UEFA Champions League. The plans to found a Super League have been rejected… Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund had 100% identical views,” expressed Dortmund in an official statement made earlier today.

UEFA also completely oppose the plans put in place, even going as far to say that heavy sanctions will be imposed on clubs and players who take part in the competition.

“We are all united against this nonsense of a project… The players that will play in the closed league will be banned from playing in the World Cup and Euros,” confirmed UEFA president Alex Ceferin.

HOW FOOTBALLERS HAVE REACTED TO THE PLAN

The majority of football fans are completely against the formation of the European Super League and that extends to current and ex-pros, as well.

Several pundits made their opinions on the project clear yesterday, including Gary Neville who made a passionate argument against the formation of the competition.

“I’m disgusted, absolutely disgusted. I’m disgusted with Manchester United and Liverpool the most,” said Neville while appearing on Sky Sports yesterday.

“Liverpool say they’re the people’s club. ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, the fans’ club. Manchester United, 100 years, born from workers around here, and they’re breaking into a league without competition. It’s an absolute disgrace.”

Paris Saint-Germain footballer Ander Herrera was one of the first current pros to chime in with their opinion. He released a statement earlier today expressing concerns over the league.

A number of footballers have since followed Herrera in publicly stating their opposition to the plan.

Things to Note before Betting on Premier League Games

The premier league is one of the top soccer games being watched by millions of fans. If you love soccer and you want to bet on upcoming premier league matches, then you are in the right place. Before placing a bet, few things must be considered.  Learn some of the best tips that can help you before betting on such games:

  • Have information about the team

Before betting on any game, understanding the team’s status is the most crucial step to start with. Generally, it is essential to know about the teams you will be betting on.  Be updated with the things going on with your team. Some websites are providing important news about such teams that you can use before betting. In this case, you should have a list of premier league games and identify the match you will be interested in the most. Do not use what you hear to place your bets without doing proper research. Each team has essential players. If some of the best players are missing, then know that the team might not win. This is why you should always have in mind the news about the team.

  • Know the recent report about the team

After knowing things about the teams, you should see the recent record for more information. It is good to rely on the team’s reputation, but this is not the thing that you should use in the entire betting.  If you have exciting news about a team winning some games in the past premier league matches, this will not mean they will do well in the coming match. Some teams will do well this season and might not give the best results in the coming season. Looking at the track record of the team will tell more about the performance of the same. If you see the team’s performance from the results of their five matches, you will be able to identify what they can do in their next match. Most of the betting sites like the situs judi slot online will provide some history on the top games.

  • The motivation of the team

You can also tell the team’s performance after looking at what is motivating them to play the match. A team looking for the championship will work hard to win the game. You need to see the history of the championship matches and identify the team likely to win the match. The next match the team will place can give a clear picture of their following results.

  • Consider the weather

Determine the match results by looking at the weather condition. For the people who are going for under/ Over 2.5 odds must concentrate on the weather. During the rainy season, the number of goals can be significantly affected.

For successful betting, the above are the tips to consider before placing any bet. It is also an important tip to choose the best premier league betting sites. Read all the information about the betting site to avoid mistakes. Sites like situs judi slot online can give you the best betting experience. Good results will depend on the site and how well you know your team.

Jockey Lorna Brooke Dies After Horror Fall

It is with great sadness we report the death of Jockey Lorna Brooke after a horror fall at Taunton this month, the Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF) has announced in a statement.

A statement from the IJF was released on Monday morning, which read: “It is with deep sadness that we have to share the tragic news that Lorna Brooke passed away yesterday.

“Her family thank everyone for their kindness in the last ten days, particularly the staff at Southmeads Hospital who were so professional. They will be having a private funeral and will hold a celebration of Lorna’s life once Covid-19 restrictions allow.”

It has been a great month for racing but this tragedy will put a huge cloud over the industry.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam

Update – Saturday 17th April

A statement from the Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF) was released on behalf of her family on Friday evening, which read: “Amateur jockey Lorna Brooke is currently in intensive care at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. She is critical, but stable.

“Her family thank everyone for their good wishes but request privacy at this difficult time.”

Update 14th April

In what was a horrible fall and Lorna Brooke has been in Bristol since and there had only been one update stating that she was in a “serious but stable condition”. But her friend Kate Jones has posted an update on Facebook.

“Taken Sue to see Lorna today, due to covid regulations Sue is the only visitor allowed to see Lorna. However, I did manage to have a phone call with her, and as you would expect from the total warrior that she is her spirits are so positive!!! She is fighting her way back to recovery already”

“Her Op went well and her neck is now pinned and plated so is stable, Due to the nature of the injury, it is now a waiting game to allow the swelling to subside and hopefully allow her to regain movement. This is all in the balance so keep any prayers coming that she is able to recover to some sort of normality. It’s going to be a long road to recovery but Lorna is already talking about being able to overcome it and I’ve told her there is no option but to better as we are all wishing her to be.”

Brooke had ridden seven winners from around 200 rides over the last few seasons and had been riding Orchestrated for Lady Susan Brooke.

Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore told the Racing Post: “She [Lorna] was airlifted to Bristol Southmead Hospital for ongoing assessment and has been stabilised and was conscious throughout.

Count Otto put his assured race fitness to good use when scoring for the fourth time since the turn of the year with a tenacious success in the bet365 Handicap.

Having been kept busy during the winter the Amanda Perrett-trained Sir Prancealot gelding showed a willing attitude to back up his three victories on the all-weather this year in the six furlong contest.

Though pressed late on by Chil Chil, the six year old rallied well under Jim Crowley to hold off the Andrew Balding-trained gelding by a neck.

Perrett said of the 9-1 winner: “He is a wonderful little horse and he has been very consistent since January. He had a bit of an injury after Epsom (in July 2020) as something galloped into the back of him so it gave him a nice holiday. He has come back and it is great to see him do it on the turf.

“He was only beaten a neck at the track last year and he loves fast ground. From January that’s his fourth win of the year and any horse that does that is worth their weight in gold.

“He ran in the consolation race for the Stewards’ Cup a couple of times before. He doesn’t mind coming down a hill as long as he has the last furlong on the level.

“It would be nice to have a go in the big one (Stewards’ Cup). One of his owners would love to run in the Ayr Gold Cup but usually the ground has gone by then.”

John Catlin takes Austrian Open

John Catlin claimed his third victory in just 13 events at the Austrian Golf Open on Sunday.

The American triumphed in a dramatic five-hole play-off with Maximilian Kieffer. This followed a similarly thrilling final-day battle with the German in regulation play.

Catlin began the day two shots back from the lead. He played in the penultimate group behind Kieffer and third round leaders Martin Kaymer and Alejandro Cañizares.

The 30-year-old was at one point in the day four strokes behind Kieffer, who got off to a roaring start. A determined display from the Californian yielded seven birdies for an impressive closing 65. This forced extra holes with Kieffer, who signed for a 66.

In a roller coaster play-off, Kieffer looked to have earned a shock victory. He sank a monster putt for birdie on the third extra hole. Catlin, however, was equal to the task and knocked in a tester for his two.

It was a disappointing end for Kieffer, who found the water three times at the fifth attempt down the par three 18th at Diamond Country Club. He handed victory to a delighted Catlin – who moved to 24th in the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex.
