Countdown begins for the Mixed Ability Rugby World Cup in Ireland

The preparations to host the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament (IMART) in Ireland in June next year have commenced. This will be the 3rd edition of the worldwide Mixed Ability rugby showcase promoted by International Mixed Ability Sports (IMAS), which will take place in Cork between the 7th and 12th of June 2020.

750 players with and without disabilities,  from 24 teams and 12 different countries such as England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Canada, Argentina and New Zealand will come together to play rugby under same World Rugby laws as the XV a side game with only minor adaptations such as uncontested scrums.

5 years ago two men (Alan Craughwell and Liam Maher) came together, after a chance meeting, to form the first mixed ability rugby team in Ireland – the Sundays Well Rebels.

On the back of this they have accomplished great things:

  • The Sundays Well Rebels won the first ever International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament (IMART) Rugby World Cup held in 2015
  • They pitched for & won the chance to host the next IMART Rugby World Cup which is coming to Cork in June 2020
  • The fought for recognition from Ireland’s national rugby body, the IRFU – which they were recently granted
  • The no. of mixed ability teams in Ireland has grown

The Mixed Ability Model encourages social inclusion by removing barriers to participation for people who feel unable to join mainstream grassroots clubs or groups due to physical or learning disabilities, mental health issues, size, shape, age, prolonged inactivity, or a perception of ‘not being good enough’.

Alan Craughwell, founder of the first Mixed Ability rugby team in Ireland, ‘Sunday’s Well Rebels’, and Day Service Manager with Cope Foundation

Mixed Ability rugby and Mixed Ability sports are providing real opportunities for people with and without disabilities to experience social inclusion. Working with people with disabilities, I know how important social inclusion is and how detrimental any exclusion and loneliness can be to someone’s wellbeing. In addition to this the IMART ethos is beneficial to all involved – it’s inspiring to see the lads learn so much about each other when level the playing field. These guys just see themselves as one team and you can’t buy that!”

Liam Maher, Manager of the Sunday’s Well Rebels

“Since I first spoke to Alan about mixed ability rugby my life has genuinely not been the same. I don’t have any first-hand experience with disability affecting myself or my family, so it’s not something I ever really considered. But my involvement with the Rebels has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.”

Peter O’Mahony, Munster Rugby Captain

I’m proud to support the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament coming to Ireland for the first time. Mixed Ability gives everybody the opportunity to be a rugby player regardless of size, shape or ability. This is an incredible opportunity to celebrate our core values, welcoming teams from around the world to experience our legendary Irish hospitality!”

It is hoped that the IMART Tournament in Cork next year will enhance interest, participation and interaction of people of all abilities in the sport across Ireland and beyond, and help to build new connections between grassroots clubs, educational institutions, communities and local authorities.

Liam Maher, Manager of the Sunday’s Well Rebels, spoke of their plans to showcase all that Cork has to offer to the 750 strong participants, as well as organisers and spectators who will flock to the event.

We have worked tirelessly with the IRFU, Munster Rugby, Cork City Council, IMAS, and others in an effort to bring this event to Cork. There has been a lot of work in the background – not just in preparing the bid for this global tournament, but in getting recognised for IMART as an official rugby sport. We have been in talks with the IRFU since the Rebels were set up in 2014, and thankfully we have recently received much-deserved recognition for this forward-thinking, inclusive and inspiring sport.

We’re exceptionally proud that Cork has been chosen to host IMART 2020. The tournament will bring together some of the finest Mixed Ability rugby teams in the world and will attract in the region of 750 international participants for the week-long competition. Cork won the bid in part due to Ireland’s international reputation as a rugby power-house, but also because we have reputation in Mixed Ability sport.  Mixed Ability is about valuing everyone’s potential and celebrating what’s at the heart of true sport – participation, passion and fun!”

Darren Randolph fitness boost for Republic of Ireland

Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph handed Mick McCarthy a European Championship boost when he stepped up his training with the squad at the FAI National Training Centre on Saturday, ahead of Monday night’s clash with Denmark.

Randolph was back in the Middlesbrough team last weekend after a spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury and had worked mostly in the gym prior to Saturday’s return to the training ground.

“I said we’d wrap Darren Randolph in cotton wool ahead of the Denmark match and we’ve almost been true to my word,” laughed Ireland boss Mick McCarthy after the penultimate session before the Denmark tie.

“He wasn’t involved for the New Zealand win on Thursday night and he’s done most of his work in the gym this week so it was great to see him working on the pitch today.

“Like everyone else in the squad, Darren is fit and rearing to go and he can’t wait for the game now.”

McCarthy and his players watched Denmark’s 6-0 win over Gibraltar after dinner on Friday night with the manager also keeping an eye on Switzerland’s 1-0 victory against Georgia.

The Ireland manager told FAI.ie: “The results on Friday were exactly as expected but with Switzerland-Georgia being such a close game, I did cheer that late Switzerland goal as it means a one goal win will do us on Monday.

“Denmark will be happy with their result but we knew before their game that we’d have to beat them and that’s still the case. Nothing has changed.”

Sports Betting: How Does It Work?

It is believed that betting on sports appeared in ancient Rome, when both noble people and plain folk made bets on gladiator games, chariot and horse racing. Nowadays, bets on almost any sports are accepted, from boxing and football to darts and cybersports. Moreover, bettors can learn about current events in many sports on specialized web-platforms like https://mybetbuddy.com/.

But how does it work? Plenty of modern bettors place bets through mobile applications or betting sites, where, basically, everything is intuitive. However, it is not the case for a person who is out of touch with online betting.

How to calculate winnings? Let’s say a certain bet has odds of 2.70, while your bet is £100. You need to multiply the odds by the betting amount and take away the money you wagered. In our case, the win is £270 and the profit is £170.

How are betting odds formed? Each sporting event is analyzed by bookmakers before they start predicting on which outcomes people will be betting the most.

Betting odds are the probabilities of all outcomes. They can be calculated by a simple formula: it is necessary to divide 100% by a probability indicator. For example, the probability that the team “A” will score a goal to the team “B” in the first half of a match is 25%. Accordingly, the coefficient is 4.00.

And what is a margin? If we add up all the odds set up by a bookie for one game or competition, the final figure will turn out to exceed 100% – let’s say, it makes up 110%. In this case, the excessive 10% is the bookmaker’s margin. To put it simply, it is a guaranteed bookie’s income.

What to do to be on the plus side? Experienced bettors often avoid bets with low odds because they don’t guarantee wins, while to make up for one loss with 1.20 odds, you need to have five equivalent bets won.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Deserves More Time and Here’s Why

The chants of ‘Ole’s at the Wheel’ throughout the ‘HoneyMoon’ period gave goosebumps to any United fan, the flashbacks to the ‘Golden Years’ of Sir Alex Ferguson, the fast rapid play, the counter-attacking football right from the gecko set Solskjaer’s journey as United Manager.

The dramatic 3-1 win vs PSG in the Champions league set pen to paper for Solskjaer’s dream job as gaffer.

Since the dramatic win, United have played 22 games winning five, drawing seven and losing ten. Drawing a spotlight toward Solskjaer and raising the question should he remain the manager of Manchester United. Any betting guide would suggest they are in bad form and not a team in good form.

Recent Form:

Recent form would suggest that no he should get the sacking but behind the scenes, there is much more. The injury crisis is well known and Solskjaer has only been able to play his starting 11 once this season with 10 of his first-team squad on the sidelines. Solskjaer has stated on many occasions that there will be “bumps in the road” and “ups and downs”. Recently some of these bumps have been bigger than anticipated with the recent 1-0 loss to Newcastle and 0-0 draw against AZ Alkmaar. Manchester United fans would be forgiven for believing they had more chances of winning some money on kodyzaklady.pl rather than suffer defeat at St James’ Park, but such is the bad form at United at present.

A lack of confidence and creating chances is clear, the players are unable to present an identity to their football and can’t establish themselves. A huge part of Manchester United is their identity of football the fast-paced, counter-attacking football that has been lost since the PSG Victory.

The Summer Signings:

Aaron Wan Bissaka and Harry Maguire were brought in to strengthen the defensive backline. It’s clear that the defensive backline looks more solid and compact but at times they lose themselves and look lost, is this due to bad tactics or a lack of confidence?

Daniel James was brought it to seemingly be a squad player but with his starting form, he has become a weekly starter and seems to be the prospect United fans hoped for. The fast rapid Welshman was a great buy and really shows the start of something Solskjaer is building.

Patience:

In recent years United have sacked three managers. Each manager got a lack of funds and backing by the board but also had a lack of patience from the fans and the board.

Solskjaer is a fan favourite and will always receive love from the fans but he needs patience more than anything right now. Already given a difficult job, add an injury crisis and a lack of midfielders brought in the summer and you the big ups and downs he had mentioned previously.

Solskjaer is guaranteed to be backed in January and is only a few injury recoveries and signings away from bringing back that football we all loved throughout the honeymoon period.

Patience is key in football and the man who brought back identity and action to Manchester United deserves a chance.

Division 1 Football Final Kerry v Mayo Preview, Team News and live score updates

Kerry v Mayo, Sunday, 4.00pm. Croke Park

The final game on the triple header in Croke Park on Sunday is the Allianz League Football Final between Kerry and Mayo. It’s a novel pairing considering Dublin have reached the final for the 7 or 8 years so it will good for the neutral supporter.

Click LoveGAA.com for live updates

Kerry has been the form team in the league in my opinion. Results speak for themselves. It’s Peter Keane’s first year in charge and he has done an amazing job so far full credit must go to him. They played 7 games in Division 1, just losing 1, winning 6. The loss came to Mayo on Paddy’s weekend on home soil, they will want to gain revenge for that I’m sure. Mayo finished second in the standings in Division 1, winning 5 and losing 2. Losses came to Galway and Dublin. However, they have shown they are still one of the best sides in the country. The performance against Monaghan was superb scoring 3-15 also.

The game in Croke Park, in my opinion, will suit Kerry. They have a lot of quick players in attack that will love the space and freedom to run and attack with the ball. In defence players like Jack Sherwood, Peter Crowley, Paul Murphy and Tom O’Sullivan will be expected to have massive games. In attack they have an abundance of talent Tommy Walsh is a target man for the high ball at full forward, while Dave Clifford and James O’Donoghue’s on the corner forward positions would give any full back line fear. Looking at James Horan’s Mayo they are in a league and they will want to win it no doubt to take home silverware. In defence Chris Barrett, Paddy Durcan and Brendan Harrison will be key. Colm Boyle and Keith Higgins missed the win over Monaghan if they are fully fit they will obviously start. Aidan O’Shea has had a good year to date and he will be expected to drive Mayo on, while in attack Fergal Boland, Diarmuid O’Connor and Kevin McLoughlin will be expected to come up trumps with the scores.

Team News

Kerry (FL1 final v Mayo): Shane Ryan; Peter Crowley, Jack Sherwood, Graham O’Sullivan; Gavin Crowley, Paul Murphy, Tom O’Sullivan; Jack Barry, Diarmuid O’Connor; Dara Moynihan, Sean O’Shea, Stephen O’Brien; David Clifford, Tommy Walsh, Kevin McCarthy

Mayo (FL1 final v Kerry): Rob Hennelly; Chris Barrett, Brendan Harrison, Keith Higgins; Paddy Durcan, Lee Keegan, Donal Vaughan; Matthew Ruane, Aidan O’Shea; Fergal Boland, Jason Doherty, Diarmuid O’Connor; Kevin McLoughlin, Darren Coen, James Carr

Betting

Kerry are 8/15 and Mayo are 15/8. The draw is 15/2. I really fancy Kerry to win here. Sean O’Shea to get man of the match and Kerry to win by 2 or 3 points.

Verdict: Kerry

Top four sports betting tips

The popularity of sports betting is without a doubt on the rise with so many sporting events taking place around the world on pretty much a daily basis. A recent report from the Gambling Commission, the authority that licenses and regulates businesses that provide gambling in the UK, showed that there are over 8,400 betting shops across the country, a small 1.5% decrease from the year ago. On the other hand, sports betting has increased from 65% in 2015 to 73% in 2018.

The rise of this activity can also be attributed to the fact that there are a number of online betting services that allow punters the chance to place their bets from the comfort of their home or from their mobile devices. This way, they never have to visit a high-street shop and can also withdraw their winnings online. With that in mind, we are taking a look at some of the most popular sports betting tips, which will help you make an informed decision before placing a bet.

#1 Matches Played Together

You should always take into account the results from the last couple of years when the teams have faced one other. While a lot of punters will look to statistics from as much as five years back, it’s always better to see more recent results, since a lot can change in five years, especially when it comes to who’s playing and who’s not. It should be noted that a big list of online casino sites will give you all these information and more when you click on the sports betting tab within the client portal.

#2 The Odds

Sports betting shops will take many statistics into account before releasing their odds, which is always a very good indication of what’s likely going to happen. Obviously, that would make things very predictable and we all know that sports are anything but that. It’s always worth checking out the odds from different sports shops and online betting sites to see if there’s a pattern and make the most of these data.

#3 Performance

The overall performance of a team across all competitions is another great indicator as to how well they are playing. When it comes to football, don’t just look at the results from the domestic league, but always take into account how the team is faring in the Champions League or the Europa League. In case they did not qualify for these events, the results from the domestic cups are always worth checking out.

#4 Injury List

Last, but by no means least, you should always look at the injury list of any sports team. This will come in handy for football matches and team sports, since missing any major team members can always cause the team to collapse in one way or another. While sometimes managers will keep this sort of information close to their vest and they won’t announce the team selection until only a couple of hours before the match, make sure you place your bet as close to the kick-off as possible so you can place the right bet.

Conclusion

If you want to be a successful punter, make sure you read all the latest information on the teams you are planning to place a bet on and don’t forget to set a limit on how much money you want to invest. You should never go over your limit and be comfortable financially if you happen to lose your bet.

Main Reasons Why Your Casino Needs HTML5 Games

Like any other sphere, the gambling business is developing by improving its software. One of the most interesting phenomena over the past few years has become the HTML5 format, which is gradually changing the rules of the game in the development of slots.

What is HTML5?

This is the fifth version of the hypertext markup that is used to create web pages. The question arises: what do the developers of online poker software have to do with it? Well, the new HTML5 tags can not only structure the pages of sites but also create software for them with various multimedia capabilities. Now the sale of slot machines based on this technology breaks all records.

Let’s consider the benefits of HTML5 in slot development:

  1. The technology allows you to play slots on both desktop PCs and smartphones. At home, in the office, transport, café — the player can open his favorite game in a convenient place at a convenient time.
  2. It makes no difference whether the gambler has Android or iOS — the HTML5 game will open on any platform, which distinguishes such slot machines from games created using other technologies. It has a positive effect on the expansion of clients’ base.
  3. These slots use SVG vector graphics, which customize games to screens of different sizes. Scalability is one of the main advantages of technology.
  4. HTML5 games load and work quickly, they do not require installing additional software.

From all the above, we can conclude that the development of an HTML5 slot does not require a large time and financial costs. The developer writes code that does not need to be adapted for different devices. You only need to work on compatibility with browsers.

Your casino needs HTML5 games if you want to:

  • increase attendance of your website without any difficulties;
  • create the most comfortable conditions for the player to spend more time in the game;
  • spend less money and time on creating new or buying existing slots;
  • follow trends and use only relevant technologies.

HTML5 Casino Games from Evenbetgaming

Evenbetgaming is a well-known gaming software developer. Choosing software from this company, the owner of a gambling business can be sure of its quality, legality, and uniqueness.

The casino operator can order the development of the slot according to his own requirements: he will receive a one-of-a-kind slot machine that can only be found on his website. This is beneficial because it attracts attention and distinguishes the institution from competitors.

Conclusion

The creation of HTML5 has expanded the horizons of opportunities for software developers. Even before its release, many predicted a sad fate for the project. However, the ability to adapt content for smartphones is widely used today, so the sale of HTML5 slots has long surpassed the sale of flash games. Want to start your own gambling website? Make sure that HTML5 is a part of it.

Brother’s success in Australia wasn’t enough for Norway’s Cummings in a match against Greece

The Cummings brothers are well known in the Rugby world, simply due to their coverage of the world. One brother, Nick Cummings plays in Australia while the other one, Nathan Cummings performs in Norway.

Both brothers have managed to make a name for themselves in the sport by performing amazingly in their respective countries, but Nathan has been placed on a much higher pedestal thanks to his performance in the Norway – Germany match which was a qualifier for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

The win against Germany came right after Nick managed to grow his celebrity status even further after having almost all of Australia fall in love with his character in the Bachelor TV Series.

Nathan was very hopeful that the team’s performance against Germany would repeat itself against a much tougher opponent in the form of Greece, but unfortunately that it did not come to be as Norway lost 26 to 55 against Greece.

The hope for Rugby, however, was revived in Norway as the oval ball sport was not very popular beforehand. The Norwegian team’s performance under the guidance of Cummings was quadrupled according to some experts in the country, but it still cannot come close to other sports that are much more popular.

Regardless though, Cummings has said that their victory against Germany showed the Norwegian population that their rugby team is capable of bringing down a serious opponent, but Greece seemed to be simply too much for them to handle.

The way attention spread

Although sports betting isn’t necessarily allowed in Norway, but much rather restricted to a government-controlled entity, it was still obvious that the rugby team was getting much more attention after their victory against Germany. Multiple Norway online betting providers started to increase the odds of the team winning against Greece simply due to their amazing performance beforehand. Hundreds of Norwegian bettors were introduced to the sport in the lobbies of the betting operators and were encouraged to take a look. The fact that Cummings is also quite popular in Norway for leading the team added some extra value to the whole shebang.

However, now that those people have placed their hopes and most importantly funds on the performance of their rugby team and were not necessarily given what they were hoping for, it’s likely that betting companies will start lowering the odds once again and stop considering Norway’s rugby team as a top contender. An average status is more likely.

But the hit that the team took in terms of popularity is obvious. All of those new bettors who had their hopes disappointed against Greece are unlikely to support their rugby team anytime soon unfortunately.

But still, the global rugby community applauds the Norwegians and hopes them better performance in the future.

Hurling is Becoming a Major Irish Export in America

Earlier this month, the annual Hurling Classic descended on New York City, bringing a little bit of Irish sporting charm to the United States. An obvious question is why is hurling managing to make an impact in America?

Hurling remains one of Ireland’s two major national sports, but it seems it is travelling well in the States. While it can’t compete with basketball or football, where people embrace the sports on venues like NetBet football, hurling has found a dedicated audience in America. The Hurling Classic highlights the growing appeal.

Now in its fourth year, the Players Champions Cup (Hurling Classic) moved to New York City after three years as the Fenway Hurling Classic in Boston. During this month, 30,000 spectators flocked to Citi Field to watch the cup and America is clearly becoming interested in the sport of hurling.

Certainly, hurling appeals to sports fans on a core level. Many view the sport as an art and a callback to the Irish warriors of eras past.

As in other years, the Hurling Classic was played between the top four counties from the All-Ireland Senior Hurling tournament. Hosted by Fenway Sports Management (FSM), the company that owns Liverpool FC and the Boston Redsox, the tournament reached a new audience in New York.

“We’re aiming to replicate that success in New York and hope to introduce hurling to new audiences and generate more interest in the sport,” FSM spokesman Mark Lev told the BBC

Kilkenny reigned supreme during the 2019 Players Champions Cup, defeating defending champions Limerick 64-40 in the final.

More than just promoting Irish hurling, the Classic is boosting the hurling community in the United States. American hurlers say the level of competition is reaching a level that is comparable to that in Ireland. With five senior teams competing in New York City, hurler Tommy Kavanagh told the BBC the competition is of a good standard.

He puts the capabilities of this generation of American hurlers down to the roots of the players. “The majority of the American-born players’ parents were born in Ireland, and their skill set would be at 17 or 18 as good as any 17 or 18-year-old in Ireland,” says Kavanagh, who is originally from Borrisoleigh, near Thurles, County Tipperary.

As anyone who has been to New York during St. Patrick’s Day will attest, the city is steeped in Irish heritage. With that in mind, hurling is not a new sport in New York, even if the Players Champions Cup is enjoying its maiden competition in the city.

Indeed, hurling has been reported in New York City from as far back as 1772, influenced by Irish soldiers stationed with the British Army. Of course, an influx of Irish people flowed into America as the country became an immigration center, allowing hurling to become more established.

America’s first club, the New York Irish Hurling and Football Club was founded in 1857. From there, clubs were started in cities across the country.

While hurling seemed to be growing into a major sport during the 1920s, it admittedly went through phases of lower interest. It seems hurling is once again capturing the attention of sports fans in the United States. It remains a niche sport, but it is one that is becoming increasingly popular.
