We have to make sure that areas of our game improve and we know we have to be at our best on Saturday.”

Edinburgh Rugby Head Coach Mike Blair said: “We’ve had a really focussed week of training and the guys are excited to return to league action. That short break during the Six Nations window has given us the opportunity to take stock and reflect on what we’re doing well and what we can do better as a team. The internationals have come back into training this week and brought a brilliant buzz. We’ve got a great dynamic across the squad and we feel energised as a group heading into tomorrow night’s match at Parc y Scarlets. Scarlets have been going really well of late and are always strong at home. However, we’ve had some terrific results on the road so far this season – with URC wins at Cardiff and Zebre – which gives us some confidence heading into a fixture which is hugely important for us as a club.”

We have been disappointed with our recent performances and need to get back to the levels of performance we saw earlier this season to turn things around. Despite missing the internationals, we have still been able to select a strong squad to get the job done but we will not underestimate our opposition. Benetton are a quality team, full of talent, and they taught us a harsh lesson at the end of last season so there is no lack of motivation. It’s also important that we mark a special day for Lloyd (Williams)  in winning fashion. Not many players have the ability to break records like Lloyd and he should be really proud of this latest milestone as he passes Fa’ao. It is testament to not only his quality as a player but his professionalism in everything he does – he is a great example and role model for young players.”

– Jack Carty has made as many try assists as any other player (eight, = Paul de Wet). He has also made the most break assists with his passing (11).

Did you know?

Zebre Parma are on a four-match losing streak to Connacht, last winning in February 2018.

Leinster Rugby Schools Senior Cup Game to be Replayed

Following a meeting of the Leinster Rugby Schools Committee yesterday afternoon, it has been decided that the Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Schools Senior Cup first round game between Clongowes Wood College and Terenure College will be replayed on Monday, 20 February in Energia Park.

The decision to replay the fixture follows an independent submission, unrelated to either school, that Clongowes Wood College fielded an ineligible player during their first round 17-15 win over Terenure College in contravention of Regulation 8.6 of the Leinster Rugby Games Master’s Handbook and Schools Competition Regulations.

On the evidence available, it has been decided by the Leinster Rugby Schools Committee, to replay the game next Monday.

Details of the replay will be confirmed in the next few days and the winner of the game will face St Michael’s College in the second round of the Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Schools Senior Cup on a date also to be confirmed.

How to Use Skrill for Gambling & Sports Betting

The industry of gambling and sports betting has changed a lot. The biggest innovations are payment methods. Top 7 Unknown And Unexpected Facts About Online Betting

Even if you are not interested in the world of gambling and lotteries, and have never bet on sports, you probably know that the latter account for about 40% of the total gambling market.

According to the analytical and news resource, every 2nd inhabitant of the planet over the age of 18 made bets on sports and non-sports events.

Do you know that bets on various sporting events began to be accepted several thousand years ago? In those ancient times, the fans had their own favorites, on which they bet huge amounts of money, trying to predict the outcome of certain competitions. It is quite understandable that even today bookmakers are extremely popular.

However, let’s try to figure out what we know about this hobby of many gamblers? You can do this without much difficulty by reading the very interesting facts about sports  betting on ice hockey, which will be presented below.

  1. First of all, it should be mentioned that the leading position in the betting business is confidently occupied by the UK. It is noteworthy that the first analogues of modern bookmakers began to actively work here several centuries ago. This business was quite profitable, since the annual turnover in such establishments reached several billion pounds! At the same time, the British liked to bet not on football at all, as they do today, but on the weather or boxing.
  2. Mysticism is a rather rare phenomenon in sports betting, but still there is one extraordinary case that deserves special attention. A simple worker – Mick Gibbs won 800 thousand dollars, betting only 50 cents. The young man immediately guessed 15 exact outcomes in one “express” and then safely received a well-deserved reward.
  3. There is no doubt that you have heard at least once about the “end of the world”, because this topic was actively discussed at the beginning of this century. Of course, bookmakers also could not ignore the potential threat. Some bookmakers took bets that the year 2000 would be the last in the history of mankind, offering their customers huge odds. True, it is quite difficult to answer the question of who would pay the money to the winners, in the event of a correct outcome.
  4. It should also be noted that bookmakers never forget about famous personalities. For example, when the musical compositions of the American singer Britney Spears were extremely popular, betting enthusiasts often risked their money, hoping to get a big win if the performer suddenly became pregnant from one of her many fans. As a result, this did not happen, although the chances were estimated as 1 to 28!
  5. There have been quite a few ridiculous bets in the history of the betting business, so gamblers have always had enough imagination. For example, once, bookmakers accepted bets that Elvis Presley would definitely shoot down a UFO with a shot from a gun, and then the “apparatus” would fall right into the lake with the Loch Ness Monster and kill the reptile. Of course, the chance that such an event will occur is minimal – 1 in 15 million. However, these are not all interesting facts that deserve your attention.
  6. One of the most unexpected wins was received by an amateur bettor from Norway – Thomas Savirson. The man decided to put money on the fact that the Uruguayan scorer Luis Suarez would certainly bite someone during a football match with the Italian national team. Fans with experience, for sure, remember that one of the leaders of Barcelona then could not restrain his aggression. The victim was Italian Giorgio Chielini, who had bite marks on his shoulder. Accordingly, Mr. Savirson’s prediction turned out to be correct, which allowed the man to get a win – almost 6,000 kroons.
  7. As you know, advertising plays an important role in the development of every business, and bookmaking is definitely not an exception to the rule. So, the most extraordinary advertising idea belongs to Sportingbet and football player Niklas Bendtner. During one of the matches, the Danish striker scored a goal, and then showed the fans the logo of the bookmaker’s office, depicted on his underpants. The marketing ploy was really successful, but the footballer himself was disqualified for his act.

The first and most interesting bets

Scientists know that the first predictions for sports were given in ancient Rome and Greece. References to betting can be seen in materials related to 17th and 18th century Britain and France.

Unusual sports betting that went down in world history:

  • Correct weather forecast in 13 cities. In 2010, shortly before Christmas, a certain Cliff Bryant went to the Ladbrokes bookmaker and entered into a bet that snow would fall in 13 cities in the north of England during the holidays. His assumption turned out to be correct: on Christmas Eve, it actually snowed in the settlements of Britain – for the first time in seven years. Due to the fact that Bryant made an express bet (multiplication of odds) and not a single bet, his winnings amounted to more than 7 million pounds (approximately $ 11 million). But the office staff gave him only 30 pounds, saying that the rate was accepted by the operator by mistake, and “weather” express trains are prohibited.
  • Elvis Presley VS aliens. One of the most ridiculous predictions in history is the following: American singer Elvis Presley will shoot down a UFO. An alien ship will land in Loch Ness, killing its famous monster. The coefficient for this event, invented by the bookmaker William Hill, was 14,000,000. Much later – in 2017, one of the British offices began to offer guests a bet that the king of rock and roll, who died in 1977, is still alive in reality.
  • Horse Racing. What could be unique about a horse race bet? The ratio of the amount of the dispute and the amount of winnings. In 1995, Ladbrokes paid out £210,000 in an event with quote 3072887. The winner bet only 5p. By the triggered multiplier, this win is the largest in history.

Ireland lose 74-57 to Czech Republic in FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 Qualifiers

Ireland lost 74-57 to Czech Republic in their final game of the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 Qualifiers campaign, as James Weldon lamented a “really frustrating” first quarter. There were strong performances from captain Edel Thornton, who finished with 16 points, three rebounds and four assists and Bridget Herlihy, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds, but Ireland couldn’t manage to spring an upset in Prague against a side who are 22ndin the FIBA world rankings.

Ireland started brightly, they led 12-10 midway through the first after Dayna Finn’s three point jump shot. With a little over three minutes to go in the first quarter Sarah Hickey came on for her international debut, she made an almost immediate impact with a steal and assist for Claire Melia and Ireland trailed 16-14 with 2’10” remaining. That was to be Ireland’s last points of the quarter, the Czechs opened up a 26-14 lead by the end of it.

Simona Sklenarova’s driving layup two and a half minutes into the second quarter completed a 16 point run for the Czech’s, to put them 32-14 ahead and give Ireland an uphill task. That run was finally snapped by Herlihy’s three point jump shot in the third minute of the second quarter, Ireland trailed 32-17. But the Czechs rattled off five more points after that, only for Ireland to respond positively, when captain Edel Thornton landed a nice three from the left, followed by a driving layup from Herlihy and it was 37-22. With two minutes to go the gap was 12 points, following Finn’s two-point jump shot to trail 39-27. However, by the end of the quarter the Czechs added to their tally, Natálie Stoupalova layup just before the half-time buzzer made it 43-27.

Ireland needed a quick start to the third, but instead Veronika Vorackova’s early layup indicated that the home side had no intention of letting them back into it. They had a 20 point advantage four and a half minutes in, when Renata Brezinova converted from the three point line to make it 50-30. A pair of Edel Thornton free throws and Herlihy’s three reduced the deficit straight afterwards, but the Czech’s continued to keep Ireland at arms’ length and led 58-39 by the end of the third.

Ireland began the fourth with a pair of three’s from Edel Thornton and Michelle Clarke, either side of Veronika Vorackova’s layup, to make it 60-45. Jump shots from Finn and Melia and it was a 13 point game, 62-49, with 5’28” to go. Ireland kept plugging away and outscored their opponents in the final quarter 18-16, but ultimately the Czechs proved to be too strong, winning 74-57.

“The first quarter was really frustrating, we gave up 12 points in transition and that was an area where we really wanted to target and not give up some of those easy points and unfortunately we dug ourselves that bit of a hole, but these girls never give up and they dug deep and stuck together. It was a good performance to come here, to a nation that is probably going to qualify for their 15th (major) championship in a row this weekend. I do believe these girls have gained respect around Europe, talking to a lot of friends around Europe – they’re hugely encouraged with the positive steps the team is making forward. More games next summer at this level is vital for the next step of progression.”

Ireland’s next qualifying campaign is the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, which begin in November 2023.

10th Place For Mia Griffin In Women’s Elimination Race At UEC Track European Championships

Mia Griffin has finished in tenth place in the women’s elimination race on day two of the UEC Track European Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland on Thursday, February 9th.

The Irish rider was heavily involved in the opening exchanges as she kept to the front of the bunch and clear of elimination but found herself in a battle to avoid elimination on two occasions before finishing in tenth place in a competitive field.

Ireland enjoyed a successful start to the day in the afternoon session as a new national record was set in the women’s team pursuit.

The team of Alice Sharpe, Lara Gillespie, Kelly Murphy and Mia Griffin set a blazing time of 4.19.705 – a new national record* in the first round following qualifying on Wednesday.

The new time is 0.033 seconds quicker than the previous record set on April 21, 2022, at the Nations Cup in Glasgow.

After a strong time of 4:21.426 in qualifying on Wednesday, Ireland needed to move up from fifth in the standings to the top four in order to race for a medal.

And despite taking almost two seconds off their qualifying time, Ireland missed out on the top four behind Italy, Great Britain, France and Germany.

Orla Walsh kicked off the day for Ireland in the women’s sprint qualifying and her time of 11.159 saw her finish 16th and progress to the 1/16 finals in the afternoon.

Walsh was paired with Ukraine’s Oleksandra Lohviniuk in the 1/16 finals, but missed out in the match sprint as she finished 0.070 seconds behindLohviniuk.

* All new national records are provisional and subject to formal ratification with Cycling Ireland.

Day Three Schedule

It’s another busy day for Ireland on Friday, February 10th, as Conor Rowley competes in the men’s sprint qualifying.

Lara Gillespie will compete in the women’s omnium throughout the day, racing in the scratch and tempo races in the afternoon session followed by the elimination and points races in the evening session.

Also in action in the evening session is JB Murphy, he’ll compete in the men’s scratch race at the Tissot Velodrome.

Premier League Darts 2023 Cardiff Results – Gerwyn Price 6-3 Nathan Aspinall

Gerwyn Price enjoyed a dream homecoming on a sensational evening of Cazoo Premier League action, defeating Nathan Aspinall 6-3 to triumph on Night Two in Cardiff on Thursday.

Price, roared on by a sell-out crowd at the Cardiff International Arena, celebrated wins over Chris Dobey, Michael van Gerwen and Aspinall to cap off a fairy-tale return on home soil.
The 2021 World Champion – sporting his national colours – avenged his Night One defeat to Aspinall to claim the maximum five league points and scoop the £10,000 bonus prize in the Welsh capital.
Price punished a sluggish start from Aspinall to establish an early lead, converting a clinical 97 kill to move 2-0 ahead, although Aspinall replied with a two-dart 72 combination to halve the deficit.
The Welsh number one was undeterred however, restoring his two-leg buffer with a 12-darter, before posting back-to-back 13-dart holds to move to the brink of victory at 5-2.
The 37-year-old almost sealed the deal with a spectacular 157 finish, but after Aspinall sank double two to preserve his hopes, Price responded by pinning his favourite tops to clinch a memorable win.
“Honestly I loved every minute of it. I’m soaking it all up,” said an emotional Price, who is level on five points alongside Dobey, Van Gerwen and Aspinall.
“I’m lost for words. I don’t get this reception very often, so I appreciate every bit of support. It was fantastic.
“How did I win against Michael [van Gerwen]? Michael outplayed me, but I’ve lost games like that before.
“The crowd got me over the line tonight. I’m not in the best of form. I was playing well before I was ill at the Masters and then I started feeling sorry for myself.
“I’m still not 100%, but I felt better tonight, and hopefully over the next couple of weeks I will get my form back.”
Earlier in the night, Price opened his Premier League account with a battling last-leg win over Night One winner Dobey, in a contest bookended by 12-darters from the home favourite.
The Welshman then came through a scintillating semi-final tussle against Van Gerwen, surviving two match darts in a dramatic last-leg decider to progress with a 13-dart break.
Van Gerwen averaged 110.75 in defeat – almost 14 points more than Price – but the three-time Grand Slam Champion held his nerve in a thrilling finale.
Aspinall, meanwhile, kicked off his Cardiff campaign with a 6-3 success against Peter Wright, firing in seven 180s and sealing the deal with a sublime ten-darter, despite suffering a bounce-out midway through the leg.
The Stockport star then defeated Michael Smith in a thrilling last four showdown, defying 121, 137 and 148 finishes from the World Champion by wrapping up victory with a stunning 136 checkout of his own.
In Thursday’s other quarter-finals, Smith posted a ton-plus average to deny Jonny Clayton a fairy-tale homecoming, while Van Gerwen toppled Dimitri Van den Bergh in a repeat of their Night One semi-final.
The Cazoo Premier League roadshow rolls into Glasgow’s OVO Hydro for Night Three on Thursday February 16, as home hero Wright bids to ignite his campaign against Van den Bergh.
Elsewhere, Price takes on World Champion Smith, Aspinall and Van Gerwen collide in a repeat of October’s World Grand Prix final, while Clayton and Dobey also lock horns.

Top 5 most searched WWE superstars online

WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) is the best-known wrestling company in the world. Owned by Vince McMahon, it has become the largest wrestling promotion in the universe.

To understand it well, in a match with basic rules, the winner is the one who gets his opponent to put his shoulders on the canvas for three seconds (which will be counted by a referee) or makes him submit. A fighter can also lose if he stands outside the ring for more than 10 seconds or is disqualified.

The three most popular types of matches are: Single Match, a confrontation between two wrestlers with basic rules; Street Fight, where the fighters will face each other without rules, where they can use any kind of objects and the winner is the one who manages to knock his opponent down and put their shoulders on the canvas for more than three seconds; and Tag Team, where four wrestlers face each other, two of them stay outside the ropes and the other two enter the ring to fight.

Its popularity is remarkable and just as users enter websites like Skokka looking for an hot Escorts in London, there are also many people looking for news about their favourite wrestlers. That’s why today we have compiled the 5 most popular WWE wrestlers online. Don’t miss it!

1. The Undertaker

Hulk Hogan may have been the key man for the most years in a row, but the image of WrestleMania, a perfect event to be accompanied by an independent Sydney escort, will always be impregnated by The Undertaker and his winning streak, which has been extended over time. The Deadman has wrestled 25 times and remained undefeated until his 22nd match, where he was defeated by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX. During his career, he has faced the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Kane, John Cena, Batista, Edge and CM Punk. And not only has he had good fights and the mythical streak, but also historic comebacks like the one he made at WrestleMania XX.

2. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan was WWE’s first big megastar. A man who broke the box office of the first events, starting with the first edition and ending in the ninth, returning later to be part of two more matches in the show’s history. He was a key part of the first edition of WrestleMania, but his first iconic fight came in the third edition against Andre The Giant. He was the star of the show nine years in a row and appeared in eight main events. WrestleMania in those years was in the Hulkster’s image and WWE owes him a lot for that. His meteoric return in 2002 left us with a dream match against The Rock. Later, he faced Vince McMahon to close the cycle.

3. Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is known as “Mr. WrestleMania” and it’s no coincidence. He is possibly the wrestler who has given the most fights to the show. His matches against Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Kurt Angle, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin or John Cena stand out. Also the match at WrestleMania XXIV, where he retired Ric Flair. But if we look in the rear-view mirror, HBK left us two gems against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXV and XXVI, where he lost to the Deadman and was forced to retire. Even uninterested people have enjoyed this wrestler  with sexy UK escorts for many of his matches.

4. The Rock

Dwayne “The Rock” Johson deserves to be among the four most important superstars in WrestleMania history for many reasons, but the one valued the most is the ability to have returned many years later and to have made so much noise with his fight against John Cena. But if we start from the beginning, it should be noted that “The People’s Champ” steralized WrestleMania for 3 key years for WWE, from edition 15 to 17, having two more superclassics in subsequent editions, one against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and another against Hulk Hogan. Precisely, that match generated such a buzz that it raised the WWE audience like we had never seen before.

5. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin

And he’s the one we were talking about. “The Rattlesnake” began his WrestleMania career in 1997 against Hart, and from that point on, he starred in most of the main events of the following WrestleMania’s. The following year, he wrestled Shawn Shawn and then Steve Austin. The following year, his fight against Shawn Michaels for the world title, with Mike Tyson as special referee, became one of the most talked about in history. At Wrestlemania 15, he faced The Rock in his first Super Classic for the WWE Championship. Austin missed WrestleMania 2000 with a neck injury, but reappeared at X-Seven, where he defeated The Rock in the main event, winning the title and joining Vince McMahon. The following year, he faced Scott Hall (with Kevin Nash) and picked up another win, and in 2003 he wrestled his last match, losing to The Rock. Since then, “Stone Cold” has made sporadic appearances.
